13 Chapter 13: Departure

After a week of training in which Ieri and Nero mastered tree walking and some of the Jutsus they wanted to learn, Yatora managed to learn most of the Jutsus he wanted.

Multiplication and Water Prison weren't that hard to learn, but Hiding in Mist was different. Most Jutsus he learnt until now, either originated from Tobirama Senju, Kumogakure and Kirigakure. Hiding in Mist is the latter. It's a technique from the Hidden Mist, that in theory allows the user to fill the air around him with mist and control its density making it unable to see in it.

But the base alone is very different from any Water Jutsu Yatora learned until now, as it isn't only control the shape of water. Additionally to that, most Jutsus in the library have hints and tips on how to learn the Jutsu, but due to the sheer lack of Water users in Konoha, it seems that no one actually tried to learn a Jutsu that difficult after they forcefully extracted it from the corpse of a foes.

As Yatora was unsure on how to learn that technique, he asked Genma for help, who simply said it would be easier to learn Wind Release techniques to forcefully cool down the air and create mist.

But the boy thought, that that was a near to impossible task. If he was trying to train his wind release properly, he would need to invest at least multiple years until it would be on the same level as his other two releases, which he trained for six years everyday.

Yeah, it would be easy to learn Wind release for the sake of just cooling the surroundings to create Mist in combination with his Water techniques, but that would just be a waste of storage.

They also did their missions, finding a missing cat, gardening and cleaning. The usual stuff.

At the end of the week, Genma came to the training with a slight grin in his face.

"Look what I have here" he said, as he pulled out two scrolls from behind his back. The students didn't answer, because some of them just weren't the type to do that, and some of them were so curious that they were speechless.

Genma revealed the contents of one scroll, but obviously the Genin weren't able to read it that fast, so Genma announced its contents. "This is an official document signed by Lord third. Yatora Soma, you are officially excluded from training and missions for a 4 weeks from now on."

The Genin couldn't believe, what they'd heard and asked questions immediately. "Why him and not us too?" Ieri asked promptly, while Nero was worried about his comrade. "Did Yatora do something bad?"

"Not that I know" The boy in question said.

"He didn't." Genma began to explain, as he revealed the contents of the second scroll. It was a scroll with the explanation for a Jutsu. "This is a scroll for the Summoning Technique I borrowed. Under normal circumstances it allows you to summon an animal you made a contract with. But if you didn't make a contract with any animal yet it instead transports you to the domain of the creature you have a natural affinity for."

[A/N: I know, that that was retconned in Boruto, but I don't consider other fanfictions in my writing]

"Yatora, I'll allow you try and learn that Jutsu, as you're basically Chunin-Level by now. As I already said, you have around a month time to make a contract with the animals of the domain, where you're summoned to. If you don't return in time, I will assume, that you were deceased during your mission. Any objections?"

"Deceased?" Even though Ieri wasn't really fond of her teammate, she still wouldn't want Yatora to die.

"That doesn't sound right, Sensei. Although he's stronger than us, I don't think he's able to accomplish such a feat." Nero said, trying to protect his teammate.

"I have no objections, Genma-sensei." Yatora said with a straight face.

His teammates were shocked at his resolve, but Genma smiled and thought 'I hope you return, kid', as he handed out his scroll. "The Hokage declared this a mission of C-Rank. That means it would be a nice addition to your resume, don't you think?"

"It certainly will."

Genma pulled out another scroll out of his pocket, handing it over to his student, explaining, that it contains a survival kit and different things I would need to survive e.g. foot supplies or something to drink. He didn't know where his student would end up after all.

"You can set off right now, if you want." Genma said.

Yatora decided to do just that. He already explained to Sawada, that he might leave the village for a certain amount of time and it was originally Tomioka's plan to obtain a summon, so Yatora wouldn't have to worry about them.

He looked at the scroll, studied the necessary handsigns and any further instructions.

'I need blood?' Yatora thought and asked Genma about it.

"Oh, that part. Just bite in your thumb and call it a day." Genma said calmly, as it wasn't anything unusual to just bite in his thumb until it bleeds. Yatora knew it was possible, since the only reason we can't bite our fingers off like carrots is our brain.

As Yatora finished learning the Jutsu, he said goodbye. "I'll get going then."

"Don't die, the missions are hard enough anyway." Ieri said harshly, but at least she didn't want him to die, so Genma took it as a win for the side of teamwork.

"Don't take too long or I might be stronger than you when you return." Nero said with a smile to distract himself from the thought, that one of his teammates could end up dead.

"You got this" Genma said with a slight smile on the face.

After the little farewell, Yatora concentrated on the Jutsu. He performed the handsigns, bit his thumb and held the thumb together with the blood on the ground, where a seal appeared.

From one moment to the next a giant cloud of smoke exploded with Yatora at its center. As the smoke lifted, there was no trace of Yatora to be found anymore.

"You think he's going to be okay, sensei?" Nero asked and Ieri looked worried as well.

"Well, I sure hope so."

...

[First Person-Yatora]

Trees.

Everywhere I look, the only thing I see are trees.

They are around the height of 70 meters and some even broke into the 80s. They possess a Trunk Diameter of around maybe 5 to 8 meters, which made me wonder, how they are even able to remain standing.

I looked into every direction, but due to the sheer mass and size of Trees, I wasn't able to look very far in any of them.

I think, the best I can do is to just walk up a tree and look where something is, I could aim to go for.

As easy said as done.

I concentrated my chakra on my foots the moment I stepped on the trunk and started running up the tree.

Oh, the tree over there seems higher. Might as well change trees.

As soon as I thought that I made a jump on a tree around 8 meters away and landed even higher than where I jumped from. Man, passiv Chakra strengthening sure is amazing.

I reached the top and also checked every direction from there.

Looks like I'm exactly in the middle of a division. There were three parts in the forest.

In one section the forest seemed to only grew denser and darker. It wasn't a very pleasant view, but rather a scary one. Not that I feel fear, but I'd rather avoid going there now.

On its right side, was the only part of the forest, where I was able to see something different than trees. But it still wasn't water as I expected it to be, since I thought that my elemental affinity had something to do with my affinity for familiar spirits. So instead of seas or forest, there was a pain filled with hills and some isolated trees. Very far away I was even able to see some Mountains or at least I think that these are mountains over there. Can't be sure over that distance.

In the last part of the forest, which is also the part I think I'll head to, the trees became smaller, the forest became less dense and even had occasional clearings here and there. But the crucial point in my decision was a small brown block I saw on a clearing in the distance. It might be a house, but it had to be a massive one, when I'm able to see it all the way over there.

Alright, I decided. I'm going to that block.

As I thought that I jumped off the top of the tree and caught myself out of the air by grabbing at a massive branch with Chakra strengthened arms and shoulders.

I used the momentum to make a spin around the branch like a Gymnast would do and catapulted me in the direction of the house. I travelled from tree to tree from branch to branch, but something felt strange.

It feels like I was being watched.

But, I never felt that before, I'm not a sensor after all.

It had to be some kind of Jutsu.

"Stop right there, human."

[A/N: Just genuinely curious, what kind of Jutsus would you classify as Yang releas based on its description other than the Akimichi Clan's Hiden]
