Naruto Online: The Strongest Shinobi

Michael, living in a dystopian world devastated by nuclear warfare, discovers a new VRMMORPG game called 'Elemental Nations.' Excited by the opportunity to escape his harsh reality, he purchases the Tier 1 headset and prepares to embark on an adventure. In his cramped living space, surrounded by the remnants of his previous life, Michael contemplates the hardships he and his family endure. The scarcity of resources and the confined conditions serve as constant reminders of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit. As Michael watches the game's trailer, he recognizes familiar elements from the anime series Naruto. His passion for the show in his previous world fuels his excitement to explore this virtual rendition of the Naruto universe. However, in this new world, anime is not as popular, with people favoring slice-of-life stories over war-torn narratives. Equipped with the VR gear, Michael eagerly enters the game, expecting to unleash his knowledge of the Naruto world to become a powerful shinobi. The game's mechanics limit the number of players who can join as shinobi from the five great villages, adding a sense of exclusivity and competition to the experience. With the promise of potentially earning money through the game, Michael sees an opportunity to contribute to his family's welfare. Unemployment and limited opportunities in the real world have left him longing for a chance to make a difference. As the game servers go online, Michael finds himself transported to a new location, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey within the virtual world of Elemental Nations. Little does he know that this adventure will hold secrets, challenges, and the potential for him to become the hero he aspires to be.

Chapter 9: Shikamaru Nara

Chapter 9: Shikamaru Nara

As I walked into the Nara compound, following the directions of some of the servants who were already informed about me, I could see a young boy around my age cloud-watching.

"Ah, you're here." He said, as he lazily turned around a little to look at me.

We both just stared at each other for a while, and I could almost read his thoughts.

"What a drag." He said, as he stood up, and took out a Shogi set, setting it up.

I moved closer to him and just watched as he arranged the board. I could almost see an image of older Shikamaru behind him.

One of the coldest Shinobi in the future, someone who will mature and grow up from this lazy personality he has, and someone any Naruto watcher related to.

"You play Shogi?"

"Never tried. Is it hard?" I asked him, as I mimicked the other side of the board to set the pieces up.

"Not really. Depends on your opponent's level too. My name is Shikamaru by the way. Dad asked me to keep you company if you arrived before he did."

"Mine is Shikomu."

"Funny, I never saw you in the academy. You look like my twin." He said while looking at me. I didn't reply since I didn't have a response. I saw my character's face on the way here and I do look like a carbon copy of Shikamaru.

"Let's just play till dad gets here. Let me explain the rules…"

4 hours.

7 straight losses.

I didn't even have hope while playing.

Shikamaru didn't even break a sweat, and he clearly was not impressed by my rate of improvement since he had been yawning from the start and didn't do his thinking pose at any point of the game.

I was beginning to wonder if I wasted my chance getting a Nara bloodline. How would the game consider my IQ boost to Nara's?

"You met your cousin then, Shikomu?" Asked Shikaku as he walked into the place we were at.

"Yes, he is a monster." I replied while looking at him. He was still yawning.

"Since you're here. I am going to leave…" Shikamaru said as he stood up while slouching.

"I would prefer it if you stayed. I am going to teach him the clan ninjutsu. It would be nice if someone his age was nearby."

"That's such a drag." Was the last thing he said, as he left the room.

"Sigh, what a lazy kid. So, Shikomu. I understand this would be confusing for you. But here, this is the first Ninjtsu I would like to teach you. And then, I wanted to give you a small tour of the compound. You can choose to move in here if you wish to." He explained.

Then, he passed me a scroll.

[You have learned 1 new Jutsu. To use them, weave the hand signs and move the chakra inside of your body]

[You have gained a 100% boost in training speed inside the Nara compound while training their secret Yin release Ninjutsu.]

[You have gained a 100% boost in training speed inside the Nara compound while training any Jutsu]

[Ninjutsu: Shadow Possession Jutsu

Rank: C

Description: The Shadow Possession Jutsu is the signature technique of the Nara Clan, an ability which allows them to control their shadows and use them to control the movements of others. The user has the ability to stretch out and form different shapes with their shadows, which they ultimately use to make contact with another person's shadow. Once contact is made, the affected target will be stuck in place and unable to move their body. The only movements they can make are the movement's of their captor, which they will copy to every minute detail. The only part of the body not affected by this is the mouth and face, allowing the user to potentially interrogate their target.

Proficiency: 1/300]

As I saw the Proficiency bar, I realized I could have used the points I got from the mission earlier from my Jutsu as well. I should really learn to play a bit more carefully. Luckily, I was still early into the game.

I then waved the rat seal as my Shadow moved out slightly.

"That is good, you can already manipulate the Yin aspect. You seem to be talented in this." Shikaku praised.

"Now try to weave your Chakra more finely. Imagine a tap, and you slowly open the tap to allow the sha…" He then started to explain how I could manipulate my chakra.

Considering this was a Nara innate technique, I had 3 buffs of 100% each, I learnt the skill extremely easily and even was able to reach the intermediate level of it at 50 points.

"Shikaku-san. Could you help me in the academy 3 Jutsu as well. I need some help with them, you see."

After that, I even completely mastered the Clone, Transformation and substitution Jutsu by midnight.

I also bonded with him over a meal, which Shikamaru and his mother also joined in.

While I was unable to join Naruto in the ramen shop, I did tell him I might not be able to join.

"So Shikumo, would you want to stay in the compound? I have been keeping brothers…your dads house clean. I can also provide you with his assets slowly so you can join back the clan."

"I would love to Shikaku-San. After all, we are all family."

[You have now been recognised as a Nara by the entire world]

{Congratulations for a player to be the first to gain access to a clan in the entire game}
