Volume I: Beginning Chapter 2: Academy

'I'll do as I like when the time comes. That's the best way to move forward in this life. Not that we decided, it's time for me to go to the academy.'

After thinking about it, I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and changed my clothes and went to the dining room to eat breakfast. 

Reaching there I was met with aunt Yoshino, wife of uncle Shikaku and mother of Shikamaru. Seeing me she said "So you woke up early, huh. Now come on, it's time to eat breakfast."

Saying that she dragged me to the dining table and made me sit on the chair and gave me food. As I took the chopsticks I said "Itadakimasu" and started to eat the food. Aunt just sat opposite me and watched as I wolfed down the breakfast and said with a smile "Slow down, the food won't run away."

I just smiled at her and continued to eat it. After finishing breakfast I went to wash the dishes and asked my aunt "Is Shika still sleeping?"

"Yes, he is. He's just like his father even as a baby. Lazy as it comes."

"Well, it runs in the family," I said. 

"But I don't see that with you all the time."

"Must be from dad's side." I said that with a smile. 

Looking at me she sighed and said "Your uncle will tell you when you become a Jonin. So until then, hold on there okay." She said that while poking my left chest. 

I just nodded at her and said "See you in the evening aunt I'm going." 

"Alright. But make sure to make some friends okay." She said that while kissing me on the forehead. 

"I will try."

"Good, that's enough for me. Now run along." She said to me, 

After that, I walked to the academy from home. On the way, I enjoyed the scenery of the village. Part of it is still under construction after the Kyuubi attack. It's been a month since the attack, but some places are still in shambles. And from what I can remember, the Uchiha clan has been moved from their usual area to another one. 

As I was walking I saw Hana Inuzuka with her three ninja dogs. When she saw me she just looked at me with curiosity, then started to walk to the academy. I only know her from the show and manga, thanks to the training I've been doing at home since I was just four years old after my uncle said that he will tell me who my father is if I became a Jonin. So aiming for that I've not interacted with the kids of my age in the village at all. Even before that, I was not known outside of the clan other than the current clan heads of the Akimichi and Yamanaka clans.

After a couple of minutes of walking, I reached the academy. Reaching there I stood with the other kids in a line and waited for the speech of the Third Hokage. After a couple of minutes he arrived with some teachers from the academy, standing on the podium he started to speak about the will of fire in every citizen. 

And then the admission started with the teachers asking the following to the kids, 

1. Love the village and hope to help preserve peace and prosperity.

2. Have a mind that will not yield, able to endure hard training and work.

3. Be healthy in mind and body.

If the above conditions are met, admission to the Academy will be granted.

Because I was from the Nara clan, they admitted me to the academy and told me where my class was, so I went to the class and entered it.

Looking around the class I saw children who are related to the clan heads of the Uchiha, Hyuga, Akimichi, Yamanaka and Inuzuka. 

From Uchiha it was Itachi and Izumi, from Inuzuka it was Hana. I only saw this guy's from the anime, and the rest of them, I don't know, neither from the Anime nor from meeting them in this life.

Finding myself a seat at the back where there was no one present I sat down there. Some of the kids looked at me with curiosity as they haven't seen me anywhere before, even in the park where kids usually play around. Not minding them I laid my head on the desk and started to take a nap. Even though the Nara trait is less in me, I'm lazy as they are. Seeing me taking a nap in the class that too on the first day made the kids murmur about it. 

A couple of minutes later the class teacher came and introduced himself and told everyone to introduce themselves. As this was going on I was still in my sleep. As the introduction part reached me the teacher looked at the attendance sheet and called out my name "Bokuto! Stand up and introduce yourself."

Hearing my name being called out I opened my eyes and saw that everyone was looking at me so I sighed and stood up and asked the teacher "What am I supposed to do?"

"Introduce yourself, and state what your dream is."

"Alright." Pausing a bit I continued "My name is Bokuto Nara. I don't have that much of a dream other than becoming a Jonin as fast as possible. That's it."

Hearing my name the kids started to murmur about how I don't look like a Nara at all and my dream is just lame and all. But not minding them I just sat down as the introduction of the other kids continued. 

As that was going on I sensed someone staring at me so I looked around and found that Itachi was looking at me. Looking back at him I just smiled and nodded at him, and he turned around to face the front.
