Chakra.
A unique energy that everyone is supposedly born with. Not everyone can utilize it but it's there, inside a person's body. It is said that a human being cannot live without chakra, as once they run out of it, they die.
An interesting concept, considering the fact that there were records of a time where humans never had it. It just mysteriously appeared. Was it evolution? Perhaps.
There was a myth and an old folklore about a sage who was the progenitor of chakra. Of course these are all but legends. The tale talked about a being who called himself 'The Sage of Six Paths'. They say he was a god who disguised himself as a mortal man to mingle in the mortal world.
He journeyed the world and along the way taught and helped the common people, in that process he spread the miracles of chakra. With his gift of chakra, he taught the people how to utilize it. Most called it his blessing, as when they received chakra from the sage, all kinds of miracles happened.
Some gained strength equivalent to 10 men, others became immune to diseases, while others were cured of their sicknesses. He was hailed as a god and a protector of the common people.
Indeed, a fascinating legend. Of course legends like these are now considered fake by the modern people. Stating that it was just stories the people of old created to tell to entertain children. I could see where they are coming from. The phenomenon known as chakra is unsolvable, people just believe it to be an evolution of humans with the passage of time.
As for me. I don't really care where it came from, so long as it benefits me in some way. It's been a few weeks since Iruka-sensei, the scar faced instructor, introduced the new lesson. Since then he's told us ways to tap into our chakra. Giving us exercises in chakra control.
I, as someone with quite a bit of free time, practically spend my whole days practicing it. After a while of no progress, I have come into the realization that my massive chakra reserves serve as more of a shackle than a boon.
At the very least, as of right now, it's giving me problems. It's due to my huge reserves that it's taking me quite a long time to control.
Of course I don't really need to perfectly control it. I can still use ninjutsu but it's faulty. Like deploying a jutsu will be more effective with perfect chakra control as well as the jutsu consuming less chakra.
No matter how I tried, I couldn't perfectly control my massive chakra reserves. I could say that at most, I have a quarter of my chakra that I can control. Not too bad, considering the fact that I just started.
I see veteran ninja using it so efficiently as if it was breathing. I was jealous but I also knew that they could do so because of their tens of years of experience. At some point they were struggling to do so like I am now. Everyone starts at somewhere I guess.
At the very least I can now tap into my chakra. Through pieces of documentation I've read, reports and summaries I've peaked within the hokage's office, I can confirm that you could use chakra to strengthen the body.
Like regulating chakra towards my arm would make it harder and stronger. Pulsing chakra to the muscles of my legs and soles of my feet can increase my speed. It was an incredible feeling, for the first time in my life, I felt strong.
Of course it was only a feeling of adrenaline, I didn't really think I was strong. In fact I knew myself to be weak, I wasn't dumb enough to think just because I cans strengthen myself with chakra that I can beat shinobi.
But the best thing that happened to me so far apart from that was unlocking my supposed bloodline ability. As I was in the forest the other day, I was experimenting on different ways to implement chakra through my body. While doing so I felt something within me. A burning sensation as if it wanted to break out, trying to guide my chakra to the source, my chakra eventually connected to it and something unbelievable happened.
Golden Chains erupted from my body.
Of course when it first happened I panicked. Checking to see if there were any shinobi or anbu near the vicinity, before I realized they already knew my routine so they wouldn't bother to stay in the forest to watch me. The anbu would just watch from afar in a rooftop of a building and if I didn't come out of the forest before dark they would check up on me.
After confirming the no chakra signatures near me, I proceeded to check the golden chains that erupted from my back.
Though contrary to normal chains made of iron or chakra metal, these chains were constructs of chakra. Energy given form, though if I try hard enough I can make them spiritual. In that spiritual state, The chains wouldn't be able to interact with anything with physical form.
When I try to touch it in it's spiritual state, my hand just passes through it. Though it passes through it, an uncomfortable sensation passes my hand when it does, a numbing almost burning sensation.
I remember how giddy I was that day. Sure they aren't one of the great dojutsu's like the Hyuga clan's Byakugan nor the Uchiha's Sharingan. But they were mine, my power alone and my own kekkei genkai.
This further cemented my lineage of a shinobi, but not just that. I had a clan, but I couldn't find it. I tried to find files on the name 'Uzumaki' but I couldn't find anything within the library nor any records within the hokage's office.
I don't know whether or not the Uzumaki were a noble clan, but what I do know is that if they were, someone erased their whole history. Normal civilians or shinobi would not be able to get their hands on information about them. Either that or I'm overthinking it. Perhaps I truly am but a hated civilian orphan with a power only unique to me.
Regarding my kekkei genkai, I decided tried to think of a cool name for them. Though I gave up and just stuck with Chakra Chains. What's cool about them is that the ends of the chains seemed to morph into sharp edges like that of a kunai or a spear.
I smirked at the different ways I could use them for offensive combat.
