Bandits

What shocked Jody even more was that unlike qi cultivation, which needed daily practice to start forming a qi center, his origin power could be suddenly activated without training! His father had casually made his power react, but it almost seemed he was trying to keep this from his wives. He also realized his dad was feeling him out for some reason.

Was he suspicious? But of what? Jody didn't feel he had done anything wrong just because he could remember another lifetime. After all, these people could use magic! He wasn't even very concerned with this being discovered. Could it be something else?

Jody's birth seemed to foretell some destiny, and he had heard this more than once from eavesdropping on his mother and third mother. If anything felt like a hidden threat, it would be this. What could have been prophesized about him?

"Son, you have been gifted with an incredibly powerful force genesis. Most Sages are born with what we call the Origin Body. Mine makes absorbing origin energy natural and effortless for me! It provides a strong soul defense and increased ease for producing force. The trade-off is it makes you hungry all the time. You need to eat to live. But what we crave is not food. We crave origin.

"The nullspace you felt is called the matrix. The Origin Pool in your matrix is your Force Genesis power container. As you grow stronger, that pool will expand with more power. This is where your origin energy is produced, but it is not the only energy the matrix can accommodate."

Just then, one of the Lord's aides rushed in and bowed before Osiris, a little surprised that he had a baby in his lap. No one had ever seen the House Lord being so intimate with children in the past. However, this wasn't important.

"Emergency report, my lord!"

Osiris raised a brow, saying, "Come here."

The aide walked forward with his back still bent. Osiris touched the man's forehead with two fingers, and Jody saw what looked like another flash of heat for an instant. He started to realize that these energies were invisible to him. In that case, was it the same for mortals? How terrifying. Imagine never knowing when someone uses magic on you until you get zapped into nothing.

"Come, my boy," Osiris suddenly stood up with his son in his arms. "Let us go run an errand for your Uncle Saint. I'll show you what it means to be medjay."

"YES!! Let's see the medjay! Dad, what are medjay?" Jody became extremely excited as he realized what was happening.

Sudden outing!

As someone who seldom left the vicinity of his mother's courtyard, Jody was more than ready to experience the city again. The women around the dining room mostly frowned, but two stood unhesitatingly and followed calmly behind the House Lord as he walked out of the hall while laughing boisterously with his son.

They were the First and Second ladies of House Trillwolf.

"Is there a need for you to come along, little First?" Lylian asked gently, without a hint of emotion in her voice.

"My flighty husband is leaving the nest with my little bird. Should I trust one of your strengths over my own?" Isis replied candidly.

Lylian was speechless, as this was the truth. No one here was guaranteed to be stronger than this woman, especially an alchemist like Lylian. Her battle skills were subpar at best.

"When on the road, always listen closely to my guide," said Osiris to his son as his clothes magically transformed into a more militaristic garb, stunning his son again. "You must never go off into forests, deserts, or other places of danger alone...not until you are much older. If I am not by your side, do not leave half a step from your mother. This is so you're safe. Understood?"

"Got it, pops!" Jody nodded cutely as his father boarded a luxurious sedan with his wives and two elders of the House wearing wild wolf armor.

The city was bustling with noise and activity. Jody looked around in amazement as he was carried through the crowded streets by his father and his entourage. He had never seen so many people before. The sound of merchants calling out their wares and the smell of spices and food filled the air.

Osiris pointed out different buildings and landmarks as they walked through the streets, telling Jody stories about their history. Jody listened with rapt attention, his eyes wide as he took in everything around him. He felt a sense of wonder and awe at the grandiosity of it all.

But then, the atmosphere changed. Jody could sense a tension in the air. It was as if the very energy of the city had shifted. Suddenly, his father and his wives were on high alert.

Within minutes, they faced a group of armed bandits who had taken over a section of the city. They were covered in rough-looking armor, weapons clutched tightly in their hands. Jody could see the fear and worry etched on the faces of the people around them. And then, several of the bandits turned their attention to Jody in particular.

Why watch a kid? Was he a celebrity?

"Look, it's the medjay's brat!" one sneered. "What's the matter, boy? Daddy couldn't keep you safe?"

Jody watched as the bandits laughed and jeered at his father and the medjays. They didn't seem to take them seriously at all. Jody could understand why. Medjay or not, his father was only one man, and the bandits outnumbered them significantly. But Jody felt they were underestimating his father and the power of the Trillwolf.

Osiris' pride in owning the medjay title wasn't for show, right?

Osiris stepped forward, his face stern. He simply whistled sharply. Jody covered his ears immediately as his head was ringing like crazy. Was this friendly fire? What was this old man thinking?

