"And you're absolutely confident she's not crooked and will not snitch to her pals after this…?" Grayson asked Brendan over their comms, he was suited up and waiting on a rooftop that had a dark alley between it and the other building.
"Absolutely 90% confident, you have your 'reading people' schtick and I have my data collection schtick, they can blend well together like you and I, ya know?" Brendan replied back while he watched through Nightwing's eye mask camera.
"Yeah, I know, it's just… I learned the hard way that the majority of cops on a fatcat's payroll like this Blockbuster fella don't wanna get off of it." Nightwing responded as he sat on the edge waiting for their potential police contact.
"When I was researching this lady's past, I saw a quote and please don't ask where but it said "The greatest heroes are the ones who are longing for the chance to be heroic." Brendan replied with a smile, "There's never been an actual hero in this city before you, maybe her and a lot of cops NEED a chance like this?" he finished replying still with that same smile.
"Alright, but man, I hate corrupt cops the most though, they were always worse than the criminals. They're supposed to be heroes but they're usually far more ruthless, brutal and well trained than them. I dodged them 70% of the time back in the day, I dodged doing worse than I'd give the average criminal." Nightwing responded with his view on the police, "I understand how some circumstances pushed some into being corrupt but it was harder for me to get over the fact they've sworn to protect and serve the public and the innocent but they only ever served themselves first, they were meant to be on our side but instead they're a part of the reason there's a need for vigilantes anyway!" He finished ranting as he continued to survey the area for the police contact.
The duo saw a woman approaching the dark alley he was at a good vantage point above, "Is this the police contact?" Nightwing asked Brendan to confirm she was who they were looking for first but Brendan didn't answer for some unknown reason, "She seems to be lonely, I'll go say hi." Nightwing still replied to his silence.
Nightwing incredibly parkoured his way to her below and without making a single ounce of noise, landed right behind her.
"The-" Nightwing said but she was quick to react and was terrified by the fact there was a vigilante behind her, "... Funny thing is where I'm from, usually the criminals meet in alleys exactly like this one, here it's the reverse." He finished with a friendly grin on his face.
"Sorry, it's just that this is my first time ever seeing a vigilante in person and not over some sorta news article!" Said Officer Amy Rohrbach, she tried to quickly regain her composure but she was mystified by how silent and light on his feet he was, she hasn't been snuck up on in years.
"So, I take it you're Blüdhaven born?" Nightwing replied with a charismatic tone, "Let's cut the date talk, I had received some creepy anonymous message saying to come to this street and this alley alone without being followed, this town sees too many bizarre and unexplainable crimes and murders but then I hear that other cops keep finding men with guns knocked out every night with evidence of their crimes given on a silver platter so I figured I'd take that small, small chance to see a real life vigilante over a psycho that'd track me down because I ignored him. Hopefully, Someone who could disinfect this city, and here you are!" Officer Rohrbach told him as he stood there listening.
"Here I am!" Nightwing responded, "What do you want?" She asked, "A woman who's straightforward. I did my research on you, and like you just admitted I've pieced together that you're not like 90% of the others, you want your precious home clean and good cops doing good work again. You're low enough where nobody'll see you but you work at the same department with the chief and you're investigative enough to wanna find the best rumors involving a badge, you know?" Nightwing replied still with the same charisma, nothing's changed.
"That joke you made earlier, usually a cop plays the role of the rat undercover to rat on criminals for the law, this just feels wrong." Officer Rohrbach responded but she thought he had a point.
"Thanks, don't worry about your safety, keep it on you at all times and stay on channel 78, it's a communication device I made with a close friend a while ago, everything on it stays private. Blockbuster's about to send every cop in town after me and I already have 6 assassins after me and BPD's the last thing I need to add." Said Nightwing after he handed her the device he was speaking about, it was small and easily concealable like a phone.
Amy Rohrbach looked worried, Nightwing placed his hand on his eye mask as he heard a deep, obviously altered voice talk from it, "Sorry, I had to go to the bathroom, ate some spicy tacos and drank coffee 30 minutes ago… Note to self, never. do. that. again!" Brendan informed him as soon as he made it back to his computer.
