Jua Gu woke up to a familiar white ceiling, blinding lights, and the scent of medicine around him. He immediately closed his eyes and sighed. "This is difficult."
"I know," a soft voice answered him.
He flinched to the side only to see the familiar young nurse next to him. She was changing his drips. "You just got discharged yesterday, and now here you are in the same bed…" she mumbled without looking at him. "I'm going to take your BP now," she held his arm.
"Ow!" Jua backed away slightly. "It hurts."
"Where?" she worriedly gazed at him.
"Everywhere… I feel like someone just smashed me with a huge rock," he mumbled, touching his arms and his shoulders.
The nurse gently touched his arms and his shoulders again. "There is no swelling. Your flushed bones have moved slightly. The doctor corrected it again," she motioned him to lay down.
Jua Gu laid down as he was told. "Is there a cure for my condition?"
"Not that I know of. Sorry, kid."
He sighed loudly. "Then I might have to visit your clinic more often," he gazed at the pop-up that was right in front of his face. The golden aura percentage was four. It had increased by two after that great fall he took. That could only mean one thing. He was going to have to take a lot more falls in that kid's place.
The nurse's stare was unrelenting.
He opened his eyes and smiled at her. "I'm fine now, can I leave?"
"Do you need help?" she suddenly asked him.
Jua Gu blinked, confused. "Why would I need help?"
"Is your family abusing you? If so, you can tell me. I can help you. You're too young to go through all this difficulty," she gently patted the top of his head. "So, tell me…"
He contemplated it. It was a great thought to leave that house. But where could he go? His grandma was sick. That young protagonist was in danger. If he left the kid, he might die and this world might collapse. The only way to save this world was to save that kid, help him grow up to be a full adult. Only then will he be able to complete this world.
"Good… now I have a clear goal," he had no reason to live before; now he found his purpose, he was super glad. His lips rose into a small smile.
The nurse peered at him. "I'll give you painkillers. You can take them when it's too painful. Make sure you do not exert yourself too much," she mumbled a list of warnings.
Jua Gu noted it mentally. Saying so, she sat down on the chair beside him.
"Aren't you going to work?"
"Your family members have hired me to take care of you during your stay here," she took out a book from nowhere and started to read it.
Jua peered at her curiously. "Can you teach me first aid? I want to be able to do basic medical care on myself."
She once again looked at him with a hint of pity. "Say, suppose if you are captured or kidnapped by this family."
Jua giggled. "Nope… just want to make sure I protect myself well."
