Chapter 6 : Team 9?

On the day of the graduation test

Ren now stood in line to test for the practical part of the exam. One by one people were going in and coming out, some with happy faces and headbands on their hands and some returned crying and empty-handed.

" I will become HOKAGE, YA KNOW" came an obnoxiously loud voice inside the room of testing. Ren sweat dropped as he heard the voice 'I envy his confidence.' thought Ren not knowing if it was confidence or stupidity.

Ren looked around as he observed the other candidates 'Many seem nervous' thought Ren as he looked at a blonde girl and a pink-haired girl who were bickering quite a bit.

'And that one looks plain lazy' thought Ren as he looked at a boy who had a pineapple haircut who seemed half asleep while his friend was mumbling something to him while munching on chips.

'I wonder if that bag of chips is going to empty soon.' thought Ren but was saved from his boredom when the instructor called him inside the room to take his test.

"Kiyoshi Ren, Class A. Please do the Bunshin jutsu." Told Iruka as he and Mizuki were sitting on the chair assessing the student's jutsu.

Ren went through the hand seals and did the clone jutsu. Suddenly next to Ren another copy of him was there. The evaluators seemed to be impressed as they wrote something on their notes.

Next, Ren quickly performed the body substitution followed by a henge no jutsu. The henge no jutsu was almost the exact copy of Minato Namikaze though it was a bit pale and dull. The academy instructors nodded and indicated it was acceptable.

"Now you need to perform the essential 5 jutsu" said Iruka as he remembered Ren's graduation condition. Ren nodded and waited a few tense seconds as he felt his fuinjutsu seal activate and supply him with chakra.

Water condenser jutsu called out Ren as he poured the chakra from his seals. Slowly drops of water collected in front of Ren as held the hand seal. "Good, now perform the other ones," said Iruka as he saw that Ren still had enough chakra to do the other things

'Hmm, you have worked hard, haven't you? Just the clone jutsu would have made you exhausted back then.' thought Iruka a bit fondly at his student who was now performing the flare technique.

Ren just completed the scent remover jutsu and now only had to do the ground mole jutsu. 'This is the most difficult one' thought Ren as he opened bit larger amount of chakra from his seal.

Ground mole jutsu Ren said calmly and kept his hands on the floor. The floor under the influence of the chakra opened up a bit. Iruka checked the hole and found that though It was not deep enough it was okay.

Iruka went back to Mizuki and discussed a bit and then called out to Ren " Congratulations, You have passed the academy test. Here is your headband" said Iruka, handing him the headband, pride evident in his eyes.

'F*CK Yeah, I finished this damn graduation test, take that Mizuki'Thought Ren a bit excitedly but kept his expression neutral of course " Thank you Sensei" said Ren with a light smile and received his headband. Ren walked out of the room, his heart pounding with excitement and relief.

Ren passed the academy gates and walked to a swing near the academy. 'This has a nice view of the academy' thought Ren as he looked at the people who were coming out of the academy.

"The village seems so peaceful. " Ren raised his neck and saw a man who had black hair and eyes. "Yes, it does seem carefree." said ren after a bit of contemplation.

"Congratulations on passing the test," said the man as he glanced at Ren's hand which was still holding onto the headband.

"Thanks, I worked for it a bit." Said Ren in a cheery tone. This made the man smile "Hn, My brother is taking the test right now too." said the man.

"your brother?" asked Ren. "You might know him, he is Uchiha Sasuke. " Ren just shrugged 'Not like I studied in the class' thought ren who had been self-studying only came to the academy if he needed physical guidance or just to take a test.

"I guess your brother, Is lucky to have you since you have come to see him at his graduation." Said Ren to the man. This made the man smile a little "I am the lucky one... What is your name kid?" said Itachi in a good tone.

"Kiyoshi Ren, " said Ren to the man. 'Pure lotus?' thought The man as he heard the boy's name and then told his own name as it was a bit rude not to say your own name after asking someone else "Uchiha Itachi. Keep working hard Ren-kun."

with that Itachi walked to the academy meeting halfway a kid who looked like he was brooding a bit but showed an excited expression when he saw Itachi. 'Uchiha Sasuke.' thought Ren before heading back home without any disturbance. 

