Chapter 66: Why are Leaf Shinobi attacking them?

"Ken, Your plan is fabulous but how do we find who is the lead researcher?" Itachi asked expecting the answer but all he saw was Ken looking at him weirdly.

'Oh right, he must have not thought about that part yet.' Itachi mentally facepalmed

Ken though with pure shameless said, "That is for you and Kabuto to think upon."

"I will take care of it," Itachi said as he carefully observed the company while Kabuto and Ken observed him from afar.

Some hours later, Itachi followed a person whom he identified as an important member of the company as the shinobi guards greeted him with some respect which was rare to be seen from shinobi for civilians. Itachi decided to interrogate him.

Itachi followed him and used his Sharingan to extract the information by putting the guy inside a genjutsu while at the same time making sure the guy did not remember this encounter and only thought of it as a dream.

Itachi then walked back to Kabuto and Ken with a wide grin on his face.

Both of them were surprised by this expression on Itachi.

"What did the guy tell you that made you so happy?" Ken asked

"Nothing much just that he was the lead research scientist and oh he also graciously gave me the formula for the fertilizer," Itachi told them with a smile.

"You are not lying right?"

"You must be joking surely? You can't be that lucky!"

Itachi pulled out a scroll and opened it before flashing it to their faces.

"It's really the formula...."

"It looks like I am the MVP of the mission. I single-handedly completed it, Ken. You should learn a thing or two from me." Itachi said smugly

'He is really Sasuke's brother. Despite his serious attitude, he fights with me as Sasuke fought with Naruto, of course before going rogue. Well, I am glad he opened up to me. He is truly a nice guy just burdened by a lot of things. A clan that wants a civil war against his village, a father who expects a lot from him, his loyalty to the village, danzo's schemes and Obito's schemes. He was going to be caught in all of these messes if not for me present in this world.'

'Things I have to do for a friend.' Ken mentally gave himself a thumbs up for being such a good and reliable friend.

"While it is good that we managed to get the formula without much trouble but I so wanted to have some kind of fight in this mission. You just made the mission boring, Itachi." Ken accused Itachi while Kabuto did not say anything, he felt the same as Ken since he had done a lot of training in the past month and wanted to show his progress to his teammates as well as also use his skills in battle.

"Now that you say it, The mission just got completed without fighting. But is not that good? We should all strive for peaceful missions." Itachi said

Ken ignored Itachi's words and asked Kabuto "Should we not report this to Shikuro sensei and just storm the place to get some battle experience?"

Before Kabuto could reply, Shikuro appeared with a swish and smacked him on his head, he glared at Ken and asked "What are you not going to report to me?"

"Nothing Nothing" Ken shaked his head while rubbing his head in pain.

"You should be glad that you don't have to fight. Shinobi..." Before he could continue Ken said irritated "Yeah yea I know, Shinobi die in real battles. A shinobi can fight dirty, we can be outnumbered and all that jazz, Grandpa has said that to me hundreds of times but if we don't fight now when we have you near us for protection, we would not be able to fight alone in the future. How else are we supposed to get battle experience? If we wanted to do such menial tasks we could have just done the D-rank missions instead of traveling for so long and returning without even battling a single Genin!"

Shirkuro was about to retort but was again interrupted not by Ken but by an explosion in the distance.

"That is the direction of the company," Kabuto said

Shikuro sighed as he looked at Ken "Be careful of what you wish for in the future, Kid."

Though the said person was smiling hoping for a battle. Shikuro looked at all of his students thinking what should the next course of action should be.

"I can sense the chakra of three jonins. Not elite jonins but still jonins from one of the 5 great villages along with 9 chunins. Normally, We would have retreated since we had already completed our mission but my insects tell me something fishy is going on. So we are going to observe and see what is happening. You are not going to interfere in their battle until I say so. Understood Ken?" Shikuro said with a look that said 'Nod or I will have my insects feed on you' and so Ken followed what his instincts told him to do.

They arrived at the battlefield and were baffled at what they saw.

"Why are....leaf shinobi attacking them? Was it not our mission to just take the formula without fighting?" Kabuto asked confused seeing the situation.
