Gamaton

Hello, sorry for not posting, I am currently preparing for my finals, so it is quite difficult to find time to write. However, I will try to keep a schedule of a few chapters a week until my finals. Afterwards, the update rate will return back to normal.

Recap: Zeus escaped the lab and beat those four guys!

Genjutsu worked better than expected, and Zeus was quite happy with the results. Influenced by the mind attack, that red-haired woman simply fell to her knees, enabling Zeus to finish her off quickly. However, Zeus didn't enjoy this type of battle that much, as it was really superficial.

He would rather simply overpower someone with sheer force. Still, this jutsu would be useful if he ever needs to gather some information. Even now, Zeus had managed to find out that Orochimaru had left somewhere, thus meaning that Zeus's search through the base was meaningless.

'Let's forget about that snake for some time and just finally get out.' Zeus thought to himself, continuing to walk through the corridor. It has been so long since he had last seen the sky, and he cared little about anything other than getting out right now.

However, as he continued on the same path, Zeus understood that there was rubble in the front, blocking further advance. It seemed that his laser-like explosion had been much more hazardous than he had previously thought.

Zeus was about to turn back when he heard a voice come out from beneath the rubble. At first, he barely registered it, but as he concentrated, it became much more defined. "Hey, you pale human, help me out! I am underneath that rock!"

Zeus glanced downwards, listening to this almost childish voice. It was really light and haughty, making Zeus quite interested in its origin. He promptly found out the location of the being, putting away a few rocks and revealing a thoroughly blue frog underneath.

It looked really fascinating, considering that even its eyes were blue. It was also relatively large, reaching up to Zeus's chest. However, there was a huge metal collar placed around its neck, making it clear that it was a fellow prisoner. The frog blinked its eyes for a few instants. "Thanks, bone-man! Could you also remove this collar for me?"

"A talking frog?" Zeus mumbled to himself.

"I am not a frog!" The blue frog twitched its eyes. "I am Gamaton, a toad from Mount Myoboku!"

Zeus completely ignored Gamaton, putting a finger up to his chin. "Why would Orochimaru imprison a little blue frog here? He really is heartless. More reasons to kill him."

"I already said I am not a frog!" Gamaton shouted. "In fact, I am a really special toad. So special that Orochimaru imprisoned me here!"

"If you are a summon, couldn't you have just got back to Mountain Myoboku by canceling the summoning jutsu?" Zeus asked, his eyebrow raised.

Gamaton slightly tilted his head down, clearly sad. "I have run away from home because of certain reasons and Orochimaru caught me when I was swimming in a lake. I tried to summon myself back, but I was too late because Orochimaru put this collar on me!"

Gamaton pointed at his own neck. "I don't know how it was made, but because of it, I can't summon myself back." Gamaton raised his head back up, scanning Zeus's body from head to toe, eventually sighing. "I thought that you might be able to remove this metal, but judging from your skinny body, I will need to find another option."

Zeus sighed, stretching his hand out and putting it on the Gamaton's collar. This frog was a fellow in trouble and Zeus felt some sympathy for it, despite how it looked. Pushing chakra into his index finger, lightning gathered there, stretching out into a little laser.

Zeus carefully removed the collar from Gamato's neck, causing it to fall against the ground and collide with a sumptuous crash. Gamaton stood in silence for a few instants, his eyes confused, before he put up his little hand on his body, no longer feeling any metal.

Raising his hands into the air and pushing his body to stand on to feet, Gamaton shouted in triumph. "Fuck yeah! Finally free! Thanks, skinny human! How the hell did you do it?!"

Zeus chuckled, thinking that the pose that this frog had taken was really amusing. Patting the creature on its head, Zeus smiled and turned around. "Have a nice trip back, froggy."

"Wait." Gamaton didn't disappear immediately, instead joining Zeus as they walked away from the blocked path. "Since you have helped me, I will also help you find a way out."

Zeus wanted to say that it was unnecessary but decided not to. Walking through these tunnels was really boring, he might as well just use some company in this case. And, as predicted, Gamaton was someone who liked to talk a lot.

