Prologue

My older step-sister, Katelyn, looked at me with panic in her eyes, blood was gushing from a wound on my shoulder. Katelyn's mother, Katia, stepped towards me growling, but Katelyn snarled and rushed forward stepping in front of me. I wanted to tell her to run while she still could.

           "What is wrong with you!? Nicole is only a pup! What did she ever do to you to make you do this to her!" Katelyn shouted fury and sorrow in her voice.

           "She was weak," Katelyn's mother responded, "step aside Katelyn, I do not wish to harm you."

           "Never, Nicole is my little sister and I intend on protecting her," Katelyn growled.

           "Fine then, I shall leave but remember I will return and next time, I won't be so merciful," Katia growled.

            Katia raced out, as soon as she was out of sight Katelyn turned to me with fear in her eyes.

           "Don't worry Nicole I'll take you to a safe place, where we'll both be safe from my mom and yours," She said picking we up by the scruff and running out of the den.

           She kept running for a while until she stopped at a huge building where she knocked on the door, somebody opened it and let us in as soon as they noticed Katelyn. She walked down a hall, animals of all species passed us.

         "Katelyn, what is this place?" I asked.

         "Nicole, welcome to the Wolves' Howl," She said with a smile.
