CHAPTER 24 - MYSTERIOUS STRENGTH

I ran back towards the places we stopped to rest, only to see four apes with large clubs in their hands.

I felt two of them showing clear hostility at Miracle, they looked as if they wanted nothing more than to kill him.

"These stupid apes followed us, were these the apes who pursued you, Miracle?" Okoro asked.

"Yes, but they were only two before when they started pursuing me" Miracle replied his hands clenched and his head down, he had brought trouble to them.

"These apes never give up unless they are dead or it's an order from their king," Efe said as she prepared herself for battle.

The rest of the children except Eruvwu, Ese, Ovie, and Fejiro were frozen on their feet. Even though they had seen strong beasts before, they only felt their presence in the surroundings and went another way, but now there are four of those kinds of beasts who are even stronger because they could use weapons are facing their malicious intent on them.

At that same moment they saw Akpobor walking out of the bushes.

"You all have to do the best to protect yourself" Okoro and Efe both shouted as they took their fight to another place.

Shhhh

One of the apes immediately focused on miracle trying to attack him, but it was easily dodged. All the other children ran back to hide somewhere, leaving only Eruvwu, Ovie, Ese, Fejiro, Miracle, and Akpobor behind.

The sheer wind from the club swinging, flew some people backwards towards the tree behind.

While the other went to Akpobor swinging it's club at him, it felt he was the most dangerous except those other two.

It swung its club hitting akpobor in his arms, I could barely track its movement it was faster than me by far before I noticed it I was hit by the club, thinking my arm would break I was ready to tie it. But when I looked at my arm my hands was fine there was barely even a scratch on it instead it was the club that was broken.

I looked towards the ape standing in a daze and gave it a punch at its jaw, that punch disoriented it making it more confused, the punch I gave it at the edge of its jaw caused its brain to shake all around the skull making it seemingly lose consciousness, and I ended it with a right kick at the face to end any counterattack from it.

I looked at my fist in amazement, I never knew that I was that strong, I haven't tested my strength ever since I had that heart of chaos and heart of essence matters in the temple.

I looked towards the other group, miracle was doing his best to distract the ape with his speed while the others tried to attack it.

I gave the ape one final punch again just to make sure it wouldn't stand up, I went to were they were fighting the ape to help them. I picked up a hunting knife from the floor nearby.

"Watch out" I quickly shouted so they'd be aware of my coming.

They all turned and looked at me then at the ape unconscious on the floor.

"How did you defeat it so fast?" Miracle asked.

"I don't know, I was just strong or it was just weak" I replied as I jumped toward the ape,

Shhh

One slice, one slice was all I gave it, for a long gash to appear at its back. From one arm to the area of its waist was sliced open with only one attack, the apes arm was almost cut off as I could see bone-deep wounds.

They all looked at me in shock, I had just sliced it once and its arm was almost cut off from behind, which means if he sliced the neck the ape would be dead immediately.

"How did he get this strong?!" they all thought.

The ape tried to use its elbow to hit me while turning, I dodged that bending down, and then I saw its knee coming at my face, although I knew I could bear the pain I didn't want it, its knee hitting my nose would be a painful thing for me.

I jumped back, hitting the tree behind me but dodging the knee coming at my face. It turned to stare at me as if it was saving my face in its mind, then I remembered what Okoro said, "The apes are vengeful creatures, once you attack them and they survive they would try their best to track you down until they killed you."

It turned back quickly and jumped on a tree, it was trying to escape, my mind quicky raced, I just made a vow to protect my tribe with all I got, but letting this ape escape will endanger my tribe, my speed was no match for it and I would quickly be left in its dust.

I looked and saw miracle already running with it, he was my last hope.

Catch it…..

I threw the hunting knife with me toward Miracle, who caught it and sliced the back neck of the ape killing it.

Miracle felt refreshed, the apes had been pursuing him for no reason for two days, and finally, he had killed one of them.

The body fell from the tree crashing down on the earth.

Bang

The rest children started coming from their hiding spots after they saw the battle had ended, they were surprised, the battle was quick, and no one got injured.

They all watched it from where they hid so they knew who really saved them, Akpobor it was him who completely destroyed the apes like ants like he was playing with toys.

Shchhh schch

The bush rattled, as the sound of something being dragged was loudly heard, Okoro and Efe were back and they were dragging the dead bodies of the apes.

Thier clothes were a little ruffled, and their hairs with sand and scattered, they looked around and saw the dead bodies of the apes.

They were surprised, although they knew some children had awakened(crossed the threshold) they weren't able to control their strength well, so how did they kill the apes and they were unharmed?

They had come here with the intention of seeing some children injured, although it was bad it would be good training for them but now the apes were dead.

"Who killed the apes?" Efe asked as she looked around in confusion.
