Chapter 116: Disaster

Tsunade and the others departed early to make it back to the base due to the bad feeling Tsunade was having.

Tsunade and the others traveled the pathway back to the camp, with Tsunade realizing that the terrain seemed damaged as if a battle had happened quite recently.

Tsunade and the others sped up their pace even further, with the base coming into sight.

However, instead of the warm and good atmosphere the camp had when they left, a somber and depressing atmosphere could be seen even from a distance.

Tsunade's arrival caused immediate attention to be given to her as Shikai appeared to her.

He seemed greatly injured as he began speaking to her.

"It's good to see you guys are fine. I expect your mission was successful?"

"It was. Now what happened when we left." Tsunade demanded as she looked into Shikai's eyes.

Shikai told her to follow him as he began to count the events of the day prior.

"As we were awaiting your return, we gained information that the constant battle between The Pupper Master Chiyo and The Demigod Hanzo had momentarily stopped. It was then that we were able to sense another large influx of chakra, with it being Chiyo's forces heading toward us. While we were initially defeating them, the poisons that Chiyo used were extremely potent and forced us to retreat into our base. I can guess the reason she didn't attempt to surround us and wait us out was due to her not knowing how long until Hanzo would attack them again. While we suffered only minor losses, the amount that was affected by the poison was almost a third of our forces. And our Medical Ninja is struggling immensely to find a cure."

As Shikai finished, he showed Tsunade the Medical Ward, with it being packed full of Shinobi. She saw that all of her friends were in there, each of them adorned with serious wounds and being poisoned.

Tsunade immediately poured all her chakra into her Jutsu as she summoned Katsuyu in the largest form she could.

"Bring me all the information on what you have been able to analyze from the different poisons. I doubt she would use the same one for all her attacks. Katsuyu, please began healing all the wounds on those who are injured and help me attempt to detoxify them. All Medics are to begin formulating what herbs we may need to create the antidotes, after which any uninjured shinobi will be responsible for locating them." Tsunade barked orders as she immediately began attending to the injured and poisoned shinobi under her command.

She refused to lose her troops to something as trivial as poison, with her feeling it would be a shame on her future title of the greatest Medical Ninja if she did.

Tsunade worked tirelessly on it over the next few hours as she would showcase her skill in Medical Ninjutsu and surpassed even her combat prowess.

~Kumogakure~

On the border with the Land of Lightning, Danzo held his injured arm as he was being debriefed about the losses he had from the first battle with the Kumo Shinobi.

"All together, we lost around a fifth of our troops in this battle, with them either being deceased or critically wounded." Homura explained, the injuries on his body were evidence of the previous battle.

They had been able to keep the battle in their favor, though once the Jinchuriki of the Two Tails joined in, the battle grew immensely more difficult as Danzo, Homura, and Koharu had to hold back the monster.

It was able to send off a Tailed Beast Bomb that took a heavy number of troops out on both sides, leading to the current situation.

Danzo gritted his teeth in anger as he thought about the monster.

"Send a report of what happened to Hiruzen, and let him know that we may soon need reinforcements on this front if the Eight-Tails or the Raikage also join this front." Danzo said, leading to Homura nodding in agreement as he prepared to send the message.

In the first battle of the war between Konoha and Kumogakure, the winner was Kumo.
