This book involves inner conflict too.. so hehe!...I'm outta words.
"One plain, the other with milk right?". I asked as I stretched and collected my coffee with well, Emily's own from the waiter on the drive-thru.
"Here.." I handed Emily her coffee before continuing on the road to school. "Mmmm...creamy" she giggled after taking a sip out of her coffee. "Hmmmm....plain". I teased after sipping mine. "Idiot". She laughed.
"I wonder how today's gonna be". I trailed off. "Probably ends with you getting a new girlfriend". She replied and I broke into a fit of laughter saying; "We both know that's not gonna happen".
The large billboard that read "Prairie Academy" had already indicated to us that our school was near. I swerved into the parking lot praying for an idiot to stand in front of my car so I can run 'em over as I pulled the gear into parking.
"Okay, let's go.. it's time for the assembly". Emily darted up, alighting my car and pulling me out. We then started towards the main building. She pulled me through the bending hallways as we inevitably passed stares, glares and whispers....I looked at her, she didn't seem to mind them she neither did I.
A smile tugged my lips. What did I do to deserve Emily?. I was intimidating, I was cold, always frowning like a sadist, I was unapproachable, everyone thought I was a freak, who cared much?. My best friend was my everything, I loved being infamous.
"We're six minutes early". I grumbled as I plopped down on the available space next to the wall beside Emily.
A/N: I don't think I ever described Emily, I'm sorry about that. She's about 5'2, has a honey blonde hair with an artificial brunette streak. She wanted to look like Leo.
She's light skinned, thin with a well curved hip. Leo admires it an lot, don't tell him I said anything. She's the type to always wear blazers and short skirts. She wears their colours according to the emotion she wakes up in the morning with. It's childish and funny.
"We're missing something", she pointed out. "What?". I asked trying to hide the fact I knew she meant Liam and Lucy. "Nevermind". She brushed me off just as the door swung open and the twins trotted into the classroom, alongside Mrs. Stephanie.
Honestly, I expected them to probably get another seat after the show I put on the other day in the car, but nooo... They were just too persistent and did the opposite. I groaned inwardly as they both plopped down on my bench, their added weight making the plastic structure bend down a bit. *I have a really possessive demonic side.
Mrs. Stephanie seemed preoccupied as she typed furiously on her laptop on the desk before her not even minding the fact that her period had already begun. Well, I couldn't blame her, that woman knew all of us by heart.. And name, so just a mere glance at us would tell her who's absent.
The bench creaked just as Lucy and Liam put their bags aside, Lucy pickup up her phone as usual.
"Good morning" Emily greeted slightly annoyed that they ignored our presence, I didn't care. My lips twitched up a bit, My bestie is finally feeling what I feel.
"Morning" Lucy replied not looking up from her phone. "Hmm.." Liam hummed still seated, head down, eyes closed and arms folded. I could see Emily getting quite agitated.
A/N: So I'm gonna write the telepathic speech in both bold and italics, something like this; Go away. Read up.
Kill him Emily. My mind urged.
"I'm not gonna kill him" she giggled smacking my arm. I glared at her she returned a glance of confusion, Lucy looked up, Liam stared at Emily.
"What?" Emily asked.
"Do you talk to yourself much?". Lucy asked.
Emily didn't still understand so I mentally informed, Telepathy. Luckily, she caught it quick and told them; "Oh, I was talking to my imaginary friend....uhhm..Gabby. She doesn't like Liam much".
Real smooth. I mocked. Why didn't you do something?, She glared at me her brows furrowed into slight annoyance.
Well, what did u want me to do?. I retorted.
I don't know, help...you know I can't control my powers. She snapped in my mind. I angrily turned towards her and returned; I didn't tell you not to be strong enough to control them.
And I didn't tell you to be the weakest in your family!. She finished.
The shock and hurt from the statement made me bang my fist loudly on the table and making everyone turn to me including busy Mrs. Stephanie. Why were they staring. "Ow...shit..Leo... I'm.." Her voice faltered.
"It's okay...save it". I muttered as everyone's eyes trailed mine.
"What are you all staring at?" I growled in an animalistic way as I picked up my school bag and and walked over to Mrs. Stephanie. "Hall pass?" She asked.
"Yes, please". I muttered. She handed me the blue exit care which I gladly took.
"Ooh and Leo..." She called me and I turned to her. "Ma'am?". I answered. "Please, fix your eyes or something, I don't know if that's a symptom of your heterochromia". She smiled at me.
I had no idea what she meant and I was soon yet to find out but I nodded anyways before glaring eye to eye at Emily and the whole class before I left.
-----------------000-------------------
First things first, I walked towards the mirror in the male restroom.. What was wrong with my eyes?. I noticed it almost immediately... my left eye had black veins growing in it, it was turning demonic because of my burst of anger. Emily caused an imbalance. Luckily, not big enough to hurt me.
I took a deep breath and exhaled as I watched the black veins retract to wherever they came from. I knew it wasn't fair to Emily but she should've known better, I can't control my demonic side on occasions and I've warned it about hurting Emily but listen isn't it's strong hold.
I'll probably apologize to her, it was my fault that we both lost control, but that still didn't justify what she said.
Now what was I going to say to anyone who asked?, Normally anyone watching would've just seen me and Emily staring at each other our glares and anger increasing and intensifying periodically until I slammed my fist on the table and black veins spread round my pupil.
"Okay Leo breathe". I exhaled as I walked to the door. "Just don't..... shit!!". My breath hitched when the exit door mistakenly slammed into my abdomen and I heard the laughter of a familiar group as they came in.
Fuck!.
