Chapter 4 – Training Hard

A few days had passed since then. Guy-sensei visited my orphanage to tell them that he would train me everyday, so they wouldn't worry about my disappearance.

My day consisted of training under his guidance, and every evening, I would return home, eat and rest. It was a tough routine. Mainly physical exercise.

Guy-sensei made me do sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and other kinds of workout. My body, which was unable to do a handstand in the past, could now hold my body weight using just a single hand.

It was truly an incredible feat. One that made my eyes open wide and my mouth dropped in surprise.

And then...

"Your body is strong enough. Let's learn how to use chakra."

Finally, the day had come.

"How, Guy-sensei?"

"You see, there are two ways to control Chakra. The easiest training would be to walk on the water, so... Let's do it immediately!" He raised his thumb, smiling brightly.

"On the water!?"

"That's right! Come, follow me."

Guy-sensei grabbed me by the arm and carried me away. He moved fast, but he was careful enough not to let me feel the wind pressure. Soon, we arrived at a lake.

"Here we are."

He put me down, and then he pointed at the lake.

"Run."

"Eh? On the lake?"

"No. Just run. Run and run and run. When your chakra flow stabilizes, the surface of the lake will break and you will be able to run on the water. You should be able to do it soon."

"Is it okay not to practice walking first? Rather, I can't use chakra yet, Guy-sensei!"

"Just use your guts! You will be able to control it immediately! Hahahaha!"

"..."

What the heck is this guy saying? Honestly, that was what passed through my head. I couldn't believe my sensei would say such a thing.

It was like he was ordering a baby who was born yesterday to stand up and get him a cup of tea.

But, if the result was the same, then there was no reason not to do it. I would try to trust him for now, as I was a blind man in terms of controlling or feeling chakra thanks to my past life.

I sighed and began to run, focusing my mind and concentrating. I could run on the water. All Ninjas could, so I would be able to.

I will do it, or else I will never gain any achievement.

So, I ran at full speed toward the lake.

Splash!

And I fell face first into the lake. 

The cold water and mud made me cough as I drowned.

"Hahahahaha!"

Guy-sensei's loud laughter echoed in the area.

"Come on, you can do it. Just feel the water, and try to move forward. You can do it, Lee. Believe in yourself!"

He encouraged me while laughing loudly. I wiped the mud from my eyes and stood up. My body was wet. Cold water was running down my spine.

Due to how early this was and the fact that we almost entered winter, the lake was freezing. The temperature was low, and the wind blew strongly. I couldn't really handle this.

"Brrrr... So cold..."

I shivered as I ran. The cold air made my body shake violently. Still, I had no choice but to run. There was no time, and I was afraid I would freeze to death if I stopped.

My feet slipped as the surface of the lake was very slippery. It was a miracle that I hadn't fallen into the lake again and only fell on my butt.

"Ouch!"

"Believe in yourself! I know you can do it. You have the passion of youth."

"I don't have any youth!"

"What are you saying? Young boys like you have the most passion for life. The power of youth flows in your veins. Keep going and try to believe in yourself. Try to concentrate. Feel it and move forward. You can do it!"

I was speechless.

This is so unfair. How could this person have so much belief in me when I have none?

I tried to believe in myself, but it was difficult. This was like asking a baby, who was barely able to crawl, to jump over the Grand Canyon.

Still, I couldn't give up.

Concentrate! I knew I had chakra inside me. I just needed the motivation and a way to guide it.

"I can do it. I can do it!"

The more I said it, the more motivated I was. The power of the mind was incredible. I prepared to sprint, believing in myself, but when I took the first step, the surface broke and I fell into the lake. Still...

"Puhaa!"

As I surfaced from the lake, I could see a thin, translucent film on the water. A smile formed on my lips, and I began to laugh. Guy-sensei looked at me strangely, but I kept laughing loudly.

"I did it!"

[Achievement completed. You have received 1x Random Weapon Spin.]

"YESSSSSSS!"

I was a bit embarrassed by how loud I cheered. But it didn't matter, because my effort paid off. I completed the first achievement and obtained a random weapon spin after arduous effort.

"What is going on?" Guy-sensei tilted his head.

"Nothing! Thank you for the lesson, Guy-sensei. Let's continue until sunset!"

My energy had been restored. My body felt warm, and I had a desire to continue training. I could feel the power of chakra flowing inside my body. This was the first time I was able to feel it and it felt amazing! I wanted to get used to this feeling.

I didn't know that it was this easy. Either that I was stupid or Guy-sensei's training had helped me to correct my chakra flow and let me use it by feeling.

Still, I knew that my body wasn't blessed by chakra, so this was good. I managed to use it before getting into the Academy.

"Good, let's continue. It seems that your youth is burning! I will show you how it's done!"

"YEAH!"

I was surprised when Guy-sensei suddenly jumped into the lake, but that was a small matter compared to how happy I was.

My life in Konoha had become brighter.
