This fragile peace

The rest of the day passed in a blur to Davi. It was as if time stood still while Ivo was unconscious -- more than that, it was as if it had somehow rewinded to when things between him and Vice were still good.

It couldn't last. It already showed fraying signs. He would sometimes catch Vice lost in thought; the stars in his eyes clouded over with regret, and it made him wonder what he was thinking about.

But he knew that asking would ruin this fragile peace. And getting an answer would probably ruin more than that.

For now they could pretend everything was fine.

Davi hadn't realised how much he missed the way they used to be. They fit so well together, even with all the disagreements, even with Vice's stubbornness convincing him that there was no real hope for them beyond survival.
