Ivo exchanged a look with Vice. Vital hadn't told them about this. Although, he did mention a change in Ivan, he never said anything about oddly prescient guesses about his own death.
That was pretty significant -- if Ivan knew his days were numbered, then he might have known what his father was planning.
"How could he have known something like that?" Ivo asked, making his tone casual.
For now, they had Lucas at a disadvantage, and he wanted to keep it that way.
"I didn't take him seriously, of course. He was always rather morbid. Probably a consequence of the kind of life he led, and in most circumstances I would been more patient, but it was my wedding day and I was nervous." He cleared his throat. "I snapped at him that if his boyfriend was smacking him around he knew exactly what he had to do to make it stop."