***********After a few days***********

Ren calmly approached the classroom of the academy to meet his sensei. 'I just hope that it isn't someone lazy' pleaded Ren to himself as he entered the classroom. He looked around and saw an empty spot near the back of the classroom next to a boy who had black hair.

"Is anyone going to sit there?" asked ren to the boy. who shook his head. Ren sat next to him. "who are you? I am Uchiha Soba, Have I seen you in the academy before?" asked the boy in a curious tone.

" I am Kiyoshi Ren, I didn't learn in the academy, I attended the graduation with Hokage-sama's permission. So the chances of you seeing me before is low."Said Ren in a casual tone.

*Thud*

"Ahhh, I am the first forehead" Yelled out a blonde girl obnoxiously.

"No obviously it was me my foot was 1cm faster than yours Ino-pig." an equally loud pink-haired girl retorted

Ren saw the pineapple-haired kid mutter something and put his head on his bench. Ren felt the same way and imitated the boy and kept his head on the table.

'Are they ninja? I thought ninjas were supposed to be silent and cool.' thought Ren as he thought of the two girls who were still bickering. 'Huh... Why did it stop?' thought Ren a bit confusedly as he lifted his head.

Naruto and Sasuke were kissing each other. Ren calmly put his head back down to the table ' It is just a dream, I will wake up soon...'

*Big Head Jutsu*

"EVERYONE SIT DOWN" Ren lifted his head again. ' Iruka Sensei, huh nice.' thought Ren as he was okay with Iruka. Iruka took the attendance and started to give a speech, which Ren promptly ignored.

"and so you will have your sensei meet you. Team 1 kayaba Akihiko, kirigaya..." and so Iruka continued saying the name of the assigned team members and their sensei's name which everyone paid attention to.

"team 9 Uchiha Soba, Kyoei kokoro, Kiyoshi Ren your Sensei is .. Indo Abe, Team 10 Nara Shikamaru,.."

"Indo Abe? I haven't heard his name before" muttered Ren to himself. "Hey, Kiyoshi-san it seems like we are going to be in the same team." Said Soba to Ren. "Yes it does seem like it Uchiha-san" Replied Ren.

"Just call me Soba, there are many Uchihas it will be confusing later and we are going to be teammates, Right?" said the Uchiha in a nervous tone. "Okay, but call me Ren," said Ren back to Soba. The uchiha nodded.

Ren and Soba had to wait for a few minutes before their instructor came so they began talking. Ren didn't have to wait for long as a person wearing Jonin attire came in "Team 9 come out to the ground" said the man before disappearing. Ren stood up and started walking out of the classroom with Soba when he noticed another girl join them.

Soon Ren and the two of them stood in front of the man. He looked at them once and said " I am Indo Abe, First introduce yourselves then we will have a test to see if we are going to be a team or not" said the man in a disinterested voice.

"Eh, aren't we already a team Sensei?" asked Ren.

"No, that graduation test was only to weed out the ineligible. The test right now is done to see if you are worthy of my teaching."Said Abe.

"What happens if we fail?" asked the timid Uchiha. "You will be deemed unworthy and sent to the genin corps. However, it doesn't matter much for those who want to join the Uchiha police force as you are still a genin," said Abe glancing at the Uchiha.

The Uchiha gulped but didn't say anything. "Now, Enough questions introduce yourselves," said Abe

The girl who had dull purple hair walked forward " I am Kyokei Kokoro, I like buying new things, my parents are the head of the Merchant Association." said the girl in vanity.

"I am Uchiha Soba. I want to make my parents happy."Said the uchiha. 'A worthy goal' thought Ren before saying his own introduction.

"I am Kiyoshi Ren. I want to grow strong" said Ren though he was going to continue, One glance at the jonin was enough to make him know that he was not interested, So Ren stopped.

The Jonin saw that the introduction was complete, and then said " Now that you are done. I will be hiding in Ground 11, find where I am within 3 hours and land a hit on me. If you do it, you pass."

With that, the man disappeared leaving a bit of leaves where he had stood.
