91 NGJ Chapter 91: Nostalgia

*Slash!* *Stab!*

The first one...

No. He was not the first one.

He was not the first one created to serve his master regrettably. That belonged to his loyal companion Fido.

No, he was the first one crafted by his liege, who personally shaped him with his very hands for one purpose. He was created to serve his master as his shield and blade.

He was Alpha. And that is the reason for his existence.

Yet he was not able to.

*Slash!* *Stab!*

When his liege was in danger he wasn't of help. Against Toji his liege called him, he wasn't of help. Against Riser, he was not of help. Against the Heroes, he was outshined by Wiz and Ddraig, his lieges partners.

It was frustrating. A being made for doing a job it cannot do.

And so, he swung his sword relentlessly. Any moment his liege had no need for him he swung his blade to sharpen the sword that he was. He trained without even a moment of rest in the world contained in his lieges shadow.

Tens of hundreds of thousands of times he relentlessly swung his sword.

And then his liege bestowed upon him a gift. The ability to wield the very energy he himself uses to power himself.

Taking that generous gift from his creator Alpha did not slack. He spent every moment developing that gift. And that disposition had given him a gift much like his master's. His efforts and desires were rewarded.

The ability to serve the Lord of Death as his sword and shield.

...

Instantly, dozens of fish Shikigami appeared, biting down on Alpha. Yet none of their inferior teeth could hope to make it past his Armor of the Dammed. Such attacks were not enough to stop the iron wall that was Alpha from closing in.

From Dagon's perspective, it was like Alpha's presence was growing bigger by the second. He exuded an overwhelming aura of oppressive might. He sent several dozen sharp streams of water that impacted Alpha's head on yet it barely seemed to bother him let alone cause any meaningful damage.

"These fish, are proving, to be, a nuisance." A deep baritone voice rang out. And at that moment Dagon's eyes widened to the absolute limits.

*BOOOOOOOOOOM!*

A violent burst of cursed energy was released from Alpha, tearing apart all of the Shikigami ganging up on him.

Unlike the cursed energy reinforcement used by sorcerers, this was, while similar in concept was different. If theirs was a calm stream his was a raging torrent tearing everything. Cursed energy was gushing out of his body like a raging current.

An ability that perfectly fits a weapon like Alpha.

That's right. It was Alpha's innate cursed technique.

[Curse Burst]

Allows the user to infuse and expel cursed energy in immense amounts to massively enhance their abilities. Simply put, it recreates the effects of a jet burst using cursed energy by using immense cursed energy.

Overwhelming azure cursed energy emitted by Alpha coalesced around his sword, releasing a molten glow before Alpha's figure suddenly blurred his stats were massively augmented by Cursed Burst he vanished from his spot before appearing in front of Dagon.

"No-!"

But it was too late. Before Dagon could even retaliate, like a hot knife through butter Alpha's blade ripped through Dagon. The condensed jet of cursed energy released a giant arc that cut what remained of the domain in half along with it.

Looking at the scene I could not help but exclaim in awe. That was absolutely fucking ridiculous. He just punched a hole through a stable domain expansion and its user with one sword swing.

What the fuck did I feed Alpha exactly?

[Dagon has been slain]

Yeah, that tends to happen when getting hit by Walmart Excalibur Morgan.

Now, I wish I could have said that I got up and absolutely dunked on the rest of Shibuya by myself while spouting cool one-liners but no.

For the next 3 hours as my army rounded up the stragglers, I laid on the ground chugging potions to revive my army slowly. Very painful. As I was doing so my undead brought me the corpses I wanted.

Those were mainly:

Mahito

Jogo

Hanami

Geto

Yuji

and Megummy(Turns out you cant exactly chant for a sacred treasure when you get sniped from a kilometer away)

The rest weren't of too much use to me. And unfortunately, I may have overestimated some of them as the ones who died from Kazikli Bey are mere blood splatters. And it also turns out.

Apparently, there was a chance of getting fucking nothing with this thing.

Turns out their cursed techniques weren't their only skill. I discovered this when absorbing Megumin gave me only 5 Int since it tried to give me his cursed energy which was two tiers below mine.

Well, at least the harvests were not bad in the slightest.

♢—•♦•—♢—•♦•—♢—•♦•—♢

fuck.

I feel like I have been put through a meat grinder and a half.

My body feels like a soggy piece of meat.

Did I finish the Shibuya incident or did it finish me?

Fuuuuuuck.

Even worse is that I feel bloated. It feels like my head is going to split apart. My cursed energy feels brittle and weak. It has been a while since I had forced myself to such a degree. Not only that it felt like my body was somehow filled with conflicts.

Even running RCT through my body does not help to alleviate the pain much. I just slowly have it restore my techniques but it will a hot few hours until they are in good condition.

But I couldn't help but let a smile creep up to my lips. I raised my hand up, and with ease, it transformed into a clawed hand, then a featureless sphere, then a cube, before I let my hand return to its natural shape.

Idle Transfiguration.

An ability that dare I say, is better than my own Create Undead. Honestly, it is such a ridiculous ability that I could even compare it to my [Gamer] ability. After all, how can you get more ridiculous than an ability that can freely alter the shape of any soul it comes into contact with?

