Trembles Road

Abha's moving truck had arrived about four hours ago. They'd helped her move everything inside.

"That'd be $800 ma'am.", said a moving man with a short gray beard and a truckers hat.

Abha ripped out a check, "Alright. Here you go.", she handed the check to him.

"Outta curiosity why you moving to this house of all places?", he asked her.

"What do you mean?", she said putting her checkbook away.

"Well you know the little girl?", he said, she gave him a blank look clearly not knowing what he was talking about, "you don't know? Ah, well then probably best not to tell ya, don't wanna spook you outta your new house."

He turned and got in his truck before she could ask what he meant. What little girl?

She shook her head. Doesn't matter. She thought. She turned and went inside.

The house was enormous. At least twenty bedrooms. About five different bathrooms. A huge kitchen, probably bigger than some restaurants kitchens. The living room was the size of an entire small house. She could see through the windows that there was a beautiful pool in the back. Behind that there were plenty of trees. Next to the house was a whole stretch of land. The entire property was probably 3200 acres. It was amazing. But it also felt empty.

This old wooden house with lots of windows. She could see plenty of points of entry. She'd be worried about break-ins if anyone lived anywhere near this place. Being an ex security guard had its perks. Knowing the safety of a place. Realizing how easily someone could break in. But she quit when she decided to move. She has enough money saved up that she won't have to work for at least a year. She sighed. She felt gross from moving. She went up to the room she'd picked as hers.

In her new room her bed has been set up. She'd have to put sheets on it later. She opened a box marked Bathroom. She grabbed everything she needed for a shower. She opened another box labeled Pajamas. She set out a tank top and shorts on her bed.

She sighed. She was starting to feel better after a month of feeling like shit.
