A few days later, Kagami Suguru was bored out of his mind.
After the Kyuubi incident, he became an orphan. The Konoha Orphanage had wanted to take him in under the Third Hokage's orders, yet he declined. His parents had a sufficient inheritance for him so instead, he had his house repaired by a few generous shinobi.
He planned to live within the comfort of his own home.
The adults looked at him weirdly given that he was only five years old, however, Suguru just lied and said he had siblings to take care of him. Although most of the shinobi knew it was a lie, they were too busy with other things to care.
Seeing the child's oozing confidence, they let him be.
His thoughts ended here. Looking out of his empty house's window, Suguru sighed. An important question thus came to mind.
"Why can't I use chakra?"
Being in this world meant having the opportunity to use and manifest chakra to form a variety of amazing phenomena, from reviving the dead using Rinne Tensei to carving craters into mountains with an Oodama Rasengan. Unfortunately for Suguru, aside from the chakra that flowed into his special eyes, he couldn't tap into the chakra that flowed naturally through his body.
His training plans and knowledge of the world were thus rendered null and void. All of his excitement was snuffed out in an instant.
Suguru fell into thought once again as he stared at the depressed yet bustling Konohagakure.
'It's clear to me now that I wasn't given a golden finger. Perhaps these eyes of mine are a product of my transmigration. After all, I kind of messed around with my soul while I was coming here. The memories are hazy now, but that was indeed what I did in my dream-like state."
Suguru frowned. Though his transmigration was a mystery, all transmigrations were like that. He didn't worry about the 'why,' instead, he worried about the 'how.'
He vaguely recalled being turned into an ethereal beam of light riding a highway of wailing souls. When he became Kagami Suguru, he flailed around in discomfort before properly settling in.
It was weird.
Shaking his head, Suguru focused on the real world around him. For all he knew, those memories could be his mortal mind's limited comprehension of a more terrifying truth.
Dwelling on such an intangible mystery would drive him insane.
"So, now what?" He wondered aloud.
Should he become Might Duy's student while the Eternal Genin was still alive? If he couldn't manipulate the chakra in his body, then Ninjutsu and Genjutsu were obviously beyond his reach. However...
Suguru shuddered at the thought of the training that required it. He knew his limits as well as his nature.
"I'm not good at working hard..."
After all, he was a procrastinator. Doing something at the very last minute was a thrilling experience whenever he completed his work just seconds before the deadline.
"...But maybe in this world, hard work would be a lot more rewarding."
Suguru sighed for the nth time today. He slammed his head onto the porch and poured chakra into his eyes.
Suddenly, the world changed. He could see anything within a massive radius from a different perspective. However, there was no sound, nor could he see chakra flow like those from the Hyuga clan. His eyes had no other ability aside from that.
He placed his gaze up in the sky, looking down upon the village and its people.
"What's the use of eyes like these?"
All he could do was snoop around. Perhaps the Toad Sage would enjoy having his eyes more than he did.
It left a sour taste in his mouth.
Suguru blinked again and his eyes returned to normal. His bleeding, broken irises mended themselves. The cool sensation he had grown familiar with poured into his eyes.
"...Hm?"
Sitting up straight, Suguru caught the fleeting feeling of chakra swirling in his eyes.
'Weird,' he thought.
He poured chakra into his eyes again. However, no matter what he did, that swirl of chakra never returned.
While Suguru was troubled, trying to figure out what that feeling was, a young Uchiha looking at the sky felt a sharp pain in his eyes. Looking closely, one would see that the young Uchiha had inadvertently awakened his Sharingan for no reason, later baffling him and his family.

Suguru went out for groceries in the afternoon. On his way, he went sightseeing, taking the long route to the commercial area. There was a lot of debris organized into piles. Several Genins were busy using D-Rank jutsu to speed up the cleaning process.
'The funeral of Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina should be occurring soon. Furthermore, a lot of funerals should be scheduled as well.' Suguru paused, 'I have to check when the ceremony for my parents will be...'
Although he never truly met Kagami Rei and Housuka Ayumi, paying respect to the people whose inheritance would now fund him was necessary. It also didn't cost him anything.
After buying some fruits, vegetables, and meat that survived the chaos, Suguru dragged his haul home. A few people glanced at the small five-year-old trying to be independent, thinking that it was both inspiring and depressing to see.
He then cooked himself some soup, experimented with his special eyes, tried desperately to mold his chakra only to fail horribly, and then eventually fell asleep while filled with frustration.
'I have to be patient.' he recited these words like a mantra. 'I have time. I can figure things out slowly.'
Drifting into the world of slumber, Suguru worried for his future.

The days passed in tranquil loneliness as Suguru did his best to try and move his chakra. From meditation to hand seals, he tried everything. Furthermore, he made sure to exercise his body on the off-chance he had no choice but to stick to Taijutsu in the future.
Konohagakure continued its restoration in the background as its people and shinobi moved on. Although there were a lot of lingering emotions, they no longer consumed themselves in complete sorrow.
The Will of Fire burned brightly despite the festering wounds of hatred, meanwhile, the calm after the storm progressed at a snail's pace.
...That was until eventually, Suguru somehow figured something out.
