Dinner Conversation

(Minato's House) (Kamui's P.O.V)

Walking through the front door of their small house, Kamui smelled the scent of roast beef in the kitchen. Once she walked through the kitchen door, she saw her family. Her Aunt Kushina was in the kitchen, preparing dinner. Her dad, Minato, was at the table reading a complicated-looking set of notes, while drinking some coffee. Her Mom, Mikoto, was still writing in her clan head guidebook. According to her, it would be a written record of her time as clan head meant to pass on her experiences and advice to the next generation. It's something she wished the previous heads had thought up. They likely hadn't thought of it due to there never being a clan head passing away before they had a ready heir. It's honestly a bit of arrogance to think it would never happen. Lastly, her brother Naruto was sleeping with his head on the table, likely from beginning his own training. Unlike her, he had to spend a significant amount of time working on chakra control. He would be needing it for learning sealing jutsu. They had tried to start him on the literature early, but quickly realized they should wait till he was ten to start. They needed to devise ways to convince him to learn it and the extra two years would provide that opportunity. It turns out that most kids don't like to read as much literature as is required to learn sealing. This is especially true in a village that promotes combat and warfare as exciting things to do. Compared to that, reading was boring.

Kushina was a slightly tanned white-skinned woman in her early 30s with dark red hair and grey eyes. She wore a sleeveless white shirt with a green apron and shinobi open-toed shoes.

Minato was a pale spiky blond-haired man wearing the standard jonin uniform with a dark greyish green vest over a set of dark blue shirt and pants. He had a white cloak with orange flames on the bottom and the words Fourth Hokage on the back in Kanji hung on his chair.

Naruto is a short spiky blond haired kid with a white t-shirt with a black swirl on the front and orange shorts. He had distinct whisker marks on his cheeks reminiscent to a fox. It was proof that he was born as the son of the previous tailed beast container.

Mikoto is a pale white-skinned woman with black hair and deep black eyes. She is wearing red sleeveless kimono top and dark blue shinobi pants. Hanging on her chair was a black haori with a three tomoe sharingan design on the back. It was clear who Kamui based the design of her clothing on. She had taken to wearing this style in the last eight years as a show of change. Due to having to serve as clan head, Mikoto took to wearing cloths that made her status clear to all parties, especially due to the fact that she was a woman in a male dominated clan and needed to remind her clansmen of her current identity frequently.

Sitting down at the table, Kamui looked at her dad.

"Dad, can you teach me how to do that teleportation technique you did to get back here?" Kamui asked suddenly.

Laughing, Minato looked at his daughter with mirth; his wife and lover doing the same.

"Sweetie, it's a really hard technique. It's a technique based around sealing, so you'd need to learn it to a pretty high level." He said nicely. It wasn't much of a surprise that she would be interested. She was very pragmatic for an eight-year-old and it was a very useful technique.

"Really? It didn't look too hard. I didn't get the clearest view of what you did with the spatial energy, but I might be able to get a better picture if you show me again." She said innocently, not knowing how ridiculous what she just said sounded.

Spitting out the coffee he'd been drinking, Minato looked at Kamui strangely. The other two adults weren't much better. Kamui and Naruto were confused at the excessive reaction.

Spatial energy wasn't visible. It's not something anyone, even the Uchiha with their sharingan, could see. Minato could barely feel it when he went into sage mode. It's what helped him reduce the cost of his flying thunder god technique significantly compared to anyone else who learned the technique. The fact that she actually saw the process of his teleportation was mind boggling.

"Sweetie, how did you know that was spatial energy?" Mikoto asked. How did she know what she was seeing?

"It's a teleportation technique, so it should involve space. Since there was a non-chakra-based energy being used for the technique, that's what I call it." She said like it was the most normal thing in the world.

