Astral State and the Police

Kamila Trillwolf had an inquisitive mind and always wanted to know more. Unfortunately, she was easily flustered, and an even easier feat to accomplish was distracting her. Teaching Kamila was, in fact, not very difficult for Jody. With the study habits and learning tricks from his old world, where behavioral psychology had many advancements, he was able to help Kamila focus.

Jody had the idea to get Kamila more interested in books so that way he could just bring her to the library whenever that darn handle to the faucet that was her mouth was broken.

Just like that, another week passed.

Jody would spend every day accompanying his sister and their parents. At night, he would resume his formula practice. By the end of the week, he had successfully refined his third aiguille and astralis in his left wrist, entering the third level of the Wimpy Man physique! Even the Titan would consider him an extreme talent by formulating at this speed. However, if you considered the difference in lifespans, it was actually quite reasonable.

As he absorbed the astral light into his astralis at night, he marveled at the incredible strength he could feel. He truly felt terrific, easily as strong as he was as a grown man previously. His body was slowly transforming.

Jody learned to pace himself after over-drafting his vital forces during the initial breakthrough. Not to mention that those flames seemed to have done something magical to his body, as absorbing astral light was now far more natural than before.

One more level, and he could start practicing the first technique associated with the first stage, the Fists of Rage! In his previous life's incarnation, along with fist-fighting with thugs on the streets of Black Orleans in his youth, Jody eventually obtained an outrageously robust body. He practiced American-style boxing as well as Thai-style boxing.

A fist technique suited him perfectly!

Every time Jody advanced a level in Titanic Rage, his physique would be tempered to the strength of his astral state of the previous level. That meant that Jody's physical body alone was strong enough to crush a 100-pound boulder at any time. Then, whenever Jody activated the astral light stored in his astralis, his strength would increase by an extra 450 pounds!

This was the Astral State.

Of course, this was only until his astral state ran out. Jody's most active state was now enough to throw 550 pounds of weight around like a frisbee. That was definitely strong enough to do some damage! He was already stronger than some apprentice-level Saints and Sages.

Jody felt excited as he already had two special states he could enter, one of the mind and the other of the body. Would he start glowing if he found a way to enter a soul state?

"In this world, strength is represented by what is known as battle power. Whenever a Sage path expert released their strength and energy, they would stir the reaction of a natural phenomenon of the heaven and earth primary forces," Lady Isis was wearing a stunning azure dress as she coached her son and two of her disciples, Kamila and a boy named Hendrick. "This phenomenon is called the battle force and appears in the form of motes of sagelight. Each of these lights is measured in battle, advanced, or pinnacle power units, and this phenomenon can only be seen with heavenly sight.

"The color and size of the sagelights determine the type of strength and the power tier of its battle force. The number of lights represents the number of power points. Seeing and producing this phenomenon is an ability inherent to Sages, whose eyes contain origin. Our powerful souls give us augmented senses, especially in our eyes. The ability to see, understand, and communicate with the forces of the different planes of existence is one of the reasons the Sage path expert is thought to be more powerful than the Saint path at the same level."

It was not that Saint path experts didn't have any means to see and communicate with these primary skyland forces. In fact, a Celestial Essence Body could do so even more naturally than a Sage, as they would see such phenomena from birth. As for ordinary Saints, they had to first refine their eyes with true essence and soul force. Without doing so, they could not see the skyland phenomenon.

Since his host soul was now awake, Jody's mother frequently attempted to show him this phenomenon. When she released her atmosphere, but his eyes would start to burn before he could see it clearly. After opening his mind's eye and entering the high state, Jody could faintly see nine fist-sized shadows full of mystic symbols in the air behind his mother and countless smaller shadows.

When Isis heard Jody suddenly saw he could see those shadows, she was utterly left without words. He could even see the peak of her power, albeit not clearly.

His mother told him that the vision wasn't clear because he had yet to refine a source artifact, officially becoming a Sage path formulator. He wouldn't have full control over his powers until the heavens sealed his formula with the mortal truth. That he could see it at all was enough for her to confirm the boy would one day be a Spiritual Master.

Nonetheless, how much battle power one had, and the rank of power could be calculated by observing these motes of sagelight. The lowest level of force was known as just battle power or bp, and those lights should be the size of a marble. Even though he couldn't see it clearly, Jody was confident that the sagelights that his mother's force produced were the size of fists!

This meant his mother had a higher tier of power! Unfortunately, Jody could not fathom how strong his mother really was.

The strength of Jody's physique in top form was, in fact, only equal to 700 pounds, or roughly 6.5 BP. He could explode with 750 pounds of strength max, and that was only if he successfully formulated Fists of Rage. This was indeed the bottom of the barrel.