"You are so skinny and so wounded...how much time did you spend here exactly?" Gamaton asked, keeping up with Zeus by jumping from spot to spot. "I, for instance, have been imprisoned here for seven months! My friends must be worried sick back at home. I really can't wait to meet them!"

Zeus kept on moving forward, not even glancing at Gamaton. "I think around eight years."

"Damn, you beat me to it. One more month than me!" Gamaton shouted as if it was some kind of competition, but he stopped a moment later, his mouth opened wide. "Wait...eight years?"

"Indeed."

"Haha..." Gamaton laughed awkwardly, continuing to move sometime later, as they encountered another blocked path. Gamaton was clearly feeling really awkward after saying that, so he promptly changed the topic. "It's a blessing from a god that something exploded in the laboratory, right? Otherwise, I don't know for how much longer we would have been enslaved here."

"Yeah, that was indeed some god's work right there." Zeus snickered as they had come across yet another blocked path. However, this time, Zeus didn't turn around, unlike Gamaton. All for one simple reason - the walls here weren't thick. Zeus could almost feel the unlimited free space hidden by the walls.

Chakra flowed through his body as Zeus created a lightning nail within his hands, which reminded him of the time he had struck that huge red fox with it. With some deliberation, Zeus decided to make it a bit smaller. Gamaton stared at Zeus's hands with wide eyes, taking a few bounces away.

With no further ado, Zeus threw it towards the wall, exploding the vicinity. Dust rose into the air, thus momentarily blinding both Zeus and Gamaton. However, Zeus didn't even close his eyes, instead moving forward. Eventually, the dust settled and Zeus took a deep breath, his lungs getting filled with proper oxygen.

A scenery like never before entered his sight. Green trees spread in every direction, while the hot sun beamed in the sky, shining with its brilliant luster. However, despite the sun, mists curled in the world beneath, forcing Zeus to frown momentarily. There were figures in that mist, and there were many of them.

Glancing down, Zeus understood that the base had been originally built within a mountain. Gamaton, still oblivious to basically an army moving towards them, stretched his hands out, looking at the sky. "Beautiful, isn't it?"

"I have seen better." Zeus stretched his hands out, picking up a few rocks from the ground. These might be quite a good weapon. "Hey, Gamaton, it was nice meeting you and all, but you might want to go back home."

"Huh, why?" Gamaton asked, confused, but his face beamed with understanding when a first enemy revealed itself. It was a woman of slender build and completely dark hair. Additionally, she wore the headband of the Mist Village.

Zeus stared at her, then frowned. She smelled of divinity...and it was quite familiar. Perhaps he had felt it in this world before, or maybe it was not from this world at all. While Zeus was still scrutinizing the woman, a bunch of shinobi also revealed themselves from the mist, as they stared at Zeus from below.

"Was that explosion your doing?!" The woman at the front shouted, clearly indicating that she was the leader. "Explain what happened or die!"

Zeus scratched the back of his head, still thinking about the divinity that this woman was excluding. He glanced all around as well, seeing all the enemies slowly moving closer. "What are you?" Zeus asked, pointing at the woman.

She frowned, suddenly agitated. "Everyone attack! Don't kill him!"

Zeus sighed, pushing chakra towards his body, thinking in which ways should he kill these bastards. However, just when the enemies were moving closer, Gamaton extended his tongue and wrapped it around Zeus.

Turning around, Zeus saw Gamaton just behind his back, making some hand seal. As Zeus was about to force himself out of the enclosure, Gamaton pressed his hand against Zeus's back, creating some kind of seal, which seemed quite complicated.

Zeus didn't feel any threat or killing intent, but he was still feeling uncomfortable surrounded by Gamaton's tongue, so he pushed the chakra towards his hands, thus striking Gamaton. The frog was clearly surprised at suddenly being stung, but it managed to somehow keep its consciousness.

Zeus was about to increase the lightning power when Gamaton suddenly disappeared. Surprisingly, Zeus puffed into smoke together with the frog, forcing a silence to descend on the vicinity.

All the warriors stopped.

The dark-haired woman sighed, putting her palm against her face.

Her eyes beamed with pink color.
