Chapter 49: Lightning Affinity Revealed

Ken, Itachi and Kabuto met their sensei again in the morning on the next day in the same training ground.

"I have talked with Lord Hokage and he has agreed to give you guys C-rank missions directly. He would take care of all the legal and other shinobi procedures. But he had put down a condition that you have to train under me for the next 2 weeks before you take your first mission. I was going to train you guys for a week or so anyways so I accepted his request." Shikuro told his students who did not mind training as it was way better than doing chores.

'Seems the old man knew what was the best thing to do. I did not even need to convince him.' Ken thought happily.

Hiruzen though, did not want Ken to 'convince' him as Ken's convincing was more like blackmailing and threatening him.

Hiruzen knew that if he did not agree with Ken's request then Ken would threaten him by saying that he would burn his office or his precious garden. He could also threaten him by saying that he would never talk to him if he did not agree with his request which was unacceptable to Hiruzen.

This did not mean that he would accept all of Ken's illogical requests. In this case, he knew that Shikuro's team was more than ready to take C-rank missions and as the Hokage, it is his duty to give proper missions to the genin teams according to their strengths for their proper growth.

But as a grandpa who knew that anything could go wrong in a mission and the C-rank mission could turn into a B-rank or even into an A-rank mission, he was worried for the safety of his grandson. He did not want to lose him just like he lost his wife.

But he knew that the dangers were a part of shinobi life and for Ken to become one of the best out there, he would have to survive these challenges.

"Alright so before I decide your training schedule, you should do some physical exercises. 50 laps around this training ground, 150 push-ups and 200 squats." Shikuru said as Itachi and Ken took off already used to this much training.

They also knew from experience with their previous teachers that if they tried to negotiate about the amount of training, it was most likely that Shikuro would increase it.

Kabuto though was shocked to hear that they had to do so much physical exercise as he had never done so much exercise due to lacking a proper teacher but he was even more shocked to see Ken and Itachi do it without complaining.

He had no choice but to follow in their footsteps without complaining like the good and obedient boy he was.

After they were done with the exercises and after Shikuro gave each of them some time to rest, Shikuro addressed each of them.

"I am hoping that you all can do tree walking and water walking?" Shikuro asked

Although newly graduated genins were not expected to have this level of chakra control, these three were exceptions since they could use ninjutsu flawlessly and use medical ninjutsu in the case of Kabuto which required a high degree of chakra control.

The three of them nodded as Shikuro then said "Good, Since we are going on a C-rank mission directly, you might come in contact with enemy shinobi and it is necessary for you all to have some defensive jutsu. Before, I continue let's check out Kabuto's affinity since he does not know about it yet."

"Here is a chakra affinity paper. It would help you determine your affinity. The paper will catch on fire and turn into ash if your affinity is fire. The paper will split in half if it's wind and if it's lightning, the paper will wrinkle. The paper will turn to dirt and crumble away if it's earth and the paper will be damp/wet if your affinity is water. You can have more than one affinity." Shikuro said

"I have three of these so you all can have them and confirm your affinities." He handed them a chakra paper to each of them.

'Now that I think about it, I never used a chakra paper. Grandpa deduced that with my kekkei gengais my affinities are Earth, Water, Fire and Wind." Ken thought

Itachi went first as his affinities were revealed to be Fire and water.

Kabuto went next as one-third of the chakra paper was cut in half, another went wet and the last one crumbled away.

"Earth, Water and Wind. Is not that a surprise now? Having three natural affinities is pretty rare." Shikuro said to Kabuto.

Hearing this, Kabuto was pretty happy as he now too would be able to contribute to the team and would not need to take a backseat like in their fight with Shikuro.

[A/N: I did not make up their affinities. Since it was either stated in anime or the databooks about their affinities. Kabuto also has the Yin-Yang affinity. He is pretty good with genjutsu and medical ninjutsu. Itachi too has the yin release. Sharingan and all is all about yin release.]

Ken did not know about Kabuto's affinity from his memories so he was pretty surprised but happy that his team member might become a powerhouse without combining his body with Orochimaru's cells and the fu*ck shit he did to his body in the anime.

Next was Ken's turn, He was not pretty excited about it since he already knew his affinities.

But as the paper was divided into five halves, his expression turned from shock to excitement to happiness.

He had an affinity with LIGHTNING RELEASE along with the other four chakra nature affinities. While it was debatable whether it was the strongest nature, it was definitely the coolest one.

And which boy does not like cool stuff?
