Eighty- four. Lily
Ezekiel paled behind the screen. He couldn't believe what he had just heard some minutes ago. Monalissa Walls. There was no other Monalissa Walls he knew or was it someone else? His palms grasped tightly to the handle of the seat he was sitting on, in an attempt to surpress the storm that was raging within him.
Kim stared at Mr Silas. Thinking that the man was spitting lies, he banged the table, startling the old man. "Look here Mr Silas! This is no time for any joke. Do you mean what you're saying?!", Kim asked as his mind was in Helter skelter mode.
Scared as he was, the old man covered his head with his hands which had quality traces of time. "Sir, I mean everything I'm saying. The name she was given at Winter walls is Monalissa Walls. I regret taking her there. She wouldn't have died", Mr Silas lamented.
"But you knew that was an assassin home", Kim probed.
"I knew. That's why I feel so sad. I turned her into someone who kills", he sobbed.
Kim looked at the screen, as if trying to see his Boss's face. For some reason, he felt that his Boss couldn't take this.
"That's all for today Mr Silas. It was a good thing that you cooperated", Kim said.
"That's the only thing I could do for her. It's not even enough to atone for my sins", Mr Silas said.
Kim sighed and left the room. He walked to the next room, signalling Milky and Suga to handle the old man on the other side.
While they were at it, Kim came forward to Ezekiel. "Boss", he called.
Ezekiel didn't respond. He sat there while staring at the screen before him. He couldn't believe his ears. Trying to wrap his head around the whole thing was giving him headache. But he could still bear that. What he couldn't bear was the thought of having Lily by his side all along, but not being able to recognize her. He even made life miserable for her. Will he even be forgiven?
"Boss, let's go", Kim said calmly. He understood the situation very well.
Ezekiel swallowed and stood. He lifted his legs which suddenly seemed heavy and walked out of the room. Kim walked behind him.
They had just walked for few seconds when Cobra ran to them. He was holding an envelope in his hands. He looked tensed as though it was something urgent.
"Boss", he bowed in greeting at the sight of Ezekiel. Ezekiel nodded.
"What's wrong?", he asked.
Cobra handed the envelope to Ezekiel. "This is a package from Cee country. It's what Camille sent, from the president's abode", Cobra stated.
Ezekiel nodded. "Alright", was all he said and began walking out. He wanted to rush to Elijah's domain and take the girl that was staying there away from him but, he didn't feel qualified to do that. He had always had dreams of running towards Lily the moment he found her, but right at this moment, that didn't seem feasible anymore. He was too scared to do that. His legs were suddenly stuck in the mud of guilt of what he had done to her. He couldn't even look her in her eyes. There were so many clues...the bracelet, her passing out at the sight of those designs, when she mentioned Zelissa the first time...
Kim pulled open the car door for him and he entered. Kim entered the driver's side and immediately ignited the car, setting it in motion. Ezekiel opened the envelope which Cobra had given him. There were pictures in it. A little girl's picture. It was Lily's pictures. His brows tightened at a thought that formed in his mind.
He went on to look at all of them, they were all of Lily's picture. The last one made him weep. It was Monalissa's picture. Lily was Monalissa. There was no doubt about it again. She lost her memory of everything including him. However, fate still showed them mercy and brought them back together in the most cruel way. He was grateful though. He couldn't believe how slow he was.
Ezekiel felt as though millions of needles were pricking at his heart, piercing through in the most cruel way, making him feel suffocated. He was astonished. Looking at those pictures in his hands, he opened his mouth and said, "Kim, drive to Elijah's place".
Kim's hand quivered on the steering wheel. "Boss, do you think that's ok? Miss Walls wouldn't want to see you at the moment based on what she told you", Kim explained.
"Kim, did you not hear me?! I said drive to that bastard's place!", he ordered, this time it sounded more terrifying than Kim had ever heard. He immediately changed his course and took the direction to Elijah's place.
Monalissa say by the pool, with her legs resting inside the water. It had a calming effect putting her in a state of oblivion as she didn't know how long she had stayed there.
"Pretty big sister", that childish voice called. The voice was so sweet that it melted Monalissa's heart. Noel was the only thing that seemed appealing in this place. Everything else that was in this house only made her feel annoyed.
Monalissa turned to him, a smile appearing on her pretty face. "Noel love, com here", she beckoned.
The little Noel smiled happily and walked to where Monalissa sat. Monalissa carried him and made him sit on her laps. "How's your day going dear?", she asked.
"I just returned from school. There was someone who made me cry in school", Noel said with a pout.
Monalissa frowned. "Were you hit?", she asked looking him all over.
"Not really. They just said mean things to me", Noel complained while leaning into her bosom.
"What did they say?", Monalissa asked
"That I'm homeless. That I don't have parents", he said.
Monalissa sighed and patted him gently on the back. "That's not true Noel. You have an uncle who loves you very much, and who will do things for you. You're not homeless. Also you have me", she said with a smile.
"Pretty big sister, you're so good to me", he said.
"I know right? But that's okay. I will be good to you till the end", she said.
Just then, Elijah arrived with some cakes and fried pastries. "Mona, snacks is here", he announced.
Monalissa looked at Noel. She wanted to ignore him but didn't want to. She couldn't let the little one know about what his beloved uncle was doing. So, she carried in with her good side.
"Noel, it's time to eat snacks. Don't you want to have a taste of them?", she asked with a smile that lighted Elijah's heart. Thankfully, she could smile at least at the sight of Noel.
Giddily, Noel hopped off from her body and went to Elijah who was with the snacks. Monalissa goaded her mind and pulled her legs out of the water. She got to where he was, without sparing him a glance, she reached forth her hand to take the fried pastries. She plopped them into her mouth, but the next moment, she started feeling nauseous and threw up everything that was in her belly.
Alarmed, Elijah rushed to her side and held her. He yelled at the nanny to come around and take Noel upstairs. Noel who had witnesse his big pretty sister being sick was already in tears. The nanny didn't mind that and took him upstairs to comfort him.
Monalissa was already weak and limp from throwing up. She needed a support and luckily, Elijah was by her side. She cursed the puking which made her liable to leaning into this man's body. Elijah carried her and began walking inside the house. They had just walked in when they saw a visitor waiting for them at the living room.
Ezekiel was surprised not to see anyone when he came in. He helped himself to a seat and waited. Just then, Elijah walked into the place with Monalissa in his arms. Ezekiel nearly set him ablaze with his gaze.
Monalissa was also surprised to find him here. What was he doing here?! She had told him to wait! Oh god!
"Lily", Ezekiel blurted.