This was again another result of the merger between her and Yume. Yume would steadily store information about energy into her subconscious, which made the conscious learning a lot easier. She did this to make it easier for the knowledge to be assimilated and explained to others. Transmitting information directly into Kamui's conscious brain would cause more trouble than it was worth. She would have no way to explain it and that would draw suspicion. It was easier to let her learn it from others with some internal assistance. The transmission she did earlier was a one time event.

Shaking her head, Mikoto was once again stunned at how gifted her daughter was. What she mentioned was something that was completely new. If she could see the spatial energy, then their techniques related to the subject could possibly be taken to the next level.

Minato finally caught his bearings.

"Well, I can definitely show it to you, but you have to promise to only practice the technique with myself present. I need to be able to react if something happens. Before that though, it would probably be best to practice with manipulating the fire release first." He said helplessly. If she had the talent, he didn't mind teaching her. It's just he'd rather wait till she's gotten better at the fundamentals before she started trying something groundbreaking.

"Thank you dad!" Kamui nodded with a smile.

"In the meantime, do you want to read up on sealing"? Kushina asked, more than willing to help her step-daughter.

"You mean that thing where you blend your intent into chakra and attach it to things?" Kamui tilted her head, her hand grabbing her chin in a thinking posture. She had seen them do that, but she could never understand the purpose for the words.

"What do you mean by blend their intent into chakra?" Mikoto asked. She didn't have much of a talent for sealing and she was interested in what her daughter knew.

Minato and Kushina were stunned by what had been said, but before they could respond, Kamui replied.

"They do this thing where they command their chakra to do things like store stuff and explode. They do this directly on an object by writing words on the item for some reason. I really don't know why. It's the same thing I use to do this." Kamui helpfully replied, while raising her hand. A small ball of fire hovered over it, shocking Mikoto, Kushina, and Naruto who just woke up and hadn't seen her do that before.

"Wow! Can you teach me that!" Naruto exclaimed in wonder. He hadn't seen anyone do this before.

"I can try! Itachi taught me how to do it. I just command my chakra to mould externally in the same manner Itachi did with the fireball, while ordering it to float above my palm. They do the same thing with those pieces of paper from what I can see." She said. She really didn't realize how many rules were being broken with this conversation.

Naruto's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "I don't get it; can you explain it again?" Naruto asked in confusion. This was a little high level for him at this age.

"Sure. From what Itachi sh—"

"Your eyes can read the intent on chakra?" Kushina interrupted, stunned by what she had just heard. Uzumaki's were well known for their sealing, but the reality is that they had a bloodline limit that helped them subconsciously read, understand, and imprint their intent on chakra. It's why they were so good at the art. It was just never publicized for the same reason all clans keep their secrets, safety and combative advantage.

"Pretty sure. I'm still working on it. It takes too long to decipher it through the scrambled thoughts that fill most bits of chakra." She said, not minding the interruption.

"Kamui, that's amazing. We'll have to work on testing that over the next couple of days." Kushina said. She was very interested in the possibilities of this ability.

"As for you Naruto" Kushina started addressing her son. "You probably won't be able to learn what Kamui showed any time soon" He looked down with a defeated expression, disappointment clear on his face. "But there are some things that only you will be able to do." Small chains extended out of her hands. Naruto's eyes lit up.

"That so cool! Show me! Show me!" Naruto exclaimed as he started jumping up and down. Kushina chuckled.

"I'll show you how to do that later. That's something you're going to have to work for" Kushina playfully stated causing Naruto to nod. Kamui kept silent with a smile on her face. She wouldn't point out the obvious fact that those chains were perfectly replicable by her. It would take some time and understanding of their function, but it would be very possible. The chains themselves weren't even a real bloodline limit, just an extension of the Uzumaki's enhanced ability to pass intent through chakra, an ability that she had just proven she had a higher affinity for. It wouldn't do to hurt her brother's confidence though.

"Alright. We can continue this conversation later. Let's eat dinner" Kushina finished as they began to get ready to eat.
