231-Training For Side-effects

'How is that even possible?' he thought, his brow furrowed in concentration.

'Is this some kind of Kekkei Genkai? But do summons even have Kekkei Genkai?'

In the distance, Tenjin soared through the sky, leaving trails of lightning crackling behind him. The sky above shimmered with flashes of blue and white, illuminating the eagle's wings as he glided through the wind.

As Renjiro watched in awe, he couldn't help but question the power he had just witnessed. Never before had he seen such an ability, not even in the countless hours he'd spent immersed in the lore of ninjas and their abilities.

A gust of wind howled as Tenjin descended, his wings beating with such force that they stirred the air around them. The powerful eagle landed gracefully, talons digging into the rocky ground, lightning still crackling around his massive body. Renjiro couldn't hold back his curiosity any longer.

"Tenjin, what was that?" Renjiro asked, stepping forward, his voice filled with both awe and confusion. "I've never seen anything like it. You just manipulated lightning and wind together—how did you do that?"

Tenjin ruffled his feathers, his piercing eyes reflecting the crackle of energy still lingering in the air. The ancient eagle's voice boomed like thunder, deep and resonant, as he responded.

"That, Renjiro, is Thunder Release—a rare Kekkei Genkai that combines lightning and wind chakra. It's a technique that very few can master."

Renjiro blinked, his mouth slightly agape. 'Thunder Release?' His thoughts swirled as he tried to piece together what this could mean.

'There was never any mention of this Kekkei Genkai in the anime...' he mused silently. But if this was possible for a summoned creature, then maybe there were other hidden powers yet to be uncovered.

Renjiro's mind immediately leapt to strategies. 'If I combine fire with it when I summon Uno, the attacks would be devastating!' He looked back at Tenjin, his eyes alight with the idea.

"Is this natural for all the eagles in your clan?" Renjiro asked, his tone eager, hoping that the answer might reveal a new edge for him in battle.

Tenjin let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. "No, Renjiro," he replied, his voice calm but firm.

"This is not something that comes naturally to all of us. What you saw was the result of my hard work. I spent years mastering both my chakra nature affinities—lightning and wind—and combining them into Thunder Release. It was no easy feat."

Renjiro raised an eyebrow, 'That's a bold statement,' he mused.

'I guess he never met Hashirama. The man had insane chakra control—enough that if he had a Tailed Beast, the beast would probably end up as his Jinchuriki instead.'

Still, Renjiro couldn't deny that Tenjin's mastery was something to be reckoned with. His heart pounded with the realization that this might be an opportunity to learn something profound apart from chakra control, he could learn how to make his own Kekkei Genkai. But first was Chakra control.

Even if he didn't see many issues with his own chakra control, there was always room for improvement.

Renjiro straightened his posture and faced Tenjin, his expression serious. "What exactly are we going to learn about chakra control?" he asked. His voice was steady, but the weight of the question hung in the air.

He wasn't arrogant enough to dismiss a lesson, especially one coming from a creature as powerful as Tenjin. He had learned long ago that there was always more to learn, even in areas where he thought he excelled.

Tenjin regarded him for a moment, his large golden eyes reflecting the sky above. "You have to unlearn and relearn everything you think you know," he said simply, his tone both grave and resolute.

Renjiro blinked in surprise. "Unlearn everything?" he repeated, his voice incredulous. "How is that even possible?"

A soft wind blew between them, carrying the scent of rain and distant thunder. Tenjin's feathers rustled as he stood still, his eyes never leaving Renjiro's. "We are going to meditate," the eagle finally said, his voice softer but filled with authority.

"Your current control is… lacking, but if you truly wish to harness lightning chakra or even other chakra natures, you need to start over. You'll need to feel the flow of chakra in a way you never have before."

Renjiro stared at him, his mind struggling to comprehend how sitting still and meditating could lead to the kind of chakra control Tenjin was speaking of. He had been meditating for years and if his chakra control magically got better by that, he would need the help after all.

But at the same time, Renjiro knew better than to dismiss such a method outright. If Tenjin believed it was necessary, then there had to be truth in it.

"Alright," Renjiro said, nodding slowly. "Let's do this. What do I need to do?"

"Get on my back," Tenjin instructed, "We're heading up the Floating Mountain. It's the perfect place for you to begin this journey."

Renjiro paused, hesitating just as his foot was about to leave the ground.

The last time he had gone up the mountain, it hadn't gone well—actually, it had been a disaster.

"Tenjin, last time I did that," Renjiro said, his voice tight as the memory surfaced. "It wasn't exactly... good."

Tenjin's gaze remained steady, unreadable, as if he had already anticipated Renjiro's reluctance."I know," the eagle said. "That's exactly the point."

Renjiro's brow furrowed, "What do you mean?"

"You're not going to the peak this time," Tenjin explained, his voice calm and even. "The Natural Energy up there would still be too much for you to handle, especially with Kurama's chakra now coursing through you. But we're not aiming for the peak. Instead, you'll meditate on one of the lower levels, where the energy is more manageable."

Renjiro felt the tension in his shoulders relax slightly, but not entirely. "And that's supposed to help me how?" he asked, folding his arms across his chest.

"Your body's natural regeneration is key here. With Kurama's chakra enhancing your healing abilities, your body can adapt to the Natural Energy over time. That's something most people don't have. While you won't be able to manipulate the Natural Energy, your body will still respond to it. It will force your chakra control to improve as a side effect because your system will be constantly adjusting to the energy around it."

Renjiro blinked 'Adapt to Natural Energy?'

It made sense, in a strange, roundabout way. If his body could heal from the damage caused by exposure to raw Natural Energy, then perhaps it could learn to handle it better with each exposure.

"So you're saying my healing ability will allow me to withstand the Natural Energy," Renjiro mused, thinking aloud. "And that'll improve my chakra control in the process?"

"Precisely," Tenjin affirmed with a slow nod. "As you're exposed to increasing levels of Natural Energy, your chakra will adapt to flow more precisely."

'So I will get Senjutsu training without actually using Senjutsu?' It was a strange loophole, but one that Renjiro was more than willing to exploit.

"But don't think it'll be easy. The energy at any level on that mountain will still challenge you. Even though it won't be the purest form of Natural Energy, your body will react. The regeneration you rely on will be taxed heavily."

Renjiro smirked, feeling the familiar surge of resolve that always came before a tough challenge. "When have I ever taken the easy path?" he muttered, more to himself than to Tenjin.

With a deep breath, Renjiro climbed onto Tenjin's back.
