Why does it seem like this system is against me…

Chapter 2

"The system has been activated," a voice resonated within Madara's mind. However, he maintained a composed expression on his face, showing no hint of surprise. He had always been calm and collected, even in the face of the miraculous events that had brought him to this world.

Closing his eyes, Madara attempted to establish a telepathic connection with the voice. "Who are you, and why can you speak to me in this manner?" he inquired, his curiosity piqued.

"Please open the system interface to view its contents," the robotic voice responded, devoid of respect and evading his questions.

"System, open," Madara commanded.

As he opened his eyes, an exclamation escaped Madara's lips. Despite his vast knowledge of forbidden jutsus and seeing all that was left to offer, he had never encountered something as peculiar as this.

A blue interface floated before Madara's eyes, but when he tried to touch it, his hands passed through it as if it were incorporeal. After a few attempts, he shifted his focus to the contents displayed on the interface.

{ Host - Madara Uchiha

Realm - mortal

Current points: 0

Host can acquire points through missions, killing enemies, and various other ventures. }

"Fascinating. So I can obtain points simply by killing?" Madara smirked. Killing was second nature to him, an art he had perfected. This system was a perfect fit for him, a godsend.

"System, what can I purchase with points?" he inquired.

{ Points can be exchanged for cultivation resources, items, and weapons. }

"System, who created you? Who is your master?" Madara asked, his demeanor domineering, seeking answers about this enigmatic "system."

{ You are not qualified to know. }

Madara's expression soured. "Hmph! A mere tool created by someone dares to withhold answers," he muttered under his breath.

Pushing aside his frustrations, Madara scrolled down the system interface to the missions section, hoping to quickly accumulate points and make use of them.

{ Missions:

- Kill the Jade Emperor, Lu Zhou - Mission pass rate: 000000.1%

- Ransack the treasure vault of the Heavenly Court - Mission pass rate: 0000.1%

- Create your own sect and become the overlord of a continent - Mission pass rate: 0000.1%

- Etc., etc. }

Madara read through rows upon rows of missions, growing increasingly annoyed. All these missions seemed impossible to complete. Not only did he lack knowledge of names and locations, but the pass rates were below 1%. Was this system scamming him?

Refusing to accept this outcome, Madara scrolled down until he stumbled upon a message.

{ The system advises the host to commit suicide. Please press accept if you would like to die. Don't worry; it will be painless and quick. You won't even realize it! }

Madara's anger flared, and he instantly punched the system interface. Of course, the interface didn't budge. Frustrated, he turned around and delivered a series of kicks to one of the thugs' stomachs in order to take out his anger before regaining his composure.

Thug: "…"

Madara then found a quiet corner of the street and sat down on a bench, intending to further analyze the system. Ignoring the persistent "commit suicide" message, he delved into the power systems of this new world, wanting to understand what he was up against.

The body he now inhabited was battered and bruised, clearly belonging to a bottom-feeder. But since the heavens had granted him a second chance at life, he refused to sit idly and await death. Browsing further, he discovered a section that listed the power structure of this world.

{ Secrets of this world - Power structure:

- Qi Formation: Low, mid, peak.

- Foundation Establishment: Low, mid, peak.

- Core Formation: Low, mid, peak.

- ****** (You will need points to explore higher realms.) }

"Heh, points again, huh? It appears that this world is governed by these power systems. I must grasp their laws. Waiting for death is the coward's way out. Let's see what this world has to offer," Madara mused.

Continuing his exploration, Madara came across the shop section. It presented a myriad of items and weapons, ranging from cultivation pills and miscellaneous items to weapons and armor. All of them were categorized from mortal grade to heaven grade.

At the bottom of the shop, Madara noticed a notification, urging him to click it. With curiosity piqued, he obliged and was greeted by a surprise—a gift box. Opening it left him stunned.

"Here I thought It would give me one of the items available in the shop, but it's just a kunai," Madara remarked.

He grasped the kunai and placed it in one of his trouser pockets. The gift box also contained a message from the system.

{ Welcome to the world of cultivation. In order to welcome you, I have prepared a memento of the past. Please use this kunai well in your endeavors! Also, a side note: the suicide button is there! Just let me know when you want to press acce-}

Without reading further, Madara closed the system. It became evident that this enigmatic system had ulterior motives. Relying on it at this point would be foolish.

"Who cares?" Madara thought. He had always relied on himself, as depending on others had never benefited him. On the contrary, he had faced betrayal and setbacks numerous times.

With this in mind, Madara rose slowly from his seat, contemplating his next steps.

"This body requires sustenance. I can feel my energy deteriorating; it won't last another two days. I must gather more information about this place. Although this town is remote, if I encounter what they call 'cultivators,' I'll be dead within seconds. Additionally, I have no memory of where I reside. Let me inquire around to find out where the previous owner of this body lived," Madara decided.

Walking through the town and questioning the locals in the slums, Madara eventually found the small bamboo shed that served as his temporary dwelling. The interior was dirty, with only a stone bed visible in the corner.

As he looked around, something caught his eye. Intrigued, Madara picked up the item.

"A necklace, huh? The emerald green stone attached to it seems interesting," he remarked.

Without much thought, he placed the necklace in his pocket, intending to analyze it later when he escaped his current predicament.

However, at that moment, the sound of footsteps reached his ears from outside the shed.

"Judging by the footsteps, there are roughly sixteen of them. Interesting. It would be impolite of me not to welcome my guests," Madara grinned.

BOOM!

The shed's door shattered as the sixteen thugs burst in.

Madara stood there, his grin unwavering, unfazed by the sudden intrusion.
