4 Ch-04 Sunlight Reaction?

After congratulating Sakumo, Hiruzen remarked as Sakumo concluded his mission briefing, "Take some time to rest. You've been on a mission for a week, and you also have a son to take care of."

"Thank you, Hokage-Sama," Sakumo expressed his gratitude before leaving. Shortly thereafter, as Sakumo exited, Danzo entered the Hokage's office with a cautious demeanor.

Hiruzen inquired, "When will you overcome your habit of eavesdropping on conversations?"

"I need to stay informed about the happenings in Konoha, so I can assess both its benefits and potential threats," Danzo justified.

Hiruzen shook his head in mild exasperation.

"Hiruzen, what are your thoughts on Sakumo having a son?" Danzo inquired.

Hiruzen replied, "What thoughts? It's a positive development. Sakumo is quite content."

Danzo pressed on, "Consider this: with the birth of Sakumo's son, the Hatake clan gains an heir. This inevitably bolsters Sakumo's political influence. Furthermore, if the child inherits extraordinary talents, Sakumo's position would solidify even further."

Hiruzen fell silent, contemplative. Previously, Sakumo had been a promising candidate for the Hokage position. However, due to the absence of an heir, some ninjas and clan leaders hesitated to offer their unwavering support. Now, with the presence of an heir, the situation had changed. If the child possessed prodigious abilities akin to Sakumo and the Sannin, then Hiruzen's Hokage seat might be jeopardized.

Observing Hiruzen's introspection, Danzo seized the opportunity to further fuel his doubts. He suggested, "Why not subject Sakumo's son to a brain seal examination, just to ensure there are no hidden influences? It would be wise to be cautious."

"Why didn't you propose this directly to Sakumo?" Hiruzen questioned.

"Do not even entertain the thought of causing any harm to Sakumo's son. Despite the child's recent adoption, I could clearly discern the depth of affection he holds for the boy in his eyes. Any action against his son would result in catastrophic consequences. And do not assume for a moment that I am unaware of the reason behind Sakumo's wife's frailty," admonished Hiruzen.

Upon hearing this, Danzo's countenance shifted dramatically. "How did you come to know?" he inquired, surprise evident on his face.

"Remember, Danzo, I am the Hokage," Hiruzen calmly asserted, his focus still on his tasks. "I have important matters to attend to now, so kindly take your leave."

With a grim expression, Danzo exited the Hokage's office. It was unmistakable that today, a few members of the ROOT organization were destined to meet their demise.

When Sakumo arrived home, he discovered Kiyomi tending to Michikatsu, wrapping him in warm clothes. "Why are you doing this? Where is the maid?" he inquired.

"I asked her to fetch some clothes," Kiyomi replied, her lips curling into a smile.

Sakumo voiced his concern, "Did she react strongly when she saw Michi?"

"Don't you know her? Initially, she was taken aback, but she eventually warmed up to Michi," Kiyomi reassured.

Sakumo sighed in relief, "That's good to hear."

"Tomorrow, we're planning to take him to the hospital for a thorough checkup," Kiyomi informed him.

"Alright," Sakumo responded, pulling Kiyomi into a hug.

----

The following morning, Kiyomi, accompanied by her maid, cradled Michikatsu in her arms as she prepared to visit the doctor. "Today, my prince, we're going to meet the doctor. It's a clear day, unlike the past two days which lacked sunlight," she said.

"Let's go," Sakumo appeared at that moment, dressed in civilian attire.

"Of course," Kiyomi responded, and together with Sakumo and the maid, who was amusing Michikatsu with playful expressions, they headed outside. However, Michikatsu's expression remained unchanged, devoid of both smiles and sorrow.

As Kiyomi stepped beyond the shade of the house, Michikatsu's delicate skin came into contact with the sunlight. Instantly, his skin began to burn. Sakumo, with his acute perception, noticed this immediately and swiftly pulled Kiyomi and Michikatsu back into the shelter of the house. Michikatsu's cries pierced the air, marking the first time he had shed tears.

Alarmed by Michikatsu's agony, Kiyomi asked tearfully, her eyes filling with concern and distress, "What happened to Michi's hand?" The sight of Michikatsu's burned hand and his crying stirred her emotions deeply.

Sakumo paused, reflecting, before responding, "Sunlight. It appears to be a reaction to sunlight."

"But you were with him throughout the entire day yesterday, weren't you?" Kiyomi inquired.

"Yes, I was. However, the entire day was overcast, so Michi was shielded from direct sunlight," Sakumo explained.

"There's no time to discuss this now. I'll fetch a doctor immediately to treat Michi," Sakumo decided, about to move, but he was halted by the maid's voice. "Wait, Master Sakumo."

"Huh? What happened, Shi?" Sakumo inquired, his tone a mixture of confusion and anxiety.

"Take a closer look at the young master's skin. Doesn't it seem to be healing on its own?" Shi pointed out.

Upon closer examination, Sakumo indeed noticed that Michikatsu's skin was gradually healing, and the rate of recovery was rather swift.

Sakumo's expression turned serious, and he decisively stated, "Let's go inside the house immediately."

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Kiyomi swiftly followed Sakumo indoors.

Once inside, Sakumo performed a hand seal – a basic technique used by Anbu ninja for discreet communication. "I don't need to emphasize how powerful this ability is. If word gets out about Michikatsu's condition, he could be in grave danger," Sakumo warned with a stern expression.

Affirming her understanding, Kiyomi nodded and reassured, "Rest assured, husband. We won't disclose this matter to anyone."

Sakumo nodded in agreement and added, "I'll bring a medical ninja to our home. I'll explain that our son is allergic to sunlight."

"But, husband, if you do that, other Clan heads..." Kiyomi began to express her concern but was interrupted by Sakumo.

With conviction, Sakumo replied, "Nothing is more important to me than my son's well-being. Besides, having served in the Anbu, I am privy to certain knowledge that makes me even more cautious about the role of the Hokage."

Kiyomi simply nodded in understanding, and with that, Sakumo left to summon the medical ninja.