If I touch someone that can't defend their soul I can kill them just like that. It would take less than a second to disfigure their soul to such an extent that they would be unable to function. Even if you CAN defend your soul it will still cause immense pain and damage to you.

Trust me, I felt it.

It is not fun.

Hell, if I didn't have Create Undead I would still be able to use this as minion creation. I could clone myself too, if Mahito can then so could I.

Wait, now that I think about it maybe I can use this to improve my clone technique too. With its current level of 21, I can maintain up to 3 clones with my CE and HP split evenly between them. But this also splits my Cursed Energy Output between them too so it's not very viable in a real fight.

With great effort, I pried my aching and sore body off of my bed. I need something to pass the time with.

My eyes shone.

'...I have an idea...!'

I whipped out my phone and started messaging.

...

"Wow, you really look like shit Kira-chan. Did you pick a fight with a god or something?" Azazel said with an amused expression adorning his face. I glared at him coldly in return, trying to harness the inherent malice of humanity through my venomous gaze yet it failed to phase the ever so annoyingly smug Fallen Angel Leader.

He put the drinks he brought on the mahogany wood table in front of my large couch before plopping down on it. Shaking my head I sat on the same couch on the other end as we both got comfortable.

"So? Who stole your body? Or are you a doppleganger? Because the Akira I know would never make a social call. You are pretty bad at this imitation thing you know? Someone as sociopathic and angry as him would never invite me here for a game."

"...Fuck you too, bastard. I am already regretting calling you here. Maybe I am slipping into dementia, well if I was you would probably know, you old bag of bones must be dementia patient one with how old you are." He smiled and laughed loudly, I need to improve my death glare more. Maybe create a cursed technique that gives me eye powers.

"My bad, no doppelganger could replicate that sheer venom. So, Akira you talked about a game you wanted to play together? Consider me shocked, but it does sound fun. I haven't tried video games much, and from how you speak of this game it must be fun if it could get someone like you to stop trying to find a way to kill everything and anything to play for a few hours."

I pulled out the copy of Hota(Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Horn of the Abyss edition) and nodded sagely.

"Indeed, behold, video games, one of the only noteworthy things our worthless race has managed to create." I really want to see how someone like Azazel fares in a turn-based strategy game. He must be great considering he led literal armies and an actual race for a few thousand-odd years.

...

"Really Kira-chan? Necropolis? Isn't it a little too on the nose?" He snickered at me while I took a sip out of the 1000-year-old Hyacinth wine he brought with him. It tasted pretty nice. And yes, I did pick Necropolis and Thant as my hero. The place and man I destroyed not even a month ago.

"I won't lie Azazel, you really did not strike me as a Dungeon guy. I thought you would pick Castle, since, you know, the angels and all."

"Well, I fell for a reason. Besides, Dungeon seems way stronger, it even has Minatours, Manticores, Medusas, and Dragons. It should obviously be the strongest out of the bunch." His reasoning makes sense from a mythology outlook alright.

Not in game balance of course.

...

Azazel picked up on video games very fast. It did not take him more than 30 minutes to get a decent hang of the game. And I must say, after so long and having spent so much in a world filled with supernatural beings and pitfalls at every step it is a nice change of pace playing a game I am familiar with.

It brings me nostalgia and memories of simpler times. When my only worries were not upsetting my... "father" and doing well at school.

As I was reminiscing Azazel spoke casually as he kited a throng of Zombies with his Harpy Hags.

"So, Kira-chan, could you explain why Baraqiel's dead ex-wife is in your house? Or I should say how." He said while taking a sip of his wine. I replied nonchalantly while trying to predict how many more turns he would take to win the fight, probably 48 considering he is taking a throng of zombies with 27 harpie hags.

"Oh you mean Shuri? I learned how to summon people from the afterlife and semi-revive them. Or I should say turn them into cursed spirits that still exist on the mortal coil." Azazel nodded his head.

"Yep, you get more egregious by the minute, don't you? First, an undead legion under your basement, don't even try to act surprised you knew I would notice. And now summoning souls, what you, the Grail?" He shook his head in exasperation at the fact that I had essentially reached the level of a Longinus by myself. Speaking of, hopefully, those vampires are willing to part with their grail or they would part with their lives.

Honestly speaking The Grail and the Femboy's eyes are the only Longinus I am genuinely interested in at the moment. Well except the actual Longinus but there is just no chance for me to get that.

"You can always praise me more. Besides I am far more impressive than the Jesus Cup. Also, I hope that you don't speak to Baraquiche about his ex. If you expect me to hand her over you can wake up." Azazel waved his hand in denial as he struck down the final zombie and claimed the Boots of Speed, the lucky bastard.

"Nah, from how it seems she's pretty content and trying to pry her away from your grasp would be like trying to take a dragons treasure from under their claws. Barquiel doesn't need to know to know for now. But I think you know it's an inevitability. Letting them both get some closure wouldn't hurt no?"

Maybe one day. This is the paranoia speaking but I don't want them to meet until I reach Ultimate Tier and have her affections at above 80.

But those worries are for another time. I have a Governor to crush at the moment.

A/N: Akira finally has his first Hota victim acquired. The full boons from the Shibuya Incident and the abilities he gained from it will be explained more in-depth next chapter.