Osiris glanced in surprise at his son. The frequency of that sound was so high that only Isis and the two wild wolf guards winced a little among those present. No one else on the scene reacted. They didn't hear much but wind when the medjay put his fingers in his mouth.

Yet his son had such a strong reaction.

"I'm sorry, my boy," Osiris rustled his son's hair as he smiled wryly. "You're more like the old man than I thought. Next time, next time..."

Jody felt speechless.

Was this the moment for his dad to be so casual? Suddenly, the ground rumbled as numerous shadows flooded the streets out of nowhere. Jody was astonished to see at least thirty of the enormous wolves he would occasionally see back home. They all looked like the heat of their bodies was distorting the air.

Jody already understood that this represented a power he couldn't perceive yet.

'Damn it! I have to try to see as much as I can, or Dad bringing me here will be a waste,' Jody felt nothing but excitement when he saw the army of at least three-meter-tall wolves.

Jody could sense the power and authority his father commanded, and he felt a sense of pride and admiration towards him. He had always known his father was a great warrior, but seeing him in action like this was entirely different.

Did these bandits even stand a chance?

"So...would you mind running that by us again?" Lylian suddenly stepped beside Osiris and spoke sluggishly to the scowling and grimacing bandits ahead.

"The Pharaoh has ordered us medjays to come in and restore order," Osiris said in a low voice, his eyes scanning the crowd. "Who wants to disagree first?"

The bandits sneered and raised their weapons, but before they could move, the massive wolves charged forward with a bone-chilling howl. The bandits were caught off guard. Within moments, the sheer strength and ferocity of the wild beasts overpowered them.

Jody watched in awe as his father and the wolves worked together in perfect harmony, taking down each bandit with deadly precision. It was like watching a dance but with swords and teeth instead of graceful movements.

Even when one of the bandits managed to land a hit on Osiris, the medjay didn't falter. He retaliated with a swift strike that left the bandit groaning and writhing on the ground in pain. The wild wolf guards fearlessly attacked with precision. Jody's mother also joined the fray. He could see the sweat on their foreheads as they all moved at blur-like speeds.

Jody knew his parents were influential, but this action level was remarkable. This madman of a father was still holding Jody while pursuing justice! Who does that? What style! It was like watching a god come down to earth and dispense justice with a flick of his wrist.

The bandits exchanged wary glances, but none of them backed down. One of them stepped forward, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword.

"We don't take kindly to outsiders coming in and telling us what to do," he spat, his eyes narrowing.

Osiris rolled his shoulders back, his muscles tensing. Jody could see a surge of energy rippling across his father's body, and he couldn't help but be in awe.

"Then we'll have to teach you some manners," Osiris growled.

The bandits rushed forward with their fists, but the wild wolves dodged them easily, their movements like liquid. Osiris moved in then, his movements smooth and precise. He thrust his fists out, and Jody could see the energy rippling out from his body. It was like watching a martial arts master in action.

Suddenly, the wolves sprang forward without warning, their massive bodies moving incredibly fast and agile. The bandits tried to fight back, but they were no match for the wolves and the medjay. Jody watched in amazement as his father moved with the grace and precision of a war god, his sword flashing in the sunlight.

The bandits fell back, their faces pale with fear. Jody watched as his father and the wild wolves disarmed them individually, rendering them helpless. Even his mothers were smacking bandits left and right. The bandits were defeated within minutes, and the city was again safe.

As the last bandits were taken down, Jody watched Osiris take a deep breath and surveyed the chaos around them. The area was a mess, and the people were traumatized and scared. But Osiris remained calm and collected as if he had just finished a routine task.

"Come, Jody," Osiris said, his voice softening as he ruffled the hair of the boy in his arms.

Jody looked up at his father with heartfelt admiration. He knew that he wanted to be just like his father when he grew up. It was a novel feeling.

Isis also approached his side, disapproval written all over her eyes. Osiris secretly swallowed the boastful words he wanted to tell his son about the battle.

"Must you make such small matters into a spectacle? There are simpler ways to entertain and enlighten our son," said Isis rather coldly, to which the Lord smiled wryly.

This woman made zero attempts to stop him, which could be considered giving him face. Knowing she'd disapprove to begin with, Osiris decided to say nothing. He'd rather fight 1,000 more bandits than fuss with this madwoman.

Jody felt amused seeing his amazing father suddenly humbled by his mother.

As they returned to the Trillwolf territory, Jody couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and adventure coursing through his veins. He had experienced something incredible today, and he knew it was only the beginning of many more adventures.
