Over the years of ruling over other gods, Zeus had grown bored. Nothing brought him any joy. Love, death, music - nothing. That's why Zeus decided to do something unheard of - to strip away all his divinity and reincarnate as a mortal. - Hello! This is my first fanfiction, so any reviews or power stones are deeply appreciated. Everything happens in Naruto. There is not a lot of emphasis on romance, so don't expect it here. There is no system as well! P@treon: https://www.patreon.com/Zerga3 Discord: https://discord.gg/djq6WyTrUW Note: Zeus reincarnates as a baby, so we are going to explore everything from that age.
Zeus didn't resist going to that Toad Sage because he didn't want unnecessary issues. However, despite the fact that Zeus was going willingly, he was still being followed by a bunch of dangerous-looking frogs. Actually, they looked rather funny than dangerous.
'Still, this place is pretty.' Zeus thought, looking around. After seeing nothing but a laboratory for such a long time, Zeus couldn't help but be in awe of such a place. Even the air here felt much more fresh and sacred than anywhere else.
Soon, Zeus and Fukasaku started climbing another hill, where Zeus caught a glimpse of an enormous white palace. It look mighty and ancient, reminding Zeus of his own divine adobe, which he had decided to abandon. Following Fukasaku, Zeus remained quiet, simply inspecting the surroundings.
When they finally stood in front of the place, Fukasaku stepped forward and put his hands against the enormous doors. For a few instances, Zeus was confused, when he felt the shift in the air, and the doors splattered wide open, caused by one single push.
"That's some strength you have there," Zeus commented, raising an eyebrow. Zeus scanned the old toad with a thoughtful eye, trying to understand from where did such strength come. Eventually, Zeus felt the bliss of nature encircling man, thus making Zeus even more fascinated.
"This is because of my morning stretching routine," Fukasaku answered with a smirk, as he stretched his hands upwards. Then, Fukasaku gestured for Zeus to wait while going inside himself. Zeus remained standing on the spot, waiting patiently. After a few minutes, Fukasaku came back with a frown.
"You can go in. I will be staying here." Fukasaku said, prompting Zeus to depart forward immediately. Fukasaku's eyes fell on Zeus's back, causing his scowl to grow even more distinctive. It was the first time such a thing has ever happened.
Usually, when something so unexpected as Zeus's appearance happened, Fukasaku would be present with the Sage to oversee the progression of the entire process. Yet, this time, the Old Sage was bizarre. He practically insisted, no, commanded Fukasaku to wait outside, saying that an extremely important guest appeared on the Mountain Myoboku.
"Did he have a vision about this man? Is he really that special?" Fukasaku mumbled to himself, seeing Zeus's figure merge with the darkness of the palace. Fukasaku remained standing in the same spot, waiting for the outcome of their conversation.
Perhaps this world was expecting a tremendous change, for Fukasaku had never seen the Old Sage so worked up.
'It's dark as shit in here.' Zeus cursed, walking deeper into the palace. Eventually, Zeus saw the change in the surroundings. Lifting his eyes, Zeus witnessed a giant old frog sitting on a concrete chair. The frog was brown in color, with a white belly. He wore a hat with tassels, which covered some of his stretched wrinkles.
For some reason, Zeus gained an unconscious respect for this toad. He felt the ancient and oldness coming from him, and each of his wrinkles told an unbelievable story. Zeus calmed down and relieved his guard. However, the first words that came out of the Old Sage forced Zeus to feel goosebumps spread through his skin.
"Zeus, the Father of the Sky, it's a pleasure to meet you," Gamamaru said with a little smile, causing Zeus to immediately push the chakra throughout his body. However, he stopped, instead deciding to continue listening. "I have waited for this day for so long..."
"How..." Zeus opened his mouth, yet closed it immediately. This situation had really startled him, so his mind was a bit in turmoil. "How do you know me?"
"I don't know you, God Zeus." Gamamaru's old, sappy voice echoed throughout the palace. "I have only heard about you from my visions...and I have heard a lot of things."
Zeus narrowed his eyes. "Are you a prophet?"
"That's too mighty of a title. I am but just an old toad who wants nothing but peace in this world." Gamamaru answered with an ever-stretching smile, causing Zeus to sigh even more.
Even the way he talked reminded Zeus of those prophets that he had met during his former life. He wasn't that fancy of them, for Zeus thought of fate and revelations as something changeable. Fate could be twisted and clobbered, so Zeus didn't think too highly of oracles. Besides, Zeus always hated how they always went around in circles.
Gamamaru's smile disappeared from his face, turning serious, whilst his eyes became hollow as if someone possessed him. "With the descent of the God of the Sky and the changer of fate, bloodshed shall plunge the world. Humans shall get possessed and the sun shall burn the world, whilst the God of Sky shall be chased. For the earth to keep breathing, mortals have to support Di̯ēus."
Zeus listened carefully, frowning the further the revelation went.
'Humans shall get possessed and the sun shall burn the world.' Zeus recited in his mind, causing two figures to pop into his mind. Furthermore, the part about him being chased...did that mean that someone was going to hunt him? But why?
For now, Zeus decided to sustain making any conclusions. He had never taken the prophets seriously, but this Old Toad had actually said his real name. Only the Gods back in Heaven knew of it, making this Old Toad somewhat believable.
Gamamaru's eyes turned back into sobriety, and he puffed out a lot of air, seemingly having not breathed during the entire saying. "This was the most noteworthy revelation that I have heard about you, God Zeus, but there are many more similar ones."
"So, this world will be plunged into bloodshed, and I have to be one to stop that...that's why I need the support of mortals?" Zeus asked, his face suddenly twisting into something strange after seeing Gamamaru nod. "However, since you already know that I former God, then do you really think that I would require any support from mortals?"
Gamamaru was silent for a few moments when his eyes turned hollow again. "The God of the Sky is someone of stubborn character and an undying will. Getting aid from mortals will be more humiliating for him than being killed by them. However, Di̯ēus is but reminiscent of what he was, and solitude will hinder his growth."
Zeus listened, then clapped his lips together. The Sage Toad had revealed a bitter yet glaring truth. Zeus was no longer a God, but a mortal, thus he shall act as one. He didn't yet have the power to support his arrogance. Sighing, Zeus watched as this huge frog's eyes became clear once again.
"Alright, old frog, you have won this," Zeus mumbled, putting his hands behind his back. "So, if your words are true and a great calamity is going to descend on this planet, how are you planning to help me attain more power?"
Gamamaru smiled and said. "Fukasaku." His voice was quiet and straightforward, yet it traveled through the entire palace. It didn't even take a few seconds before Fukasaku was seen running towards them, clearly prepared for battle. However, he calmed down when he saw that nothing happened.
Gamamaru lifted his left hand slightly, signaling Fukasaku to calm down. "Fukasaku, from today onwards, you will be teaching Zeus senjutsu."
Fukasaku almost choked on his own saliva, his eyes widening in disbelief. "With all due respect, senjutsu is an extremely difficult art to learn for humans. Even Jiraiya, the student of the Third Hokage, took a few years to learn the basics of ninjutsu, and he can't even use that knowledge properly in a battle."
Gamamaru was about to say something, but Zeus intercepted him, focusing on Fakasaku. "The Third Hokage... you mean Hiruzen, right? How is that old man doing?"
Fukasaku glanced away from the huge toad. "You know Hiruzen?"
"Yeah." Zeus smiled. "I am his adopted son."
