Chapter 40: Ready? Set? Go!

When Shin found the traveling merchant, he waited until everyone was asleep before sneaking in and using his sharingan to get the location of the vein. He had planned to coerce and threaten where needed, that was why he didn't get the ferret killed but now with the powers of the sharingan, getting information was as simple as a look.

The location was in the land of rivers and Shin found it easy enough, he observed the great stone structure that housed the vein and found some strange formations, 'There are probably some defense mechanisms, better not risk it.' Shin used a chi technique, "Earth escape technique" to merge with the earth to travel through the barriers and emerge on the inside.

Shin stood on the platform and scrutinized the flowing energy, gathering a bit for analysis.

'Not yet, I Still need to safely absorb the whole thing.'

Assal could absorb and utilize any energy that Shin possessed, that meant as long as Shin could successfully absorb all the energy in this vein, he could use it to power Assal and even use the conversion feature to change the nature of the energy to chakra or chi or even create physical matter.

Shin had Pineapple spit out the piece of stone she had and started to create a custom version of the 4 seasons seal that used the piece of stone as the gateway, allowing the volatile energy to safely enter the seal that would then permanently store it inside his body.

After writing the complicated set of runes that included typical japanese seals and english words and sentences to make sure that the seal works perfectly as it was not designed to store this type of energy.

After completing the seal, he started to concentrate as massive amounts of energy started to flood inside him, energy that was enough to blow up half the continent and could easily rival that of a tailed beast. The seal was designed to simply contain the energy without any leaks or exchanges. Shin used chi to make sure his body could sustain the high amount of inflow of energy and after about half an hour the cavern darkened as every bit of the strange energy that it had housed for countless years, died up completly.

Shin laid down on the ground, breathing heavily, "That took longer than I thought, guess the inflow speed was set too slow…" Pineapple came up to him and licked his cheek. "I'm ok, agh." Shin groaned as he got up, 'Any issues Assal?'

[None.]

'Start running the simulations, use the genetic registry to check if any positive mutations can be forced using this energy and use it as fuel, I don't want my chakra getting drained.'

"Sorry Pineapple." Shin apologized to the startled cat as he sighed in exasperation while rubbing his forehead. He had thought the system was finally showing its worth but such a long time was simply unbearable. Shin paid for a second, it was quite possible that Assal simply misunderstood or there was some miscommunication. 'Why would it take so long?.'

"Agh! Sorry Pineapple" Shin groaned as he sat back down, tears streaming down his eyes at the unfairness but he was not willing to give up after coming so far.

After a long and tedious back and forth Shin was finally able to bring the time down to a nice little [280,000 years] which was a big win in his mind. Shin dragged his feet back to the village and fell asleep as soon as he hit the bed. He was tired from all the fighting, sealing and disappointment he had been through and just wanted some rest.

The next few months were uneventful as Shin went through the routine of training, managing business, researching new seals, meditating and teaching Naruto and Sasuke whenever he had time. Due to Shin's occasional training, both boys took the top position in class and had become closer to friends than classmates. Both were orphans with no family so once Shin brought them together, they stuck to each other, propelling each other to greater heights.

Naturally, there had been many voices of "Concern" as Shin didn't have the best of reputations and being so close to the last survivor of the Uchiha and the jinchuriki rose many eyebrows, unluckily for them, Shin was quite content with ignoring any "advices" or "orders" that the village elders or seniors gave him. Shin's reputation and constant conflict with the other nations had earned him a reputation as the "Black Cat Of Konoha" with a 10 million bounty from Kumo and 5 million from Kiri. The only reason Iwa didn't put a bounty on him was because he hadn't killed anyone from there that wasn't a spy and Sand would not risk it due to their relationship with Konoha.

Shin had even paid a visit to his Panda Masters, since he had already been there once, going back and forth was getting easier and easier. Due to his training in that world, his strength had seen a massive increase the past year because there was a difference of time flow between the two worlds; 3 months in the Naruto world was equal to 6 months in the Panda world.

Shin was already known as one of the strongest ninjas in the village but he was not given any promotions due to him still paying for the damages he had caused. Shin didn't care about becoming a Jonin but what he did care about was gaining more power and looking at his stats, his thoughts were simple, 'I should probably start hunting the tailed beasts… But where to start?'

Shin was in a conundrum, he didn't want to start from the 1-tail because Gara already had it even though it was probably the easiest target. 'Perhaps I should just start from the 1-tail, it's not like there are many in this world that could cause me trouble anyways.'

Shin wasn't being arrogant, he was simply speaking with stats; just his Chi could rival a tailed beast and Chi was much stronger than chakra. Using his Chi to augment his Lightning style kenjutsu made the lightning far more deadlier and him fast enough to mimic the Lightning clock of the raikage, something he learned from the panda Lei.

'What to do, so many choices, so little time. Definitely not one of the higher tails yet… maybe I should pay Kiri a visit after all…'

"I find the best way to decide on something is to start doing it." a wise sagely voice came from behind him. Shin opened his eyes, and a breathtaking view of the Panda Valley came into view.

Shin didn't turn around, instead he remained seated just as he was as he spoke, "I thought we are supposed to measure our actions before we take them?" The old panda behind him chuckled, "We are indeed, measure our actions, our words, our gestures…" The panda came up to Shin and sat next to him before continuing, "...But the greatest things done in life are not done through measurement and logic but through the actions taken by the heart."

Shin nodded, taking in a deep breath and looking at the view before him. This view always calmed him down so whenever he was feeling tense, Shin would come here to meditate and calm down.

After exchanging a few words, Shin went back to his world to begin his journey. He only needed to get one to ensure Kaguya didn't get free. The only threats he would then have are Obito, Orochimaru and Pain in the same level of importance. Shin traveled to the surface from his lair deep underground and appeared inside his new house that Ibuki had arranged for him.

Shin found Pineapple laying on the ground, watching the fishes on the TV, her tail swishing back and forth. Shin smiled and grabbed her, "Come on, time to hunt a sand demon."
