Chapter 15: Attack

The merchant who had hired me, Ida, was a lot more open with me as soon as we set off for Shimogakure. He had been talking to me for a few hours none stop about his life, while I wasn't exactly antisocial I was a bit out of practice. Also Ida was a bit of a chatter box so I wasn't able to get much of a word in.

"How long have you been a ninja then? I can't imagine very long" He looked me over again.

"I started training a few years ago"

"And you are already able to move that fast, you must be a prodigy or something right?"

"I guess you could say that" I gave him a smile.

Ida stared to ask me all questions about ninja training when I detected several chakra signatures moving towards us. Luckily they weren't moving very fast and they weren't very strong either.

"Hold on" I stop in front of the carriage.

"Hmmm what's wrong?" Ida looked nervous.

I pointed in the direction of the people coming towards us "There are people coming towards us from the north they will be here in three to four minutes"

Ida started to look around in the direction nervously "Oh no what do we do?"

"Just stay with the carriage and I will sort it out"

Ida nodded towards me as he moved.

I walked in front of the carts, I drew my sword and sat down, crossing my legs and placing my sword in my lap. I waited for the thieves to arrive and surely as I said they arrived appearing out of the forest.

The leader appeared first and was the only one with a strength above civilian. 'How worthless, I could have taken this mission years ago and not broken a sweat' They really were a bunch of worthless Idiots.

"Hahahaha look at this boys, a full carriage with only one lowly kid as a guard. Ohhhh that's a pretty nice sword you have there, it'll fetch a nice price or maybe I'll keep it for myself" He was laughing to himself. All I could think was how he looked like a typical villain.

"Leave" I said firmly stabbing my sword in to the ground beside me.

"humph looks like this kid doesn't know what he is up against. LET'S SHOW HIM BOYS!!" He shouted and all his men shouted 'YEAH!!' they are rushed towards me, some with weapons others with just their fists.

Either way, they were weaklings.

I used flash step and in the space of a second I had appeared in front of everyone of them, slamming my elbows and knee's in to their arms and chests before moving on to the next thief and doing the same.

I then sat back down in my original position. To the thieves it didn't look like I had moved at all, yet all of them had been blown back, some more injured than other's but none came out without injuries.

Hayashida looked around at his men who had all fallen down "Wh.. what happened? How?"

"I will say it one more time, Leave now, or, You. Will. Die." I let out my killing intent with every word.

Hayashida was so terrified he was almost unable to move, but with very shaky legs he managed to move backwards to towards the forest.

"R.. R... RUN!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, all his men looked terrified, they ran as fast as they could. Honestly for my first proper fight in this world I was, disappointed. I was expecting something a lot more difficult, but I suppose that was the point of doing all that training before hand.

"Wow you really are good kid" Ida had come out.

"They were weak, it would take a skilled Chunin or above ninja to challenge me"

"That's good" He had a look on his face, relief. I wasn't sure why, but it didn't look right, I know I had just saved him but it was a face that was showing something else, something I couldn't understand.

"You ok?"

"hmmm, y... yes, I don't think they even noticed me"

"Hmmm, ok then let's get moving"

We set off again, Ida became his chatty self again. All and any suspicious behaviour had disappeared. I kept my sense up in case of another attack but for the rest of the day we had travelled without incident.

"I suppose we should set up camp for the night, we will arrive the day after tomorrow at midday" Ida had explained. I could go all night, but the horses and Ida required more rest than I did.

"Yes, please rest up I will stand guard"

"If your sure"

Due to my living outdoors my senses had developed to be very sharp in case of attack. Even when sleeping, any new unfamiliar chakra signature or killing intent and I would awake and be ready for battle.

Thankfully we didn't have any trouble that night or the day after either and we were able to set off early in the morning.

Ida however wasn't as chatty as he was when we started, we were finally going to arrive at our destination but Ida seemed more on edge than before.

"Is something the matter Ida?"

"Hmmm n..no nothing at all lad" He wasn't very convincing and I quickly discovered why. A massive Chakra signature appeared on my senses, a Jonin level ninja was headed towards us quickly.

"Stop! there is a powerful ninja headed towards us" I held out my hand stopping Ida in his tracks.

"Nooo, it couldn't be, he couldn't have found me" Ida looked terrified as he frantically began looking around.

'I knew he was hiding something' I glared at Ida "Who couldn't?"

"The.."

"That would be me" A loud and gruff voice sounded out.

I looked towards the location of the voice.
