Chapter 14 : First C Rank Mission

It was hard to but Shikamaru was able to motivate Choji to train with him through food, and thus from that day on, both of them started to train in their free time. Now the only person who could have held their team back was Ino.

Thankfully for Ino, Shikamaru had his own plan, in fact, it was Choji who he wasn't able to help that much, the reason being he just couldn't find anyone to train him or make his progress faster. So Shikamaru only helps Choji to master his own clan jutsu while also improving his attitude towards the shinobi job. Making sure that he doesn't hold back just because of his soft personality.

Ino in this case is much luckier, becuase there are many ways Shikamaru can think of that can make Ino stronger like learning Genjutsu, Mastering poison and getting familiar. There are many ways and Shikamaru planned to make those things happen. 

Unfortunately, he doesn't have any knowledge about Genjutsu and other things he wanted Ino to try learning. Thus he has to find a way for Ino to learn this. Thinking about it Shikamaru just sighed.

Days like that kept on going, and the team did many D rang missions to everyone's annoyance, Shikamaru was so annoyed about those missions that he sent his close there while using that time to do something more productive. 

"I am done with this D rang mission Asuma Sensei, can't we do something else," Ino was the first one to falter under the heavy responsibility of D rank mission.

"Its always the blonds to snap out before everyone, I tell you," Shikamaru muttered.

"Every Genin has to do this Ino, right now you guys are not ready to take more dangerous missions," Asuma took out a cigarette and after puffing on it two times, he said like coaxing a child. 

 "But sensei, we are picking dog poop for the last 2 days," even Choji whined.

"Troublesome," 

"What you too have something to say Shikamaru," Asuma asked, nonchalant and not caring about his Genin team suffering.

"This is a complete waste of time, Come on even you know that we are ready for at least a C-rank mission," Shikamaru said, actually he was not even present there, he was currently practising with his Ten Shadows, trying to figure out many different ways to use them in a fight or other situations.

"Huh, even you Shikamaru," Asuma sighed as he let go of the smoke and thought about it, looking at the poor children in front of him smiling like Dog Poop, he finally decided to show some mercy on them and said.

"Fine, let's see if we can get a C rang mission from the Hokage Office," Asuma replied while rubbing his hair.

"Yay," Shouted Ino while Choji looked relieved.

"Finally, then I will meet you there," Shikamaru said and the next moment he vanished from his position with a puff of smoke.

"Huh, what ?" Choji sounded confused at this. Ino thought understood and their anger soar, here she was getting buried in Poop and that lazy ass send a clone to do the mission.

"Asuma Sensei, this is not fair, you have to say something to Shikamaru. He broke the Konoha Shinobi code," Ino shouted again rivaling the like of Sakura. 

"What code?," Asuma although surprised by the shadow, just sighed and asked.

"He left his comrade behind, should we are supposed to stick with our team," Ino said with rigorous anger.

"Sigh, this is troublesome," Asuma thought.

"Oh you are doing that," Ino comically pointed at her teacher and said.

"Doing what," Asuma again asked.

"You are giving that Shikamaru like 'What a drag or Troublesome Look, you are on his side aren't you," ...

In the Hokage office.

Team 10 stood in front of the Hokage, ready to get their first C-rank mission. 

"So are you sure that they are ready for a C rank mission," Hokage looked at the faces of the young genin, Ino looked ticked off but still was maintaining her smile, somehow. Choji finally got to eat his chips again after the work so he was pretty much happy. 

And on the other hand, Shikamaru was looking pretty haggard, actually, he was training pretty hard just before coming here. 

"Yes, I believe that they are ready," Asuma said as he saw all three of his students staring at him with expectant eyes or depending on what he says murder-filled eyes.

Sarutobi Hiruzen has seen those looks before, 'Ah, those were the good times.' 

"Okay then if you think that they are ready then I might have a Mission for you, this is an escort mission," Hiruzen said and took out a scroll and threw it at Asuma.

But those words almost jolted Shikamaru out of his tired state. There are many missions shown in Naruto, but none as Iconic as the infamous Wave mission. Thinking about it, Shikamaru's face got a little serious.

'This mission is supposed to be done by Team 7. Then how come we are suddenly getting this mission, thinking over and over the only thing I can think of is that something I did that changed the trajectory of the world.' Shikamaru quickly relaxed his tense expression and waited. 

"Escort an Actress to the land of snow, we are going pretty far," Asuma muttered while letting out a breath like he found this a drag.

Shikamaru though heard this and immediately stopped his train of thought, 'Land of snow, this is not the wave's mission ?'

 "What do you think, they are ready for this mission," Hiruzen asked to Asuma.

Asuma too again looked at this team and after thinking about it, finally nodded. "We will take this mission, Hokage Sama," Asuma sharply replied and Hirruzen nodded at this.

"What are you thinking Shikamaru, you are looking worried for some reason," Asuma asked Shikamarum as their team left the Hokage office. He shows the uncertainty on Shikamaru's face. 

"Nothing, it's just a drag going all the way to the Land of Snow," Shikamaru said but actually he was trying to remember the cannon, he couldn't pinpoint where the Land of Snow mission fell in the main cannon line.

Not to mention he can't even remember what happened in this mission, there are many missions which he saw and this particular one was a separate movie. Signing, he just shook his head and went to his home, he needed to prepare and go watch a movie.
