Chapter 78: Responsibility
Both Jiraiya and Orochimaru were appalled at the revelation, as they understood the implications of what it meant.
While Jinchuriki didn't really have the opportunity to showcase themselves during the 1st Great Ninja War, the power they hold on both a political and physical level is immense.
They had learned what a Jinchuriki was from both Mito and their teacher, with both telling them about how genuinely terrifying just one of the Tailed Beasts could be.
Viewed as weapons of war, and known to be capable of showcasing untold amounts of power.
Each of them is viewed to have power that can destroy an entire Village.
And the fact that Iwagakure had sent one of their JInchuriki to the Chunin Exams to compete not only raised the level of danger in the exams but even posed a threat to the entirety village.
"Are you positive that they're a Jinchuriki, Tsuna?" Orochimaru asked in a low voice as a massive amount of thoughts passed in his head.
Tsunade simply nodded, with her then performing hand seals to summon Sarutobi to the room.
Sarutobi was sitting at his desk while getting consistent updates on what was happening in the exam.
It was then that he felt the summon, after which he told his guards that he would return shortly and disappeared in a smoke cloud.
He appeared in the room with his three students, a bit confused as to what they had summoned him for, though, after getting told the situation, he looked completely serious as countless scenarios and possible schemes of Iwa passed through his head.
After a moment of thinking, he looked up at the three and spoke
"It seems that this exam will be much more dangerous than I expected. However, if we were to cancel the exams at this point, it could negatively affect the number of mission requests due to disappointing the nobles and Daimyos. But, I'll have a few Jonin from the Uzumaki clan on standby, though they can't get involved unless they fully transform. Therefore, it will be the responsibility of you 3 to defeat these threats to the Village. I wish you good luck."
Hiruzen then reverse summoned himself back to his office leaving his three students looking at him in disbelief.
"THAT OLD BASTARD EXPECTS US TO DEAL WITH THIS???" Jiraiya yelled loudly while full of anger.
"He's correct though. If he were to cancel the exams now, the damage it would do to Konoha's reputation would be extremely large. It would make our economy take a direct hit, and it could change the way we live as a whole." Orochimaru spoke after he analyzed the situation.
"Then it'll be up to us to take down any threats to Konoha in the exam. We simply have to hope we succeed." Tsunade said with a determined look on her face.
The challenge continued for the next 3 days, with everyone who was in Tsuande's class passing the challenge by either getting their escort to the tower or taking down another team and their escort.
Surprisingly, the other three villages only had one team that passed a piece, though it also meant their strength was probably greater that the average.
After being given a few hours to rest and recuperate, the remaining competitors gathered in front of a large battleground.
And, standing on the stage in front of the battleground was the Third Hokage. His current appearance gave off a different feeling from usual though, as the amount of pressure he gave off just from standing there was immense.
'It seems sensei wants to showcase his power without even needing to make a move. I don't think I've ever seen him emit pressure this great. I guessed originally, but now I'm positive that he's grown much stronger in the past few years.' Tsunade thought to herself while looking at the stage.
Hiruzen stared at all the competitors with a blank stare for a few moments, before he finally spoke
"Allow me to explain the next phase of the exams."
