18 Ch. 18 Devil's Awakening
Sitting down, Chiba watched Hanbi walk out of the shadows from where the shadow tentacle came from. He ran into the battle against the three chunin as the clones were focused entirely on defending and stall, not attacking.
"Hanbi! Let my clones kill them" Chiba screamed out. While confused by his request as Hanbi planned on killing them with his knife, he just nodded.
Using one hand, Hanbi used the Rat hand sign and his shadow stretched out beneath him and held onto the three Chunin Ninja, allowing the Clones to use their remaining bit of chakra they had left to kill them.
Seeing this, Chiba let out a sigh if relief and fell on his back and focused on his template system

Seeing his Milestone reward, Chiba couldn't hold back a faint smirk. With a hope and a prayer in his heart, Chiba clicked in the chunin and jonin milestone, redeeming his rewards.
[The Fujitora Template has reached the necessary percentage and has awoken another ability.]
Skipping past the message, Chiba quickly opened his System once again to see which ability he gained.

Chiba faint smirk turned into a smile when he saw that he awoken the Devil Fruit this early. Focusing his observation Haki on a nearby rock, Chiba delved into Fujitoras Memories for assistance as the rock suddenly started Floating.
Chiba smiles turned into an ear to ear nearly maniacal grin as he realized that he actually gained the Devil Fruits power, and not just the power to control gravity! This meant that just like in One Piece, his Gravity Devil Fruit doesn't require chakra to use, just his stamina!
Chiba was smiling in elation before he quickly reeled in his emotions as he remembered another fact that he had been putting at the back of his mind.
'This is an incredibly powerful ability and it doesn't cost me any Chakra but now I have a major weakness....The moment I fight against a ninja that uses water jutsu, Im immediately at a severe disadvantage!'
While he came to this realization, Chiba's mood was dampened somewhat as he realized he'll never be able to swim again and if he takes a bath, he'll have to be cautious as to not accidentally kill himself by drowning.
Standing up, the shadow clones returned to him and gave him a tiny bit if chakra as Hanbi walked over to the heavily injured Chiba and patted him on the back.
"Like I said kid, we have no way of completely this mission by ourselves. Im relatively full strength and might be able to take on a Jonin by myself and your in no condition to fight." Hanbi said in comfort.
"How about you go on ahead and I'll handle distracting the other joni-" "it's fine Hanbi" Chiba said, cutting Hanbi off.
"If you swear yourself to secrecy and not tell another soul about what I'm about to do, I can complete this mission without fighting another Ninja." Chiba said tensely.
Letting out a sigh, the Nara felt like this situation was becoming more and more of a drag. He thought that Chiba was a desperate child wanting to gain a positive reputation for hi clan by pulling off the impossible.
"Whatever Chiba, I swear. But If things get too dicy, I'm running." Hanbi said rather half heartedly. The tense atmosphere increased even furth as a pressure started weighing down on Hanbi slightly.
"I'm deadly serious Hanbi, if you tell another soul about what I can do. I promise you, there will be severe reprocussions.... "
Hanbi felt a strange weight slowly press him down, causing cold sweats to appear on his face ss he knew Chiba had to be the one causing it but wasn't using any handsigns. He realized he had been quite disrespectful to Chiba's promise, he straightened his back and looked Chiba at Chiba.
"I promise you Chiba, I will never tell another soul." Hanbi said in a serious tone that Chiba wanted.
"Good, let's go back to the bridge" Chiba said as he slowly limped away as the pressure weighing down on Hanbi disappeared.
Hanbi silently followed the limping Chiba back to the bridge and realized something was wrong as he checked his watch, the operation that the other squad was supposed to carry out hadnt even begun yet. He couldn't have known that one of the members had been kidnapped and the other members abandoned the mission to retrieve her.
It took Chiba fifteen minutes of hobbling with an earth spike sticking through his leg to reach the edge of the trees. Standing there, Chiba felt how little amount of stamina that he had left.
Taking our another military ration pill, Chiba grimaced as he swallowed the disgusting tasting ball, knowing he'll have to pay for it later.
It was a well know fact that the more military rations pills a ninja ate, the more egregious the side affect. The first pill slightly slowed down chakra regeneration as the user felt fatigued for 3 days. Chiba was certain that the second pill would increase these side affects greatly, causing him to feel very fatigued and have a slower Chakra regeneration for 9 days.
"Hanbi.... You said you liked watching the stars right? How about I do you a favor and give you a closer look" Smirking at Hanbi's confused face, Chiba used every ounce of chakra that he had to expand his observation Haki to the max!
Chiba saw everything within a hundred miles of his vaccinity, but he knew his chakra was about to run out after a few second after doing this, so he focused. His observation Haki had pierced through the Earth's atmosphere and started observing space, and that's when he saw it!
A space rock that was half the size of tailed beast appeared in his vision as rings of purple light began to appear on top of Chiba's body as he activated his devil fruit, drawing his stamina from him and leaving him more and more fatigued.
Chiba's devil fruits increased the gravity of the rock and started sucking the rock into the planets atmosphere and towards the Bridge!

