Prologue

Daniel's POV (Point Of View):

"So Daniel, we have been in here for quite a while now. But you have never mentioned your family. Any reason behind it?" Asked Andrew.

"Well if I'm completely honest with you we fell out towards the end, you know before the whole incident thing." I replied.

"I want to know of them, same as I told you of mine. Although they are just a bunch of crackheads but still I told you about them when you asked." He replied.

"You really going to do this now Andrew?"

"Yes I wanna know about them. You have been in here for three months now, and not one day did I see anything bad about you or from you. So I really want to know what type of family you came from." He said.

I looked up at him as he dragged a chair across the room and placed it in front of me, he stood beside it for a couple of seconds before sitting and crossing his arms as he leaned back.

"Go on then." He said.

"OK. Here goes nothing. I was born and raised in Salford, Manchester, from English parents. Jack and Mary Hughes. I currently am twenty four years old. My brothers Ben and Austin are twenty eight and twenty two respectively. We have one sister who is Karen, she is the oldest at twenty nine." I took a deep breath as I finished explaining.

"Is that it?" Andrew snapped after about five seconds of silence.

"What else do you want?" I snapped back.

"I don't think you got what I wanted. I want to know EVERYTHING about your family Daniel. And no I'm not going to kill them when we leave." He said as we both giggled a bit.

"Alright fair enough. The problem is that I don't think you are ready for it." I said seriously.

"Surprise me." He replied as seriously.

"Right. We, the Hughes are a billionaire family. We own Anshin."

"Oh my world. No way brother." Andrew interrupted loudly.

"Hey now keep it low. I don't want to get ToughBone's attention." I said.

And there was ToughBone, standing at the end of the corridor. He heard everything we said and started approaching us with a wide smile on his face. He was your typical bully type inmate, huge frame standing at seven feet and two inches, used to be a wrestler and is ready to kill anyone who annoys him. Not a pleasant sight.

Andrew was a teacher in a high school, history teacher. He already had a couple of interactions with ToughBone and they were not pleasant.

"I hear some rich kid is sat among us." ToughBone said as he looked me dead in the eye. "And he kinda annoys me you know. I'm not sure if he knows who I am." He continued.

"I completely know who you are so no need to do this part ToughBone." I said.

"Bad decision." Andrew mumbled under his breath.

"I see you think you know a lot. So let me teach you a lesson then." He said as he grabbed my arms.

It went downhill very quickly from there. He picked me up and dropped me back first on the ground. Then proceeded to beat the crap out of me. It didn't feel good. I had no idea where Andrew went but that was my least of worries while ToughBone was sat on top of me just pummeling away at me.

He stopped after a couple of minutes, not because it was enough, he stopped because he got tired. He stood up while looking down at me, his smile never left his face.

"Well I think you learnt the lesson kid. Don't mess with ToughBone." Then he burst out laughing at me as he left the cell.

I slowly gathered whatever was left in me to stand up, I eventually stood up after some help from a Russian inmate, Sergei. He was about five foot five inches, had a lean body and used to work at an Adidas store, he stole some merchandise and was caught. He just wanted to pay the bills that is it.

"Easy there Daniel, I will go get your food for you in a bit. Also I'm sorry that had to happen." He said in his deep Russian accent, he barely knew any English so me and Andrew were teaching him slowly.

He helped me get to my bed and lay down then he bolted off to get my lunch. I stared at the ceiling while thinking to myself.

'How in the hell did I end up here instead of finishing what my father started.' I thought to myself.

I saw Andrew walk in slowly, he was my cellmate, but I was mad at him because he ran for his life when Ordell (ToughBone) Came.

"Um I suppose you are waiting for an explanation." He said nervously.

"It'd better be good too." I said with a cross face.

"Well you know how I feel about Ordell. He scares me to my bones. You only came here three months ago and I've been here for a little over a year. What happened to you today used to happen to someone on a daily basis back then. He was punished by security and he now does it only when he is annoyed, which is pretty much always." He said before stopping suddenly.

I knew what was going to happen next, he was going to have a seizure, I started calling out for Sergei as loud as I could and instead one of the security came in.

"What the hell Hughes?" He said to me while ignoring Andrew.

"Look at him he needs help." I snapped.

"It's normal he has it when he is scared."

"So you are not going to do anything about it?" I asked angrily.

"No, he lived before, he is going to live now. So shut up before I electrocute you." He showed me his shock gun.

"Alright then go, we don't want you here."

The security guard grinned before leaving.

"Yes Daniel." Sergei came in running. " Oh no not again, I'm out of levetiracetam, I ran out last week when I injected Ordell." He continued.

"Wait Ordell?" I asked.

"Yeah he is actually scared of me, I know his backstory and his weak spots. He is the most insecure inmate here with us." Said Sergei.

"And why exactly do you know that?" I asked.

"Because he thinks I'm a doctor and he comes and speaks to me about his problems once every week. Also no one comes close to me because me and him are decent friends too, I will tell him not to do this to you two again." He explained.

My jaw was dropped after what I heard. The biggest and baddest inmate was the most scared from his backstory.

"Why didn't you tell us before?" I asked a little angrily.

"I didn't think it was a good idea. He doesn't want anyone to know about this. So keep it between us three." He said worriedly.

"Your secret is safe with us." I said.

While me and Sergei were talking he got Andrew to lay down and comforted him after he went through his seizure. It was never a good sight to see him like that. The security couldn't care less about it either which made it even worse.

"Daniel?" Sergei asked.

"Yeah?"

"You don't strike me as someone who would do it." He said.

"Do what?" I asked in confusion.

"Pull the trigger."

"Oh, maybe because I didn't?" I said as I shrugged my shoulders.

"We will never know." He said as he glanced at me for a quick second. "Oh by the way how does your dog manage to come here almost everyday?" He asked.

"Well I got this dog about three years ago, I hired someone to train him to listen to us and as it turned out Spike only listens to me, and obviously we love each other." A smile lit up my face thinking of him. "My father used to bring him here in my first month here, after my father passed away he had already learnt the way here and he just comes by himself now." A couple of tears escaped my eyes at the thought of my father. "The security guard at the main gate used to know my father, he also knew Spike so brings him as a visitor everyday he comes. He is the most loyal dog I've ever seen." I said as tears were running down my face uncontrollably.

As the tears were running down I felt a thump form in my throat. I thought of everything I did before being imprisoned. I thought over and over about where and when it all went wrong.

"For what it's worth you don't deserve to be here Daniel, you are better than all of us in here, and the day will come when you will be found not guilty and be released afterwards." Said Sergei.

This was the first time that Sergei was this emotional in what he said. He is normally the person who cheers us up in situations like this. Sergei was friends with literally everyone, and today I was certain because he said he was friends with Ordell as well.

A little while passed and Andrew got back to normal, Sergei brought us our lunch after getting permission from Mrs. Hudson the food lady. We had our lunch together as we shared some funny stories about ourselves and laughing hysterically.

'What a roller coaster of a day this has been.' I thought to myself.

We laid in the cell for an hour or so, it was very quite for some time. Which was suspicious because there normally are fights going down or something.

I heard a bark at the door of our cell. It was Spike, but no one with him. No security and no inmates. Spike ran towards me and sat next to my bed I petted him for a bit then I stood up after struggling and some help from Sergei and Andrew.

"It isn't looking good." Andrew said.

"Something isn't right, where is everyone?" Sergei thought out loud.

"We have only one way of finding out, let's go see what happened for ourselves." I said.
