"Hey, Pucci...were you aware?" DIO started as he lay on his back reading a book depicting the Mona Lisa. "An average of 40,000 people visit the Louvre per day?"
"It's the most sought-out museum on Earth." Enrico, not too sure where DIO was going with this monologue paid a single ear to listen. "It opened August 10, 1793. So this guarantees that every single day; before they decide to leave the museum behind, 40,000 humans will choose to see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo."
There was that distinction again, humans. Enrico sat up as DIO finished his train of thought by saying, "Isn't it fascinating?"
"When you said fascinating, did you mean the numbers?" Enrico asked.
DIO flipped to another page, showing another famous art piece, a sculpture this time. "Let me clarify then. I'm marvelling at how brilliant artists can imbue their very souls into something seen as merely cold and inanimate." A small smile crept onto DIO's face as he continued. "As if they're Stands that travel beyond time itself. Wouldn't you agree?"
To this Enrico sat silently for a brief moment, eyes closed, absorbing everything his friend just said. "An intriguing thought I must admit. Though I can see why you'd imply that Leonardo da Vinci and Alexandra of Antioch are Stand Users. What they have accomplished, is the ability to make those in the future admire and imitate their works. For their abilities, could be said to be revolutionary, in a way."
"I suppose so. Though I am also referring to you as well, Enrico." DIO started closing his book to look at Enrico. "Your Whitesnake has the ability to holy manifest souls and preserve them. Not including what it can do now, after your sister's...untimely passing."
Before Enrico could say anything his arm was grabbed as DIO leaned closer to him. Causing him to flinch slightly. "What I'm saying is are you going to betray me someday? Why haven't you attacked me yet? You know my weakness is the sunlight, which is why I sleep all day in the dark."
"You could easily kill me in my sleep. If you were to take The World by turning it into a disc, you can be king also instantly." A cunning, almost happy, though slight, smile formed on DIO's as he said. "Go ahead."
Enrico wasn't sure what DIO was planning, one second they laying down on a bed, discussing art, and the next his only true friend is telling him to kill him. So he did nothing. Nothing except speak.
"I have never even once thought about doing that to you. I have only admiration and respect for those who have nurtured my growth. To help me realise things i never considered." A memory of his sister's passing and a strange feeling he got from his Stand flashed through his mind. "You, who are the king of kings, where will you be? What will you do? I want to be there to see it, to see it through to the end."
"I love you Dio, not with the same reverence as one may love God, but as my first and only friend." A small smile crept onto his face as he finished. "Even if I do find some of your mannerisms a tad strange."
To this DIO brought Enrico's arm towards his forehead, allowing it to sink into it and draw out his Stand DISC, to which Enrico's smile instantly disappeared. Before letting go and distancing his arms away from Enrico's. So far in fact that even he, DIO, doubted that he would be fast enough to stop him from taking his DISC.
And there they were, for a good five seconds staring at each other, tension thick in the air as they both stared at each other. Before...DIO pulled away, getting up, his back now facing his friend. Though something did come out, just not a DISC, which Enrico was now holding in his clenched hand.
"Forgive me, it's quite obvious now, I've insulted you. I never imagined that I would one day meet a human who could so effortlessly put me at ease in conversation. You must understand I was afraid of losing you."
"You'll become a noble priest one day. This I'm certain." Peering over his should DIO continued. "Take that disc, and do as you will. A token of apology as you will. I have released it from my body to you." As DIO continued Enrico began to look down towards his clenched fist. "No matter where you may be, you can be secure in knowing I will always give you power."
Opening his hand Enrico found a strange-looking bone in his hand. Though after a bit of analysis, he recognised it as a foot bone.
-----
After their talk, Enrico stayed with Egypt for a bit longer, enjoying the sights along with Claire.
It wasn't until a conversation he overheard that an idea that would be instrumental to his future came into his mind.
You see, aside from creating DISC's his Stand could also tag them. So if anything were to happen to their users he could be able to retrieve their Stands. So before any of the men that DIO had hired left. He tagged their Stands.
Not an easy feat to do, but thanks to his illusions it made it a lot easier.
Where all their Stands useful?
No, not even close.
Most were useless to him, or too situational for his liking.
But one could never no when one could come in handy.