"Whoa, this mask can operate as a secondary communication device too??" Nightwing responded while freaking out. He's a Harold fan for a reason.
"Yeah, he linked it to all of my computers and files, but I accidentally pushed the wrong button just now, you didn't ask Harold about every function of your suit by the way?" Brendan replied then asked confused.
"Uh, oop, on my way back now, I gotta be careful or I could get seriously hurt on these dangerous rooftops." Nightwing replied before waving off Officer Rohrbach then making his way up to a nearby roof and began parkouring his way around the city to get back to Brendan's place.
Dick Grayson made it back to Brendan swiftly, Harold was telling Brendan a story while waiting for Grayson to return that left Brendan in shock and Awe. It likely made him as big a fan as Grayson himself was at that point.
"So, what did you find on these personal assassins, Bren?" Dick asked while he joined him and Harold at his multi-monitor setup to go over information.
"Nothing on Blockbuster, there's very little I could find on the others too." Brendan answered as he pulled up his own written files with the little information he compiled from various sources from online, articles and illegal sites.
"I can make very little work, the best information I can find is from each assassin anyway." Grayson replied, since very little information is all he ever needs to get the job done, "None of these assassins are going to talk, they're all business." Brendan replied with skepticism in his voice.
"Lady Elaine marsh-morton aka 'Lady Victim'.
She's 5'6, 120 lbs, Blue eyes, Platinum blonde hair. She belongs to a long line of British Mercenaries. Her family also collects old antique and possibly mythical weapons, her arsenal is mostly of these family heirlooms, each specifically given to each member that matches their personality and natural talents, their weapons are rumored to hold certain effects against their targets that helps on the job and helps their reputation for getting the job done always."
"Guillermo Barrera aka 'Brutale'.
Physical details: 5'4, 145 lbs, Almond eyes and jet Black hair. Extremely brutal, extremely quick and agile, extremely short. Brutale served in his country's secret police as its worst interrogator before the government was overthrown and he was forced to flee or face execution. Floating around the streets from city to city, homeless and down on his luck for a long time, it's safe to assume Blockbuster or someone close to him recognized his skills with every knife on the planet and his deadly accuracy and hired him then he remained loyal to Blockbuster ever since."
"Lester Buchinsky aka 'Electrocutioner'.
6 feet, 210 lbs, nobody has seen his upper face because if he takes off his custom eye covering, built up electricity will start blasting out much like his special gauntlets and boots for his arms and legs. The blasts could become very deadly to anyone within a mile radius. He's also the only known Metahuman on this team besides possibly Stallion, however, Stallion hasn't been confirmed. He can't control his Electrical manipulation and requires a special suit to even shoot a weak concentrated blast. Here's to hoping your new suit could withstand anything he can dish out though. He's the only one who can rival Brutale's Loyalty to Blockbuster…"
"Torque aka Dudley soames.
Six-foot-three, genius level IQ, Head's permanently turned around 180. Rumor has it that a while ago he was caught betraying Blockbuster and because of this, he tried to kill him by twisting his head around an entire 180 angle, however, he somehow didn't die from this and had to live like this some then. Not much else is known about him personally or how he survived. He also used to be a cop."
"Randy Hanrahan aka 'Stallion'.
Six-foot-nine hulking roided muscle with orange hair and green eyes. Raised on a farm with just his grandparents after his parents were killed by a rival crime boss in an accident on Blockbuster's life before he disappeared, Randy competed in illegal underground fighting tournaments to help his grandparents out and at one of these tournaments, he was recognized as useful by Blockbuster himself. Blockbuster saw his monstrous strength and insane ability to take pain and thought of a plan. He'd take him in as his protogé, his heir. What he lacks in brain he makes up for with his incredible ability to intimidate his foes and his superhuman power as well. Blockbuster gave him the chance to get revenge on the rival crime boss from New York but he couldn't go through with it."
"So, what's our next move?" Brendan asked Grayson after they were done discussing the files, Nightwing placed his hand on his chin to place the pieces together then got huge eyes when he thought of something.
