30 Ch 29 : Chunin Exam Second Stage

- Forest of Death -

A few minutes have been passed since the beginning of the Chunin Exam Second Stage.

Hibachi, Ami, and Sakura were currently standing on the perimeter of the Forest of Death, discussing what plans they should take for now.

" So, any plans, guys?" Sakura asked the two.

Unsurprisingly to her, the two shook their head helplessly.

But then, Hibachi took a storage scroll from his pocket, and it somehow picked the curiosity of the two girls.

" Um.. Sanada-sensei that we should open this once we get into the second stage. However, I really have no idea what this is."

Hibachi then proceeded to do what Sanada instructed him. He lifted the seal in the storage scroll and opened the things that were stored inside.

Poof!!!

A big smoke appeared as the thing was unsealed.

But when the trio saw what's in front of them, they felt like they were being played by Sanada.

(Sanada-sensei... this is a bit too much, isn't it....) Thought the three disciples in their hearts.

In front of them right now was a complete camping package with tent, bbq, and even some emergency food in the form of bacon and ration.

If the other Candidates were to see this, they would definitely question the three whether they were going to do the exam or go to a picnic.

Nonetheless, this made the problem of survival almost non-existent to them. Now what they needed to do was just to find some weaker team and rob the scroll from them.

Hibachi, who was still speechless, was about to seal the things back to the storage scroll. But then, he found something was slipping near the tent.

' Hm.. what is this..'

Under his curiosity, he took the thing into his hand, but what he saw was something that never even crossed his wildest dream.

' Chunin Exam second stage Guidebook, by Sanada-Sensei. (With 100 lullabies to help you sleep at night).'

" .... "

' What the heck is this!!!!' Hibachi wanted to scream in his heart.

A special guideline for the second stage of the exam? Isn't this cheating, Sanada-Sensei? Furthermore, what the heck is that lullaby? Do you think this is a school trip?

It took a few seconds for Hibachi to calm himself. At the very least, it was for their own good he tried to convince himself.

Hibachi then proceeded to open the page of the guidebook specially prepared by Sanada-Sensei.

The guidebook really contains almost every knowledge Sanada had about the Forest of Death.

From its basic topology, the wildlife, and also the danger.

There was also some basic info about some participants in the Second Stage Chunin Exam, from the most dangerous one to the non-dangerous one. But the thing that took Hibachi's attention the most was the two "Don't Approach" labels in the book. Gaara of the Sand, and the Genin team from the Hidden Grass Village (Kusagakure).

A few minutes later, Hibachi was done packing the things back to the storage scroll, and the group was ready to set off.

Even though they had all the means to survive the night, they still wanted to at least reduce the distance between them and the tower.

" All set, Hibachi?" Sakura and Ami were waiting from the sides.

" Yup, all good and ready to go!" Said Hibachi cheerfully. He had read all the important information Sanada highlighted in the book, and now his confidence was as high as ever.

The trio nodded at each other and began to move.

After the training with Sanada, the chakra control of the trio could be said as pretty outstanding. They moved from tree to tree without wasting any movement.

And only after a few minutes, the trio had crossed a few kilometers distance away.

At their current pace, it wouldn't be hard for the trio to reach the tower before the end of the day, but suddenly...

" Stop!!" Sakura screamed.

Hibachi and Ami were a bit startled, but they still followed Sakura's command.

At this moment, a few kunai went past through the tree in front of them.

*Swoosh*

" A trap..."

" Yeah, but unfortunately, the one that lay this trap was not a professional." Sakura sighed a relief.

The reason she was able to discover the trap was because the other side failed to fully cover their track and it made Sakura able to notice the strangeness in her surroundings.

Sakura turned in a particular direction as her gaze shifted toward the treetop.

Three Hidden Rain Shinobi (Amegakure) was looking back at them, and from their eyes, Sakura could see that the other party had no good intentions.

The three Amegakure Genin looked at the team which consisted of two weak-looking girls and sneered. "Leave your scroll here, and we will give a face to Konoha for not being merciless."

The tone of the other side was pretty arrogant, and this made Hibachi a bit annoyed.

He was about to go and confront the three, but a hand was stopping him.

" Stop Hibachi, don't let the anger get into your head!"

But at this moment, Hibachi's response was very nonchalant which caught Sakura off-guard.

" I'm not Sakura. Don't worry, I just want to show you that you can trust us with your back for this exam."

Before Sakura could say anything, Hibachi vanished from his spot.

He reappeared behind one of the Amegakure Genin as he spoke in a cold voice.

" Being merciless? You guys are not worthy!"
