Delusional sewer rats

Vital got up to his feet with a sigh. "Whatever you were doing in that box, no one's come after you. That's either a very good thing, or a very bad thing. I assume Davi was smart enough to scramble any possible trackers on you."

Ivo nodded minutely.

Vital gestured expansively. "There you go. That's good to hear. Anything at this point is just speculation, but I still thought you deserved to know." He interrupted himself abruptly. "I mean, if you ever found out. I wasn't about to tell you unprompted. What good would that do?"

Ivo hoped Vital wasn't expecting to be thanked for the great consideration he had shown him. What had happened to Ivan was terrible, and he felt sorry, for Ivan and Vital both, but he had nothing to do with it, and somehow still ended up tangled in the middle of it all.

Courtesy of Ivan's psychopath of a father, he supposed.
