Ch 14: Operation

Inside the operation room, Law, looking at the condition of the Daimyo's son, with a frown, said:

"The patient was injured in a road accident. There's a 5.9-inch open wound on his abdomen. Some parts of the intestines and the greater omentum are exposed and actively bleeding.…"

There were a lot of medical terms which Tenma didn't understand.

But from a normal person's point of view, this was a terrible disaster because the exposure of the intestines was basically what it meant—a person's intestines had spilled out of his body.

Tenma stepped on a stool. Through Law's instruction, he began to operate on the Daimyo's nephew's body.

" Good, continue doing that! Now you said that ninjas could also use something like healing magic? Instruct the guy next to you to slowly heal the broken part while we tried to stitch the intestine."

Law gave his instructions next to Tenma.

If he wanted to, Law could just be the one to do the operation.

But he wanted to give Tenma experiences, and he chose to guide him from the side.

Though, of course, life was no trivial matter. Every time Law sees Tenma almost make a mistake, he uses his ability to cover Tenma.

Tenma instructed Tamaguchi just like how Law instructed him. Mystical Palm Helped repair the wounds. And soon after the wound in the heart was repaired, the first big problem was solved.

Nonetheless, the operation was far from ending.

Tamaguchi's face began to grow pale.

He followed in this operation because of the Hokage's instruction. But in case he failed, there would be a huge recuperation waiting for him.

But now was the most important part.

Because when the two work on their part, a complication happens.

Law, watching from the side, noticed there was something wrong as he informed Tenma:

"On the left, there are three to twelve ribs obviously dislocated, heartbeat is 105. There's severe bleeding. We need to prepare for a blood transfusion…"

"T-Tenma..." When Tamaguchi saw this, his voice became two decibels louder.

"How is it?" Tenma could hear Tamaguchi's agitation. He also heard Law's words, but now the best thing he could do was try to be as calm as possible.

"The bleeding won't stop." Tamaguchi gritted his teeth and forced out the words in his throat.

His face was paler than ever, and his hand trembled.

This might not be the first surgery with the patient's life on the line. But it was the first one with his life on the line.

Looking at Tamaguchi like this, Tenma was quick to realize that Tamaguchi could no longer continue the operation.

He was just about to ask for a personnel change when a few men in weird masks appeared in the operation room.

" You guys-"

" Don't need to worry. We are doctors too, and we have received instructions to help. Also, we have brought some blood for blood transfusion."

The timing of these guys was really on time. To be honest, these guys were pretty suspicious. But right now, Beggars can't really choose.

Tenma just nodded at them, and they continued the surgery, replacing Tamaguchi, who was brought outside.

"The bottom of the patient's Glisson's capsule is bleeding. It's in a bad position and will be hard to suture. If the bleeding isn't stopped quickly, there will be too much blood loss." Said law, which Tenma forwarded to the masked guy on the operation table.

Though none of them here understand what Glisson Capsule is, It only took a few brief sentences for Tenma to explain what he was doing and what they would be doing.

Tamaguchi watches this from the side.

His eyes trembled. All he could think was 'we are screwed.'

But then, a few words made him felt like there was hope to be alive.

"Tenma-san, the bleeding has stopped." The masked guy's voice was one of extreme disbelief. But his face and composure were still extremely calm.

Tamaguchi was now beyond shocked.

He knew there must be a basis for Tenma's confidence, but what was this miracle that he saw?

The most commonly used acupressure technique could be used on patients whose heads and faces were bleeding by pressing on the maxillary artery on the same side and on patients whose necks were bleeding by pressing on the carotid artery of the same side.

It was also very effective to press on one's axillary artery to stop upper arm bleeding.

Once the bleeding was stopped, Law continued to guide Tenma. And though there was still a lot of procedure left to be done, the critical moments had passed.

Almost an hour later, the Daimyo's nephew's condition finally got a lot better.

Looking at his patient stable, Tenma finally had some relief. He looked back at Law, who also had a satisfied smile.

Though there were a lot of mistakes that he needed to cover, Tenma was able to stay calm throughout the operation. And this is what one needs the most to be a good doctor.

The operating room door opened, and Hiruzen revealed himself.

He looked at the Damiyo's Nephew before he looked at Tenma.

His eyes certainly revealed a shock.

What happened inside was clear to him.

Tamaguchi gave up in the middle of the surgery, and Tenma was one that completed it till the end.

But for one to be able to bring someone who had their intestine coming out from their stomach from the door of death back to alive. Was this a miracle?

The Third Hokage wasn't even sure that other than Tsunade, anyone else in Konoha could do so.

Nonetheless, looking at the tired Tenma, he knew he needed to postpone things.

He gave a nod at Tenma, before instructing him to go home and rest. But obviously not before telling him to go to the Hokage's office tomorrow.
