Chapter 27 – Crimson Spire
Regardless of how disadvantaged the yellow goblin was in their battle, the creature did not relent as it charged towards the player.
Swishh!
The yellow beast managed to close the gap between the two of them.
Immediately, it swung its arm, aiming to catch Damon's face at the end of its blow but missed.
The movements the goblin made had become easier for Damon to follow and he didn't let up on this opportunity one bit.
The edge of his shield swished through the air, gashing the beast and forcing it to jump back.
The yellow goblin writhed in pain as it clutched its abdomen.
Damon followed up with a leap into the air as he descended on the beast with a power-packed strike on its head.
"Aahh!"
Baamm!
The creature fell to the ground with its eyes rolled up and its tongue loosely sticking out of its mouth as stars appeared to revolve around its head.
The monster's health points depleted down to zero in a flash and the yellow beast crumbled into pixels, leaving a yellow mana core behind.
Damon's eyes broadened and filled with glimmer when he saw what came next.
"What?" he said. "Isn't that…"
His eyes certainly were not deceiving him.
His mind was not playing any tricks on him.
He knew about the mana cores from Axon and the value of each colour grade of the mana cores.
Damon had earned a yellow mana core that early in the game but in fact, it was not only him.
The yellow mana core was left for any player that cared to complete the three-part storyline that was layered within the time between entering the [Gates of Nexus] and entering the [Crimson Spire].
Damon had completed that storyline in the quest to build his avatar and fortunately, he was among the few players that came upon the gift of a yellow mana core quite early in the game.
The goblin was defeated.
Damon had won the match and completed the side quest along with the storyline of the [Pinana Village].
The prompts popped up immediately to deliver the news of his victory with happiness all over Damon's face.

Damon nodded as he glanced with satisfaction at his profile.
He proceeded to check his inventory, looking to upgrade his main weapon — his shield.

Another dropdown appeared following the click on «Upgrade».
'Hmm'. With his eyes glued to the blue box of texts, Damon held his chin in thought.
'Tch, can't upgrade. I have to get to at least level 3 to use the first free upgrade.'
Damon shifted his attention to the next most important to him and that was the Crimson Spire.
He pulled up the map and locked in his location, activating the [Teleport] skill of his map.
[Map skill «Teleport» has been activated]
[Location: Crimson Spire]
A second after doing this, Damon was summoned into a room, transported in a pillar of light.
With the light disappearing, Damon found himself inside an unusual space.
It appeared to be a hall with ancient runic carvings all over its walls.
"What is this place?" he wondered while turning around to get a better view of the room.
"Welcome..." a deep voice said, startling Damon.
"Equip shield," Damon commanded, not wanting to be taken unawares.
His shield manifested on his arm instantly and Damon proceeded a little more cautiously.
"...to the 1st floor of the Crimson Spire," the unknown voice completed its initial sentence.
