6 Volume I: Beginning Chapter 6: Genin

During the two days' rest, I played with Shika for most of the time then I would go out to get information from the villagers and ninjas who are drunk and blabber on and on about their past missions.

On one of these information-gathering times, the rumours about Naruto started to surface, and I tagged everyone who said that with shadow rats that I animated after killing some of the rats in the streets. And just as I thought, I was able to extract the shadow of the dead, like the Shadow Monarch.

Now I have eyes and ears in every corner of the village, and by sending some directly to Danzo when I saw him coming out of the Hokage office, I was able to get to know about his nefarious plans against the other four villages, that I didn't mind as long as he didn't start another war. But the thing is, he's been ordering his subordinates to kidnap some of the clan children or straight up take them from their homes. After his failed attempt in getting me, his eyes are on Shika, and boy was he in for a rude awakening if he ever goes through with his plans on Shika.

The hottest topic in the village right now is not about the demon fox, but about a snake. That's right, Orochimaru have become a rogue ninja of Konoha. I'm pretty sure that the third couldn't finish his favourite student like that. Anyway thanks to that another person is suffering almost the same fate as Naruto, Anko, as she was in the genin team led by Orochimaru. Well, thanks to that the rumours about Naruto have died down, but if I'm correct Danzo will start to spread the rumours again after this one dies down.

Right now I'm on my way to the academy to join my genin team, I don't know who it's going to be but I just hope that they are not lazy like Kakashi, or energetic like Gai. 'Well, we will see in a minute.' Smiling at that thought I walked into the academy and when I reached the staff room I saw Itachi going out. Seeing me he stopped in his tracks and said "I'm in team 2 two of our seniors, and Yūki Minazuki as the Jonin instructor."

"Good for you then. So, after meeting the team wanna go and grab some Dango?"

"Sure." Saying that he went to where his teammates are waiting for him.

After he left I entered the staff room and seeing me the teacher called me "Bokuto come here."

When I reached him he gave me a document, so I started to read it and when I finished it I was confused so I asked him "Why is it like this?"

"You didn't know? The Jonin commander told us to do like this."

"Alright." Saying that I left the academy to search for my Jonin instructor, that's right, I don't have any team members, I'm in a single-man cell with a Jonin instructor.

'What is your plan uncle, I know you won't do this unless you have something in your mind.'

As I thought about all the reasoning I can come up with, to align with my uncle's instructed the teachers to appoint me in a single-man cell, I reached the training ground where I'm supposed to meet my Jonin instructor.

After a couple of minutes of waiting a man who had long ash blond hair reaching into his lower back, which he wore spiky on top and ending in a long ponytail, light green eyes and strong facial features, which included a well-defined jaw line arrived and spoke.

"It's good to see you Bokuto."

Sighing I looked at him and said "It's good to see you too, Inoichi-san."

"Now don't sigh like that. We are family friends and we know each other."

"I get that, but can you tell me why I am in a single-man cell?"

"Well, that's because your missions are not ordinary."

Hearing that I perked up and asked "What do you mean?"

"The missions you will be taking will be not D-Rank missions but C-Rank missions."

Hearing that I was surprised, so I asked him "Isn't that for some of the experienced genin and chunin?"

"Yes, it is. Shikaku has deemed you are up to par with an experienced genin, so he made me your instructor while I watch how you perform in the missions."

"Okay." 'So, he's helping me out so that I could become a Jonin faster, huh.'

"Good. Now your first mission is a long one."

"Alright, what is it about?"

"You are monitor on Naruto he's the same age as your brother."

'Well, shit. I have to watch over him? I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to hold back from attacking those who try to harm him.'

"Only monitor?"

"No. You have to be around him 24/7 and if there is any kind of threat to his life you have to act and stop the attackers, got that?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. Your mission will start from tomorrow onwards." Saying that he was about to leave, but he stopped and told me "For your information, this is a direct mission from the Third Hokage, so do well."

"Yes sir." Saying that he left the training ground leaving me there all alone. And I was thinking 'Why on earth is the Third making me watch over Naruto? Isn't there the Anbu around him every time?'

At the Hokage office, Shikaku was looking at Hiruzen who has been observing Bokuto through his crystal ball. After Inoichi left the training ground, Hiruzen looked at Shikaku and smiled.

Seeing this Shikaku sighed and said: "Hokage-sama, why are you assigning Bokuto to monitor Naruto?"

Still smiling Hiruzen said "You know very well why Shikaku. After all Bokuto is his, son, Bokuto won't be acting how the rest of the villagers do after hearing about the rumours around him. And I'm sure that you have brought him up saying 'Do what you like to do, but always know about everything before you act.', right?"

"Yes." Sighing he answered.

"That's the reason. From now on Bokuto will be looking after Naruto, and don't worry, he will be relieved of his duty in the morning by an Anbu. He will watch over Naruto in the evening and night time. You can inform him that, I'm sure that Inoichi had told him it will be 24/7 to mess with him." Informed Shikaku.

"Yes, Hokage-sama. Then I'll take my leave."

"Sure."
