Chapter 39: Summoning
Uchiha Fugaku was nearly livid when he saw Chiba burn the two scrolls right in front of him.
Even though these scrolls were just copies, they were incredibly valuable.
One of them contained the Uchiha clan's fire release techniques, passed down through generations. It detailed techniques such as the Great Fireball Jutsu, Fire Release: Great Fire Annihilation, and Fire Release: Dragon Flame Jutsu, among others.
While the Great Fireball Jutsu was widely known across the ninja world, the Uchiha clan's version was in a league of its own, vastly superior to others.
But what was truly precious was the scroll documenting the usage of the Sharingan, which contained insights from the single tomoe to the three-tomoe Sharingan. This scroll was an invaluable treasure for the Uchiha clan.
Yet, Chiba didn't appreciate the gesture; instead, he simply burned it. It was as if he had slapped the Uchiha clan in the face.
Fugaku's chest heaved with anger as he glared at Chiba, his face full of fury.
Chiba, however, leaned nonchalantly against the doorframe, his expression mocking as he stared back at Fugaku.
After taking several deep breaths, Fugaku finally managed to calm himself. He said coldly, "Since you refuse the goodwill of the Uchiha clan, we won't trouble you any further."
With that, Fugaku turned and left.
Chiba watched him leave, sensing that this Uchiha was different from the others. Despite what Chiba had just done, Fugaku had remained calm. Most other Uchiha would have attacked on the spot.
Moreover, the fact that Fugaku had come alone to apologize on behalf of the Uchiha clan suggested that he held a high position within the clan.
Chiba called out, "Hey, what's your name?"
"Uchiha… Fugaku," he replied, pausing briefly before continuing to walk away without looking back.
A smirk tugged at the corners of Chiba's mouth. "Uchiha Fugaku, the future head of the Uchiha clan and father of Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Sasuke," he murmured, his mockery becoming even more pronounced.
In Chiba's eyes, Uchiha Itachi's future actions, the massacre of his own clan, were far from just.
Itachi's decision to sacrifice a few to protect the many might seem righteous on the surface, but the ones he chose to slaughter weren't just anyone—they were his own people, his own blood.
Itachi, loyal to Konoha, chose to erase the Uchiha clan in the name of Konoha's greater good. From Konoha's perspective, this was justice. But to the Uchiha clan, to those who still trusted him and were waiting to fight for a better future, Itachi was nothing more than a traitor.
This was a sin, a grave one made worse by the bonds of blood.
If Itachi had only killed the Uchiha who planned the rebellion, or even included Sasuke in his purge, Chiba might have respected him. But Itachi did not.
Instead, he slaughtered every last Uchiha, men, women, and children alike, with the help of Uchiha Obito.
Leaving Sasuke alive wasn't about preserving the Uchiha lineage; it was because Itachi couldn't bear to kill the brother he loved most.
Itachi's massacre became a joke, his act of ensuring Sasuke's survival the final punchline. In Chiba's eyes, Itachi was a brainwashed fool, blindly loyal to Konoha's ideology and deluded into believing he was on the side of justice.
What a hopeless clan, Chiba thought. They didn't need anyone else to destroy them; they were perfectly capable of doing it themselves.
But Sasuke… Sasuke might be interesting.
Just as Chiba was about to return to his training base, Orochimaru's voice called out from nearby, "You're quite clever, Chiba."
Chiba turned to see Orochimaru leaning against a tree, a smile on his face.
Smiling back, Chiba said, "Since they offered it up on a silver platter, how could I refuse? The Uchiha's fire release techniques and the Sharingan training insights will be very useful to me."
As he spoke, two scrolls reappeared in Chiba's hands.
The scrolls he had burned earlier were just empty decoys he had taken from his tool pouch.
When Fugaku was about to leave, Chiba had swiftly swapped the scrolls. When Fugaku wasn't looking, Chiba used high-temperature lightning to burn the fake scrolls, creating the illusion that he had burned the valuable scrolls in a show of defiance.
Orochimaru, arms crossed, walked up to Chiba. "Aren't you worried that the Uchiha will cause you trouble later?"
Chiba tucked the scrolls away and flashed a bright smile. "Not at all. Isn't that why I have you, Orochimaru-sensei? Besides, Fugaku's willingness to apologize on behalf of the Uchiha suggests that their situation is quite dire. They're trying to use me to establish a connection with you."
Orochimaru chuckled. "You have a sharp grasp of the situation. But what you're really saying is that the Uchiha are betting on your future and trying to establish ties with me, the future Hokage."
Chiba grinned, "I wouldn't dare say that, Orochimaru-sensei."
Orochimaru didn't push further, turning instead toward the underground base. "Let's go. I've been busy lately. After helping you contract with Ryūchi Cave today and setting up your training plan, I won't be around for a while."
Chiba followed Orochimaru to the office, where Orochimaru began to explain.
"The Summoning Jutsu is a space-time technique that allows the user to summon creatures after establishing a blood contract with them.
Because this jutsu requires a blood contract, you must use blood as a medium to let the summoned creature know who is calling them. The signer leaves a blood imprint on the contract, and once the creature recognizes it, they can be summoned.
During the summoning process, it's customary to coat your hand in blood and concentrate both chakra and blood in the hand you used to sign the contract. This serves as the summoning medium.
The hand seals required are Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, and Ram. The strength of the summoned creature depends on the amount of chakra used. The more chakra you expend, the stronger the creature you can summon.
That's the gist of the Summoning Jutsu. Now, I'll demonstrate."
Orochimaru bit his finger, letting the blood flow across his right palm before performing the hand seals.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
A puff of smoke appeared, and when it cleared, a large blue snake stood before Chiba.
