New Beginnings

"Man, this fucking sucks". It was all that could be said about the situation Derek found himself in. Stuck under a huge metal beam that was loosened up in the construction site he worked in. What horrible luck, and for the record he never really had any good luck in general, this was just the icing on the cake.

he was born into a poor family, his parents just barely earning enough money to keep them fed and under warm shelter all year round. He didn't have enough money for hobbies like video games and what not, but growing up he liked watching anime that came up on the old and shitty TV that his family owned, shows like Dragon Ball and Naruto often were streamed and these were the only forms of media and entertainment that he had in his life.

All throughout school he worked my ass off to get good grades in hopes of getting into a good university and later on getting a good job to break his family out of the clutches of poverty, all of it was for nothing though as he ended up here anyway.

He could feel tears start to lightly prick in his eyes as the vision in them slowly faded into darkness. He most definitely had feelings of regret and sadness at how he was about to go out but most of all he felt hatred and anger. Towards his fortune, or rather misfortune, and to himself for not being able to accomplish anything.

[Target Found. Synchronization Beginning Now]

'Ah. It seems like I'm going crazy in my final moments too', he thought to myself with a sigh of helplessness. The vibrant colors of life finally faded from his vision as he reluctantly awaited his death. Or at least what he thought was going to happen.

[Synchronization Completed]

The blue box from before had appeared before him once again and the endless darkness that surrounded him was engulfed by a shining bright white light, it felt like someone has shone all the flashlights in the world at him and caused a slight feeling of discomfort.

---------------------------------

His eyes opened once again to find himself in a room that felt familiar and yet unknown at the same time. He suddenly clutched his head as a splitting pain stopped him from being able to process his thoughts. A mixture of images flashed through his mind, memories of someone called Kiryu Takuha, an orphan from the village hidden in the leaves, and then came images of watching the journey of a young boy with blond hair dressed in orange.

The mind splitting headache stopped and everything became clearer. He now had possession of 2 sets of memories, both his but also not his. He was both Kiryu and Derek, merged perfectly into one.

The ending of the headache wasn't enough to put his frenzied mind to a rest though as Kiryu had not only gained an additional 20 years of memories and experiences but had also learned of the future of his world. It wasn't much of a bright future at that.

Kiryu took a deep breath, and just for a moment decided to ignore everything in hopes of recollecting himself. He went to his bathroom and splashed his face with cold water. He looked into his mirror and felt a strange feeling seeing the reflection staring back at him: medium tanned skin, midnight blue hair and deep onyx eyes.He wore a black shirt with blue stripes going down the sides of it and similar black with blue striped cargo pants that had pouches attached on the left leg and two smaller ones on the hips. Having calmed down, he decided it was time to sort through the newfound information.

First off, the memories of his world from Derek revolved around Naruto Uzumaki, the dead last in Kiryu's class in the Ninja Academy. Only a select few from his class/people from all around were seen in the memories, Kiryu deduced that everyone else wasn't significant enough to be seen. 'Including myself', he thought with a grimace. It was not exactly a good feeling finding out you don't amount to anything in the future.

Second, the peace in the village will not be around for much longer, with konoha about to be attacked twice and also a great war in just about 5 years. Kiryu sighed in defeat, two terrorist attacks and a world ending event was going to happen within the span of 5 years and from what he could tell he was a nameless nobody in the future who wasn't even significant enough to be named. It wasn't like he couldn't see why though, before Kiryu was idle, and lazy, not putting effort into any part of his life and all but choosing to be the average Joe.

'That's going to have to change'. Kiryu had a newfound determination and for the first time in his life, there was a fire in his eyes, a drive to do and want something, even if it was something as basic as wanting to get stronger to survive.

Before anything though, Kiryu had to make sure that he at least was able to pass the academy test which took place in two weeks. Taking a peek outside his window, he saw that it the sun very slowly came up, just barely illuminating the village, it was almost time for the academy.

Kiryu tightly clenched his fists as he looked out the window and spoke aloud ever so quietly reaching only his ears. "Things have to change".
