The First Mission

"ffffooouuuuhhhh!!!! There's nothing better that meditation to relieve one of the fatigues accumulated from training... I'm thankful that in this world, I can recovered from fatigue without sleeping. Using this method, I can fully use a day properly without wasting even an hour... If It was back on old Earth, I would be dead... As it's been more than 8 months, since I last slept on my futon. "

Ichinaru said as he got up from his lotus position and stretched his body. He then performed the hand seal for the shadow clone jutsu.

"Shadow clone jutsu!! Start now..."

At his words, the four clones appeared and started to form pairs of two. The first pair started to train in shape transformation by trying to form each their own rasengan without using additional help. Then, the other two clones were covering their left hand with chakra and slowly tried to change the chakra's nature. Ichinaru stared at them for a few seconds before moving to his cupboard. He removed some clothings and a towel from the cupboard and went out of the room.

About 45 minutes later

6:45 a.m

Ichinaru stood in front of the Academy which was found at the base of the Hokage Rock. The Academy was quite large and is comprised of several buildings which were erected over time. The building could easily be identified by the giant sign with the kanji for "fire" on it.

He stared at the sculptures of the faces of the Hokages on the Hokage Rock, that were overlooking at the the village and slowly got lost in his thoughts.

'Those men, even their scuptures emit an oppressive aura... It's not a surprise that they have been dubbed the strongest kages of their respective generations...

The first Hokage, Senju Hashirama was a jack of all trade with immense reserve of chakra and super strong ninjutsu... The second Hokage, Senju Tobirama

was second only to his brother in power but his strongest asset according to me, was his ability to develop ninjutsu and his vast knowledge... As for the current Hokage and third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen is very impressive to be the leader of Konoha for more than four decades with flinching and also mastering all the ninjutsu of the village...

No words, other than impressive can describe him, but something has been on my mind for quite some time... Is it possible that the third Hokage already mastered the second Hokage's Thunder God technique who was his master and team leader?... Then, there is the fourth Hokage, the one that reign for the shortest time in the history of Konoha after Danzou in the future. The Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato was very impressive with his mastery of sealing jutsu and the thunder God technique. Still even back on Earth, I couldn't shake that feeling that he gave up his life to easily...

Maybe, I'm wrong but that the feeling I always got from his legacy as a Kage. Anyway, I have been contemplating the idea of one day having my face carved on the Hokage Rock too, alongside those monsters... It will not be that bad of an idea after all, I'm already trying to screw up the destined future of this world by trying to survive... So becoming the Hokage in about two or more decades isn't a bad idea... Uchiha Ichinaru, the first Uchiha Hokage that's not bad...

I should think some more about it, if I surviv-No, I should survive. I can die a second time with giving it my all... I must become stronge-'

"Yo! Ichinaru, are fine? "

Tsurugi said as he placed his left arm over Ichinaru's neck and brought the latter out of his thoughtful state.

"Morning, Tsurugi... How are you?"

"I'm fine, What about you?"

"Hmmmm.... What do you mean by that?"

Ichinaru got out of Tsurugi's embrace and moved to the front to face him with a perplexed expression on his face.

"Chill Ichinaru... It's just that I got a weird vibe coming from you as I approached you... Is something wrong?"

"No.. Don't worry about me, I was thinking about something that's all. let's focus on our mission for today, also Reiji is already here."

Tsurugi didn't keep on questioning Ichinaru as he noticed that he didn't want to answer him. He simply turned into the direction that Ichinaru was looking at and saw Reiji that was waving at them. While Ichinaru stared at her without moving by an inch, Tsurugi waved back at her.

" Hi boys! Are you ready for our first mission? Me, I'm so excited that I couldn't sleep the whole night... I'm wandering what kind of mission it will be."

"I'm fine... But are you sure that you will be fine after not getting some rest."

Tsurugi said while giving a worried gaze at Reiji.

"Don't worry about me, Tsurugi? You already know that I can't sleep, when I'm excited after all we have been in the same class for 9 years."

" Yeah, but now, it's not an assessment or a practical test anymore... This is a mission and it can be dan-"

"Calm down, Tsurugi! Worrying about such a thing is useless, after all we might find ourselves confronted with mission where we might not have any sleep at all for several hours straight... Plus, we are most likely to get a D-rank mission for our first one, and those mission are everything but dangerous.... So, chill.... Where's Fugaku-sensei anyway? It should already be almost 7 o'clock by now."

Ichinaru said as he greeted Reiji with a nod and she nodded back.

*puff*

Fugaku appeared in front of the three genin with smoke surrounding him.

"Good morning to all of you... Also it's nice that all of you are on time for your first mission... Keep this attitude up, punctuality is very important for a ninja, mainly when you have to carry out an important mission. As this can allow the team leader to do a little briefing about the mission, or any last minute changes. Never forget this guys, now let's go to meet the Hokage and take our assignment."

After navigating through the corridors of the Academy and climbing two staircases, Team 2 finally arrived in front of the Hokage's Office which was found in the administrative department of the Academy. The Hokage's Office was where all missions are dispatched and the day-to-day running of the village takes place.

*knock...knock...knock.*

"You may enter!!"

Fugaku followed the voice's command, opened the door and entered the office. The three genin followed behind their team leader and entered the office, they could stop themselves from observing each corner of the office.

'As expected from their first time inside the Hokage's Office, they are impressed.'

Fugaku thought as he gave them a side glance.

The Hokage's office was a large, somewhat oval room filled with stacks of paperwork. Behind the Third Hokage sat behind a desk and a large window could be seen behind which he use to survey the entire village. On the desk itself was written the kanji for shadow followed by the symbol of Konoha.

"Good morning, Fugaku! Good morning, kids!"

"Good morning, Lord Third!"

"Good morning, Lord Hokage!"

Three genin said in unison.

Sarutobi Hiruzen removed his smoking pipe in his mouth and exhaled some smokes before speaking to Fugaku.

"Since you came with your team, Fugaku... I can assume that you are here for a mission, right?"

"Yes! Lord Third, I'm here to collect my team's first mission and also to ask for a favour."

"To ask for a favour that very unlike you, anyway tell me what it is.."

"Thank you, Lord Third... I want you to assign a C-rank mission to my team, Sir."

"Normally almost all first missions are D-ranks one inside the village or on the outskirts of the village, but if you want a C-rank one... I assume that you have high expectations for them and so far, your judgements have never been wrong. I agree to your request and allow Team 2 to carry out a C-rank mission as their first one... Here is a C-rank mission that I just received yesterday, take it and be ready to depart with your team before noon."

"Yes! Lord Third! "
