27 Chapter 27: Jiraiya

The situation at the dinner table was extremely awkward, with Hashirama, Haru, and Tobirama wanted to tear Jiraiya limb from limb, while Mito and Ayako seemed to be welcoming the boy with many different topics that went from his likes and dislikes to his hobbies. Tsunade was simply trying to take a page out of her father's book by attempting to erase her presence.

Tobirama seemed to have had enough of Mito and Ayako's fawning as he slammed his knife on the table and asked Jiraiya "So what made you decide to come to our house for dinner?"

Jiraiya's smile seemed to grow brighter, which made the men at the table grow angrier, however Jiraiya still answered as he said "Tsunade-hime invited me, Lord Hokage."

However Tobirama seemed to not view that as a sufficient answer as he asked "Won't your parents grow worried if you are not home?"

Jiraiya seemed to grow sad at that topic, as he looked down and quietly replied "I don't have any Lord Hokage, I'm an orphan. The matron told me they gave me up when I was born. I just got my new apartment for Academy students today."

Mito and Ayako immediately glared at Tobirama, however even he seemed to be affected as both he and Hashirama looked at the boy with pity.

"I apologize, Jiraiya, I didn't realize that you were an orphan. I can't say I know how you feel, but I've seen more than my fair share of orphans in my life, but I'm happy to see you can still smile even in such a stuation."

Jiraiya looked up to see Tobirama looking at him with a smile, which made him happy to see the Hokage looking at him like that.

The conversation then steered towards more lighthearted topics, such as Tsunade talking about how she defeated Hashirama every time they gamble against each other, after which Mito complained about how Hashirama had corrupted her sweet granddaughter. Tsunade also talked about their first day of the Academy which she called easy. However, Jiraiya seemed to have an entirely different experience as he called their teacher Yoma terrifying and that math was the bane of his existence. The look on his face was so hilarious that Tsunade burst out laughing, after which she comforted him by saying she'd tutor him along with their training.

Mito and Ayako also stated their desire to meet Orochimaru, with even Hashirama and Tobirama expressing the desire to do so due to Tsunade's description of his high level of talent.

The conversation continued after everyone finished their dinner, with Jiraiya becoming more and more comfortable around the family.

Jiraiya finally decided it was time for him to go home as he began to say his goodbyes to the family.

"Do you really have to go? We can have you stay in one of the guest rooms if you want to stay."

Jiraiya might have agreed, if not for the intense glare that Tobirama sent his way that made him break out in a cold sweat.

'The Hokage really is scary!' Jiraiya thought to himself.

He quickly responded "No ma'am, I have to get used to my own apartment first, maybe next time."

Ayako seemed to notice something as she turned to Tobirama, who simply turned his head and whistled.

"Make sure you visit again, Jiraiya. You are always welcome in the Senju Compound." Mito said with a smile on her face.

"Yeah kid, make sure you stop by some time. It was fun having you here." Hashirama added.

As Jiraiya was getting ready to go, Mito tapped Tsunade and asked "Aren't you gonna walk your friend home?"

Tsunade went after him, and when Tobirama was about to object, a "kind" smile appeared on Mito's face.

"You're not going to say anything foolish, right Tobi?"

Tobirama simply gulped as he frantically nodded his head, after which Hashirama began to laugh.

However Mito then turned towards Hashirama with the same smile as she asked "And what's this about you still gambling with Tsuna?"

While Hashirama was beginning to go to the Pure Lands, Tsunade and Jiraiya walked in silence to his apartment.

When the two arrived, Jiraiya did something that surprised Tsunade: he hugged her.

However before she could say anything Jiraiya spoke "Thanks for including me Hime. And thanks for helping me today too." he then released Tsunade as he stared at her with a blush on his face.

"And I know you don't like me right now, but I won't give up. I'll prove to you I'm the perfect guy for you one day. Because I am the great Jiraiya, and that's my Nindo. See you later Hime."

Jiraiya quickly went into his apartment while Tsunade was still stunned, but after he closed his door, she blushed furiously as she went home while calling Jiraiya all sorts of names.

However, even she didn't notice the smile that had adorned her face.
