Ch~Thirteen: Tanya Turner // Arriving At Beast City.

A sword quickly fell and a separated head slowly rose in the air. The Swamp Monkey couldn't react at all. Its eyes lost its glow as its head fell down to the ground leaving its headless body twitching as a fountain of blood gushed out of the bloody neck.

'It seems like Level 1-2 gives me just one chakra and shop points. I killed eight which gives me eight points for each.

My Substitution Jutsu costs ten Chakra Points for each use and I'm guessing the Lightning Overdrive Jutsu cost me fifty Chakra Points to exhibit.

Lemme rest for a little before I continue my journey. I wonder how the rest are doing? Maybe the missions is not that hard for t....

Why am I suddenly feeling weak?'

Standing behind the beast with a sword in his hand, blue electrical currents kept swimming on Jae's body. Suddenly he started feeling weak.

Jae quickly canceled his jutsu before falling on his knees, short of breaths as he planted heavily. 'Damn! I think I have an understanding of this jutsu now. This jutsu helps me to enhance all physical aspects of my body except chakra that was being consumed rapidly.

The Lightning Overdrive Jutsu takes a toll on my body only because my body isn't strong enough to withstand its powers yet.

I think I should quickly level up to Level 5 before I can use it freely because for now, I don't think I can use that jutsu for a minute'

Jae thought solemnly while adjusting his breathing pattern to normal. He quickly stood up and started searching for his weapons and after that, he stored the carcasses of the dead swamp monkeys in his space before he prepared to cross the swamp.

This time, he made sure he was very alert of his surroundings and proceeded quite carefully. He also made sure he checked the map from time to time to make sure he was going the right way.

For an entire day, he kept traveling through the swamp and occasionally he would encounter some swamp beasts that he would engage in a fight. Of course, he would never try to fight anything above Level 2. Not that he couldn't fight them, he was just cautious as he haven't explored his system and basically didn't know much about it.

The system didn't even give him basic introduction about itself which made Jae frustrated and almost cursed Kasha. He knew this was Kasha's doing.

Anytime he sees any beast above Level 2-3, he would find a way around it or he would just run away. He didn't really wanna bet his life for now.

After many battles with the beast in this swamp, Jae realized many weaknesses he had. He didn't have any weapon techniques, battle techniques, magic techniques that he could use, his chakra reserve is too small, he doesn't have any battle experience and let his guard down easily. His senses are dull, he had bad sense of direction since he only relied on the C-Net's map.

Thinking of all this weaknesses made him feel sick inside. He quickly decided that he would train himself after he had successfully crossed the swamp.

So like that, Jae encountered many different beasts which he fought with victory and retreated with defeats. After an entire day of an exhausting traveling, Jae finally crossed the swamp and arrived at a field of grass and rocky terrains.

He noticed at the far end of the field, there was a man made path of flat bricks. This path leads to a direction and Jae was sure that that direction was the Beast City.

Using his full speed, Jae rushes towards the path and he could already see many vehicles passing. He saw carriages, caravans and other strange looking vehicles.

He noticed a merchant caravan and waved at it. The caravan stopped and a woman came out of the vehicle. She coldly stared at Jae for a while before she put her hand in pocket, drawing out a fresh food wrapped in white clothing.

She then raised her hand towards Jae in an attempt to give him the food. As she was doing so, she said "Now, take this and get lost. Do not delay me"

Jae subconsciously collected the food wrap from the woman and when he realized what he did, he became dumbfounded 'what the fuck!'

He saw that the woman was about to enter the caravan and he quickly stopped her.

"Wait ma'am!"

"Hmm? What do you want? I thought I already gave you what you wanted?" The woman said with an unhappy tone.

"What! But i never asked for this ma'am, why are you giving me this?" Jae politely said. He was careful in his speech so as to not anger her.

"What kid! Aren't you a beggar or hobo? Isn't that why you stopped my vehicle? I already gave you food now get lost" she irritatingly said.

"But ma'am, what part of me says anything about being a beggar?" Jae was confused. He was about to retort back at the woman but then, he noticed his appearance.

He finally understood why the woman thought he was a beggar. Jae at this moment looked homeless. He had just crossed the swamp and the adventures he had were enough to make him haggard.

His messy hair was filled with mud and his outfit had claw, bite and tear marks on it. His outfit was very dirty and rough and his face was also dirty. The swamp really changed a clean Jae into a dirty Jae.

Seeing that the woman was about to get irritated and angry again, he quickly thought of something.

"Ah yes. Yes, I'm a homeless person and I just escaped from bad people in the swamp. Please, I just want to ride on your vehicle to the Beast City and I promise, after that, I won't try to trouble you again. Please!" Suddenly, the atmosphere and emotions around Jae took a 360 degree turn.

Making himself seem as pitiful as he seems, he pleaded with the woman to allow him to ride and also at the same time, he also thanked her for the food but he didn't eat it.

The woman was surprised by the sudden change in Jae's behavior but didn't think much of it. Jae concluded that she must have witness many similar situations to his. She didn't say anything else and allowed Jae to come in.

Jae immediately entered without hesitation and sat down at a chair she pointed to him. She also sat down on another chair and just kept quiet while staring at Jae. For a moment, the entire room was submerged with awkwardness.

Finally, unable to cope with it, he started conversing with the woman. She also answered him but sometimes, she would just ignore him. He realized that she was a beautiful lady. Thought not that topping beauty kind but she was still beautiful.

She had a slim but little bit curvy body. Her hair was short and black with blue ocean eyes and red rosy lips. She was wearing a black battle suit and held two daggers equipped on her waist. Her cold expression was just a bad habit of hers.

From the conversation, Jae learnt her name. She is called Tanya Turner. She is a girl from the Turner Merchant Group from Beast City.

She helps with the escorting of important beast parts and protect them. Jae looked at the square shaped boxes in the room and guessed the beasts were inside it.

She is also a Silver Rank Hunter and also an E Rank Mercenary.

Jae couldn't dig anymore information other than that. This time, she started questioning Jae asking his name, origin and his purpose. It was obvious she didn't buy Jae's earlier lie.

Jae didn't feel any hostile intent from her so he told her the truth. He told her his name, his affiliation with Netherensis as a Disciple, though he didn't mention he was a Special Disciple and he told her his mission.

Tanya looked shocked from what she heard. She basically thought the mission was suicide but she didn't say anything and just nodded. Jae saw that she had become quiet and so, he didn't continue the conversation anymore.

After a few more minutes of silent travel, Tanya notified Jae that they had arrived at Beast City Zone and told him to get off. He wasn't going to help him any further but Jae quickly pleaded for her to help him enter the city before he get off.

Sighing, Tanya helped him in the city before parting ways with him. Now only Jae stood alone in this city where he proclaimed as awesome.

There were many buildings, both big and small, centers and places that were bustling with wide varieties of activities. Since it was evening, the colorful lights in the city only made it more extra.

Jae quickly picked a direction to go as the first thing he needed to do now was to locate an inn.
