Inside the training ground, the atmosphere was tense but focused.
"Tsunade, you called us all here because you have something special to explain, right?" Uchiha Madara asked, his tone curious but direct as he gazed at Tsunade.
It was remarkable how far things had come. Once, the idea of Uchiha Madara calmly discussing plans with Hashirama's granddaughter would have seemed absurd. The old Madara would have simply summoned Susanoo and stormed the enemy village without hesitation.
But times had changed, shaped by battles and hard-earned lessons.
"Everyone," Tsunade began, "if you have any medicinal materials in reserve, contact people in your clan to send them over immediately. We've all experienced war before, so I don't think I need to explain the importance of preparation."
"Medicinal materials?" Madara turned to Uchiha Fugaku with a raised eyebrow.
Although Fugaku was the current Uchiha clan head, in Madara's presence, he was still a junior.
"I'll head back and arrange for supplies to be delivered," Fugaku said promptly.
"I'll go as well," another clan leader chimed in.
One by one, representatives left to gather what was needed.
Meanwhile, Reiki was already at work, brewing potions. He had contacted Machuan and others earlier, tasking them with purchasing additional medicinal materials. Prime Minister Sanada had also promised to deliver supplies that evening, and Reiki had arranged for Hanyu Asawa to receive them at the village entrance.
With most of the group gone, Madara turned to Tsunade with a somber expression.
"Tsunade, your grandfather... could you take me to see him?" he asked hesitantly.
Madara had long wanted to see Hashirama, but pride and past regrets had always held him back.
Tsunade nodded. "Alright."
The two walked in silence until they arrived at a concealed rock face.
"Here?" Madara asked, surprised.
The location was familiar—he had often passed by it—but he hadn't realized what lay behind it.
"Inside," Tsunade said, forming seals. Chakra overflowed, revealing curse marks on the rock wall.
"A barrier?" Madara murmured, feeling an inexplicable wave of nervousness. It wasn't often that he felt fear, but now it crept up on him, the kind of unease that accompanies a long-overdue return home.
"Release!" Tsunade said, pressing her hand against the rock wall. A doorway appeared, revealing a dimly lit passage.
The two walked through, eventually emerging into a vast underground space. At its center stood a massive tree, its trunk thick and imposing. At its base was Hashirama's figure, entwined with the roots.
"This..." Madara was stunned.
"Wood Release backfire," Tsunade explained quietly. "The exact cause is unknown, but it seems to be an incurable bloodline disease."
Her voice wavered slightly, but she managed a small smile. Despite everything, this was her grandfather—the man she loved and admired most.
"Can I have some time alone with him?" Madara asked, walking toward the tree.
Tsunade nodded and left the chamber, allowing Madara his moment.
Sitting at the base of the tree, Madara spoke softly. "I'm back. The village we built... it's thriving."
His voice carried a mixture of pride and sorrow, as though speaking to an old friend after a long separation.
Outside the barrier, Tsunade was met by Nawaki, who appeared in a rush.
"Nawaki? What's going on?" she asked, surprised by his panicked expression.
"I want to join the mission to Yucun!" he blurted out, his determination clear.
"The mission to Yucun? The village Reiki just bought? You want to—" Tsunade stopped mid-sentence, realization dawning.
This wasn't about the mission. Nawaki wasn't going to Yucun to help Reiki or complete a task. He was going because of Sara.
"You want to help her, don't you?" Tsunade teased, her smile widening.
"I—uh—" Nawaki stammered.
"Go," Tsunade said firmly, cutting him off. "And don't come back unless you bring Sara with you."
"Wait, really? You're okay with it?" Nawaki asked, stunned.
"Yes, but only if you succeed. Now go!" she said with mock sternness.
Nawaki's face lit up with determination as he turned and headed for the village entrance.
Back in the village, preparations were in full swing.
Tsunade and Reiki were busy organizing and counting potions. Orochimaru and Jiraiya assisted, helping to classify and sort the supplies.
By ten the next morning, the results of their efforts were clear. Hatake Sakumo stood in the courtyard, staring in awe at the mountain of potions that had been prepared.
He had known that Tsunade and Reiki worked quickly, but this was beyond his expectations.
"Alright, this is the last batch," Tsunade announced, handing out a list of potion allocations.
Each ninja received a tailored supply:
Hatake Sakumo: 50 Spirit Potions, 50 Strength Potions, 100 Recovery Potions, 100 Stamina Potions, 100 Rage Potions Uchiha Fugaku: 100 Advanced Spirit-Clearing Potions, 100 Physical Strength Potions, 50 Rage Potions And so on for the rest of the team.
The potions were carefully stored in scrolls, and as each ninja prepared their supplies, a newfound confidence filled the air.
Even Uchiha Fugaku felt emboldened. With such a stockpile, he vowed to leave no stone unturned in Sunagakure.
"Set off!"
With that, the group moved toward the village entrance.
From his office, Namikaze Minato watched the group depart.
Turning to Yamanaka Haiyi, he asked calmly, "Are the preparations ready?"
"Yes, Hokage-sama," Yamanaka replied with a nod.
