6# Myth Come True

Adrik suddenly awoke to loud fast booming sound. The herd clustered on a hill gazing over the land. Adrik and Agrafena both looked over the hill and saw nothing, suddenly another loud boom echoed across the terrain and a wild boar sprinted across the field followed by five dogs. Then voices where soon heard, coming closer and closer. Adrik ordered the herd to move farther up the valley. The humans ran passed the hill following the sounds of their dogs barking. Except for one, a curious boy, maybe the age of 16 came up the hill quietly. He saw hoof prints everywhere, then he looked up the valley and saw the herd of white horses. Adrik gulped as the boy came closer. The herd grazed quietly, hiding their horns from the curious boy. The boy came even closer, but the boy noticed something strange about these horses. He noticed they didn't have a horse tail, buy a lion like tail. Some heads raised and the boy's mouth dropped in shock. Adrik gulped and hoofed at the dirt, trying to think of something. The boy inched a little closer, but Adrik could sense he was nervous. Adrik didn't want this boy here, Adrik snorted and kicked the dirt like he was going to charge. The boy was still amazed by these beautiful creatures. Adrik locked eyes with the boy. Adrik began to make a terrible huffing and snorting trying to frighten the boy. The boy began to get nervous as he saw Adrik start huffing and snorting, the boy thought he was evil. The boy quickly loaded a wooden stick and aimed it at Adrik. Adrik gulped and they all ran. A loud boom came from behind Adrik, he turned to see one of the unicorns fall.

Adrik began to get teary as the boy poked the body with his wooden stick. Adrik felt he could just stab that kid with his horn and started his way towards the boy. Adrik watched the boy put his wooden stick down and that's when Adrik came galloping towards him at high speeds. He was almost to them when the rest of the humans came over the hill. Adrik reared and slid trying to turn and run. The men shouted in surprise and the dogs began to bark and run towards Adrik. Adrik raced back towards his herd without being harmed. One of the men came over to the boy and looked at the dead unicorn. "Well done son, well done indeed John." The man said to John who was smiling widely. "Is the boy dead?" Agrafena said sternly. "No." Adrik sighed. "Half of his clan got to them before my horn could go straight into that mongrels tiny chest." Adrik said gazing up at the sky. "You know this isn't good, the humans will be back-" "Possibly! They possibly will be back!" Adrik snorted with anger. "Adrik! Listen, the humans know we exist, or atleast that boy knows, he might tell his entire clan!" Agrafena said sadly as she sat down. Adrik sat next to her. Adrik sighed and looked at the sun high in the sky. "You know I wanted to bring my own foals into this world, but now I can't." Agrafena huffed and leaned her head against Adrik's.

The men and the boy rode back into the village on a wagon. The villagers came out to watch what the men had caught on their trip. The boy opened the back and pulled the unicorn out and the body fell onto the ground. The villagers gasped and were confused. Women shielded their children's eyes. "What the hell is that!?" a man yelled pointing at the unicorn with a staff. "Protect the children!" a lady said picking up her toddler. "As you may know, this bloody thing is a mythical horse called a unicorn." The man said grabbing the unicorn's head. The villagers gasped as they saw the loon tail and the protruding horn on it's head. "They seem to be tame creatures, sorta." The man said picking up it's limp hoof. "This creature came from the wild, no animals from the wild are tame!" A round lady holding bread loafs exclaimed. "Well they let my boy close enough to shoot it! And yes my boy, Johnny here shot e'm dead!" The man said pushing his boy forward. Johnny clutched his gun happily and smiled nervously. There were a couple of claps and hoots for his accomplishment, but the rest of the crowd were silent. "We eaten good tonight!" a lady yelled from her house porch. "No! This creature ain't for eaten! It's was my boy's first kill, I should make it into a trophy for him." The man said and then snapped his fingers. The butcher grabbed a long sword like saw and brought it over to the man and his son. The man severed the unicorns head, cotton maids then took it away to get it stuffed. "John this will be a good birthday present." The man smiled before they walked into the house.
