Snap, snap, snap!

Uchiha Obito walked slowly towards Uchiha Shisui, who was hanging lifelessly on the tree. His body was untouched, not even a tear in his clothing. Shisui had proven to be a formidable opponent, wielding the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan and showcasing strength that surpassed even many Kage-level shinobi.

But Obito was stronger.

With the power of his Mangekyō Sharingan combined with the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai, Obito had a significant advantage. More importantly, Shisui's eye technique, Kotoamatsukami, was countered by Obito's ability to phase in and out of reality using Kamui. Thus, in the end, Obito stood victorious.

"Your eyes belong to me now," Obito muttered, stepping closer.

As he neared Shisui's body, he saw that the Uchiha prodigy's heart had already stopped beating—he was dead. A smirk curled across Obito's lips. He raised his hand, extending his index and middle fingers, and reached out to pluck the coveted Mangekyō Sharingan from Shisui's eyes.

But then, something unexpected happened.

The body of Uchiha Shisui, which had been hanging from the tree, suddenly vanished.

"Impossible!" Obito gasped, visibly shocked.

As the owner of the Mangekyō Sharingan, there was no way he could have been mistaken. The person he had just fought and killed was definitely the real Uchiha Shisui, not a shadow clone. A powerful sense of danger welled up within him. He immediately attempted to activate his intangibility with Kamui, but before he could fully phase out, a short sword pierced through his back.

Puff—

The blade, coated in chakra, had pierced cleanly through his body, the chakra infused with a unique destructive energy that rapidly began eating away at his cells. Though the wound was only a single puncture, it felt as if his body had been shredded from the inside out.

Just before the damage could worsen, Obito's Kamui ability finally activated, allowing his body to phase into its intangible state. However, it was too late to prevent serious injury. Blood dripped from both his back and chest, indicating how severe the damage was.

Gritting his teeth, Obito turned around, his expression twisted in pain and anger.

There stood Uchiha Shisui, alive, and the massive wound that had impaled him earlier was gone. However, something was different. The pattern in Shisui's right Mangekyō Sharingan had disappeared, leaving the eye completely white, devoid of any pupil or color, similar to a Byakugan.

"Izanagi…" Obito whispered, realizing the truth.

As someone who had learned from Uchiha Madara, Obito immediately recognized the aftereffects of the Uchiha clan's ultimate forbidden technique—Izanagi. This powerful eye technique allowed the user to manipulate reality, negating any injury or death for a limited time at the cost of permanently blinding one of their Sharingan.

Obito hadn't anticipated that Shisui had mastered Izanagi, nor had he imagined that Shisui would be willing to sacrifice one of his Mangekyō Sharingan to use it.

"Failed..." Shisui muttered, his expression grim.

After sneaking into the Uchiha Clan's secret room and obtaining the clan's forbidden scroll, Shisui had sealed Izanagi into his right eye, setting its activation to trigger upon his death. The plan had worked—Izanagi had reversed his fatal wound and brought him back to life.

Shisui knew that Obito would undoubtedly attempt to end his intangibility to claim the Mangekyō Sharingan, and that moment would present the best opportunity to strike back. However, his sneak attack hadn't gone as planned. Although he had managed to severely injure Obito, he hadn't succeeded in delivering the killing blow.

Swish, swish, swish!

Shisui rushed at Obito with his short sword, abandoning any pretense of defense. While Izanagi was active, he could reverse any damage inflicted upon him, allowing him to focus solely on offense.

"You were willing to sacrifice an eye just to stop me…" Obito muttered darkly, backing away from Shisui's relentless attacks. His chest still throbbed from the wound, but he managed to maintain his composure.

Buzz—

A vortex appeared, and Obito phased into it, disappearing without a trace.

Given that Izanagi had been activated, Shisui would be invincible for a short period. Obito knew that with his injuries, now wasn't the time to continue the fight. He opted to retreat, vanishing into the swirling void of his Kamui.

Shisui, left standing in the clearing, scanned the area warily with his one remaining eye. "Is he gone, or is he hiding, waiting for Izanagi to run out?" he wondered.

Moving quickly, Shisui retrieved a sealing scroll and began collecting the bodies of the eleven elite Jonin who had fallen during the battle, sealing them one by one. With the mission a complete failure, it was time to retreat. If not for the forbidden power of Izanagi, even he would have died here.

Elsewhere, deep within the Uchiha Clan's compound, Uchiha Fugaku was training.

"First gate, Gate of Opening... open," he commanded himself.

The gate restricting chakra on the left side of his brain was unlocked, lifting the brain's natural limits and allowing his body to operate at full capacity. His speed and attack power surged.

"Second gate, Gate of Healing... open."

The chakra gate on the right side of his brain was unlocked, allowing his body to push past physical exhaustion and begin recovering energy by overloading his chakra pathways.

"Third gate, Gate of Life... open."

This gate, located along the chakra pathways of his arms, was unlocked. His body's energy consumption surged further, and a green aura began to radiate from his body, amplifying his strength and speed even more.

"Fourth gate, Gate of Pain... open."

As the next chakra gate unlocked, Fugaku's power surged again, but the strain on his body increased. Pain shot through his muscles as the damage began to accumulate.

"Fifth gate, Gate of Limit... open."

The green aura around Fugaku thickened as his body pushed beyond its natural limits. His strength and speed were further amplified, but the toll on his body worsened.

"Sixth gate, Gate of View... open."

Fugaku's power reached a near-overwhelming level as he unlocked the sixth gate. His blood vessels bulged, and his body radiated a powerful green energy. The damage from the gates was severe, but the cells of Hashirama Senju, which he had grafted from White Zetsu, worked to repair his injuries.

"Huff, huff…" Fugaku exhaled heavily, closing the chakra gates one by one. His body was wracked with pain from the intense strain the technique had put on him.

Despite the damage, Fugaku knew that he had made significant progress in mastering the Eight Gates technique. Thanks to his already powerful physical form as a Kage-level shinobi, he had quickly advanced to the sixth gate. However, he was aware that from this point onward, further progress would be slow and painful.

"But I have my methods… I will master this power," Fugaku thought to himself, determined to push beyond his limits.