Unless Jody comprehended how to release his atmosphere and make it tangible, or in other words, discovered his battle force, then his physical strength could never damage someone whose battle power was supported by the skyland forces. Of course, that was if he wasn't circulating the Titanic Rage art with the power of twilight.

But he didn't dare recklessly spend his twilight, so he didn't even know how much those circulations would cost. Even then, the damage would be reduced without the battle force.

This is part of what made the Sages of this world so scary. Their battle force's momentum could protect them from damage and even boost their own strength! The higher the realm, the more momentum gathered, then the more benefits to be had.

Jody was still terribly excited.

After all, before this, he couldn't be considered to be inside the barrel at all, being merely a speck of dust underneath it. Unfortunately, even with his current strength, the best Jody could do in a fight would be to annoy a Freshmen Sage at the beginner rank. An intermediate rank Freshmen Sage with 5 BP could maybe slap little Jody to his death unless he used his astral state.

But if he could awaken battle force, the power of his astral state would be more robust!

The Sage Path had seven realms of power. In every realm, there were two stages and five ranks in between each stage. So far, Jody learned about the first two realms, the Origin Scholar and the Origin Scientist. The Origin Scholar and Origin Scientist were both separated into two stages, but the ranks didn't necessarily have the same requirements for advancement.

Jody didn't understand much about Saint formulas at this time, but he was sure he was also a bit weaker than them. He still had a long road ahead of himself. For now, he needed to focus on stepping into the Awakened Freshman stage of the Scholar realm.

"It's true that it would be difficult to focus solely on body tempering in a world where people have control over the world's natural forces," Jody knew from the memories of the Titan that the first two stages of Titanic Rage were all about setting a foundation. They were challenging to master. The real cosmic strength would only come afterward.

But how old was the current Jody?

With that, on top of living the pampered life of a young lord, he was not overly concerned or rushed.

Time continued to pass. Several days later, Jody accompanied his mother on a luxury carriage as they exited the House Trillwolf estate. Jody was incredibly excited as he hadn't been able to leave the House in so long it hurt. Saint Anubis City was enormous as it was the capital of the Empire. Jody saw all sorts of people as the spirit wolves pulled the carriage. Jody's third mother, Omotolani, explained many sights to him and Kamila along the way, as Isis just looked absentmindedly out of the opposite window.

"Third Mother, why is there so much more sand out here? And why are the houses so different?" Jody obviously understood these things on his own. However, he felt it would be strange if he didn't ask such things. Plus, he was far too bored.

"Wealth, Josiah. We can afford to live in an area rich with pure mana. This is why our lands are so verdant. However, this entire region of Pangaea is, in fact, an enormous desert. Very few areas in the West Ward are lucky enough to have verdant land like ours," Omotolani explained patiently.

"Why can't the pharaoh use his magic to make more pure mana?" asked Jody in confusion.

He didn't know how powerful a pharaoh was, but it had to be an immense level of power, right?

"This…" Omotolani was temporarily at a loss for words.

Technically, if the pharaoh dedicated all of his resources to a reformation effort for the West Ward, there would certainly be a drastic improvement after a few years. Merely, this had never been done in all the years of pharaoh on this land.

Why was that?

"Come here, Jody," Lady Isis said calmly, seeing that Omotolani was losing high ground with the child.

Jody immediately retreated to his mother's side, where she put her arm around him and started pointing things out. "Do you see that, son? Those are the death god statues. The statues of the True Pharaoh of Death, Anubis, and his legion of messenger avatars. Over there are the shrines that worship the different True Pharaohs in the Legion of Pharaoh. Over there is the imperial palace. That is where you will be honored with the blessing of the medjay."

"Mother, can you explain medjay again?" Jody asked, suddenly uncertain.

"Medjay are the protectors of the innocent. In this dark land, there is far more evil than good," Lady Isis said with sadness in her eyes.

Jody's eyes shined with comprehension at her words. In his opinion, medjay was basically the police.

His mother continued, oblivious to his thoughts, "We live in a land far removed from the Legion of Pharaoh in the domain of the gods. The True Pharaohs who rule God's Domain all have messenger avatars in the lower dimensions. These messengers inherit their respective god's power, so they are called avatars.

"These avatars are honored as Pharaoh by the people of those worlds. The medjay are loyal only to their messenger and the god that empowers him. As a medjay, you will have full authority to protect the peace of the innocent however you deem necessary. The medjay are also blessed directly by the True Pharaoh they worship as long as they offer faith."

'Yikes, they're police and the church…a super church? A congregated confederation?' Jody thought to himself in amusement.
