Naruto Online: The Strongest Shinobi

Michael, living in a dystopian world devastated by nuclear warfare, discovers a new VRMMORPG game called 'Elemental Nations.' Excited by the opportunity to escape his harsh reality, he purchases the Tier 1 headset and prepares to embark on an adventure. In his cramped living space, surrounded by the remnants of his previous life, Michael contemplates the hardships he and his family endure. The scarcity of resources and the confined conditions serve as constant reminders of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit. As Michael watches the game's trailer, he recognizes familiar elements from the anime series Naruto. His passion for the show in his previous world fuels his excitement to explore this virtual rendition of the Naruto universe. However, in this new world, anime is not as popular, with people favoring slice-of-life stories over war-torn narratives. Equipped with the VR gear, Michael eagerly enters the game, expecting to unleash his knowledge of the Naruto world to become a powerful shinobi. The game's mechanics limit the number of players who can join as shinobi from the five great villages, adding a sense of exclusivity and competition to the experience. With the promise of potentially earning money through the game, Michael sees an opportunity to contribute to his family's welfare. Unemployment and limited opportunities in the real world have left him longing for a chance to make a difference. As the game servers go online, Michael finds himself transported to a new location, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey within the virtual world of Elemental Nations. Little does he know that this adventure will hold secrets, challenges, and the potential for him to become the hero he aspires to be.

Chapter 4: Test

Chapter 4: Test

"Your goal is going to be taking these bells from me. Right now we are inside training ground Z-48." He said. As he did, all 3 of us looked around. It was literal flat lands for a couple tens of meters, and then a couple trees.

"Now, why don't you brush up on the Clone Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu and Transformation Jutsu. I know it was a prerequisite in the academy to pass it but just re-learn it." He said.

As he finished, I got a notification that I was assuming the other 2 got as well.

[You have learned 3 new Jutsu. To use them, weave the hand signs and move the chakra inside of your body]

"It is around 5pm right now. You have an hour. Now, good luck." He said, as he disappeared in smoke.

"What the hell is going on? I am so confused." Ayumi said as she looked at us.

"So am I. What is a Jounin? How are we supposed to defeat someone we cannot even see properly?" Kazuto added.

"That and there are only 2 bells." I reminded them. I knew the objective of this Quest, and I also knew I could not pass alone.

I had to use these 2 properly without telling them how I knew the way to complete the quest.

"Right, so what happens to the 1 who doesn't get the bell? Do they fail the quest?" Ayumi asked.

"How about we look at it like we would inside of a game. When fighting a boss monster, we each take roles and split the loot. The one who gets less loot this time gets more next time." Kazuto recommended.

"But the one who doesn't get the bell gets sent to a different corps. Do you really trust us to come and find you to help you in the future after you get sent away?" Ayumi then asked.

"How about we beat the boss first? If we can beat him then we will probably gain a lot more information." I said.

"Right, so what do you plan to do?"

At this, I decided to share what I was thinking. Patting my back, I saw a familiar pouch that most ninja had, with kunai, shuriken and even explosive tags.

"I have an idea in mind."

(POV Naido)

As I sat down and watched the 3 genin move around, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed.

They did not move like Ninja.

They did not behave like Ninja.

When they tried the academy Jutsu, their execution was horrible.

They did not even try to look around and see where I was hiding. I was not hiding in a way they would not be able to spot me. If I did, they would have automatically failed the test.

But most of this did not bother me.

Every Jounin instructor had something they were looking for.

I did not need them to be perfect ninja.

They did not need to know Ninjutsu, I knew plenty to teach them.

Genjutsu? I knew some of the best Shinobi to recommend to teach them.

Taijutsu? I was one of the best in the village.

Even Shinobi tactics, it is something that is learned through experience. What these 3 need to show me is determination. The determination to learn. To grow. To become strong.

If the Hokage didn't ask me to retire from the Anbu, I would continue with my life as a man on the battlefield.

Before I got lost in my thoughts, I looked back down at the training ground to see the 3 of them sitting down.

It was obvious that the 3 over there were clones. After all, as a Jounin, I could see through the flaws in their execution.

I got down from my hiding spot and walked towards the clones.

Since they obviously had a trap set, I might as well see what it was.

As I walked, I could see uneven patches of dirt on the ground, which was obviously weird. Weird considering the entire ground was specifically made flat by me for this test.

Smiling a little, I already could see their entire thoughts in my head.

I looked around slightly more carefully and could very easily see 2 figures near the trees. They were waiting for me to walk into the uneven patches.

"Ah what is this?" I said loudly, as I purposely walked into the patch on the ground.

As I was about to step on it, 1 of them had gotten trigger happy, and threw Shuriken at me.

'What horrible ShurikenJutsu.' I couldn't help but think, as the Shuriken didn't even come close to me whatsoever.

In return, as I was about to step on the patch of dirt, I stopped my feet and threw a Kunai towards where the Shuriken was thrown from.

"YEEEEEEEE." I heard a female voice as she moved away from the Kunai.

"HAHAHAHA." I couldn't help but laugh. These genin had such a simple plan that it was amazing.

I squatted down to the path of dirt, and moved it, to see a paper tag that would detonate the second I had stepped on it.

The other one hiding in the forests saw this and, unlike the girl, threw all available Shuriken and Kunai he had at me.

If I took them in, I would have to teach them the Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu because this was just amazingly horrible. They didn't need tens, they needed hundreds to even get near their target.

However, I could sense that 1 of the Kunai was off.

As I concentrated a little, I could feel Chakra out of a Kunai, which was obviously due to the imperfect execution of the Transformation Technique.

Right as the Kunai reached me, it transformed into the 3rd kid. The kid known as Shikomu.

As he transformed into his normal form, smoke appeared all around him, and his hand was filled with kunai that had exploding tags attached to it.

He threw them at me, and then began to weave the hand signs of the substitution Jutsu.

"Well played." I said, as I body flickered away.

(POV Matheow)

I knew from the very beginning our plan wouldn't work.

This is literally giving a baby a knife and asking the baby to kill a soldier. It was impossible.

We also didn't get used to any skills yet so I couldn't see anyone in the world passing these missions.

But we could surprise the shit out of our instructors.

As he moved away from his location, he stood in between 4 more paper bombs. While to us, it seemed like we covered our tracks pretty well, to an experienced ninja, we might as well have placed a flag on it and say 'over here.'

"That was smart, I will give you that. But did you really think that would be enough against a Jounin?" He asked, as he dashed towards me and purposefully activated the paper bombs.

As he did, smoke filled the entire vision and I could barely see.

However, I had expected this before already. The only problem was I didn't know how to counter it.