"Sato, whats taking Hakiro and his squad so long from coming back? Were they ambushed!?" The Jonin Rock Ninja conveyed using sign language.
"Your right, he should be back by now. Summon a messanger bird to report the disturbance and to request back up. We absolutely cant take chances with security of this bri-" The Rock ninja named Sato came to a stop, feeling something was off.
"C-captain! T-the sky!" Hearing his underling screaming at the top of his lungs, Sato looked up and realized what was wrong.
Next to the bright white moon appeared to be the sun, but it's light seemed to not be as bright, not only that, it seemed to be getting closer and closer to him! It was after a second that he came to a horrifying realization, a meteor was baring down on them!
He immediately used the genjutsu release jutsu that he knew, only for him to come to a second realization, this wasn't a Genjutsu!
The Chunin ninja were trying to run away from the bridge, leaving it defenseless causing Sato to bubble in rage!
"Don't you run Cowards!" His voice rang out above the panic, forcing the Chunin to stop.
"If this Bridge fall, our comrades on the front line will be killed faster because of malnutrition and lack of weapons and medicine! We can't let this come to pass!" This bridge was the heart of Iwagakure supply route.
It was made hundreds of years ago by the greatest architect and created with a special concrete that could withstand attack up to the c rank while also being impossible to erode by the times. The technique on how this concrete was made was lost to time and was the pride of the Stone Village
If it was destroyed, not only would there supply line become greatly diminished, but there moral would hit an all time low.
Sure they have sealing scrolls, but the readily available and low ranks ones can only store small items like kunai and smoke bombs. The high ranked storage seal can store much larger items but those are extremely rare and expensive, used only for S ranked missions.
So when the Ninjas on the front lines needed large items like armour, Spears or swords, they have to be carried through by the use of Wagons.
The chunin came to a stop at that realization, they couldn't let the heart of their village be destroyed as they ran away!
"Join me men and protect our village! Show this meteor the steadfast and stubborn spirit of the Stone Ninja!" Sato yelled as he and every other Ninja stood in the bridge and began performing handsigns in unison.
"EARTH RELEASE: GREAT EARTHEN SHIELD!" The stone Ninja shouted out in unison as the earth around them began to rise on both sides of the bridge and began forming a roof above them. The more chakra they poured into the jutsu, the sturdier and thicker the shield became.
Feeling the determined and stubborn spirit of the stone village flowing through them, they knew that together they could stop the meteor. What they didn't know, is that this wasn't a normal meteor.
As it was a just a hundred feet above the bridge, the meteor which had already hit terminal velocity, suddenly started speed up faster as it's gravity increased greatly.
As the stone ninja felt the heat from the burning meteor, they looked up and suddenly saw cracks beginning to appear on the shield before the Meteor even made contact! Chiba didn't know the power of his meteor or the strength of the shield, so he decided to play it safe and target the earth shield with his devil fruit as well.
With terror and confusion coursing through their veins, the meteor made contact and easily tore througt the already damaged Shield, destroying the heart of the stone village in a single attack

Seeing the destruction of the bridge and redeeming his reward, Chiba relaxed slightly and suddenly felt the fatigue of all of his injuries, the side affects of the rations pills kick in and the fact that he justed used up all of his recovered stamina on his devil fruit.
Collapsing to the floor, Chiba curled into a ball as he used all of his will power to stay awake.
"Hanbi...we didn't do this....it was a... natural encounter...we just witnessed it...." Chiba said as he was nodding off to sleep mid sentence before immediately falling into a deep sleep after saying what he wanted to say
Still struck by fear and awe at the sight he witnessed, Hanbi looked at the young boy asleep on the floor.
'He is still so young and yet he's this powerful! If he's this strong already..... I better make good on his promise of secrecy, with him by my side, Im sure survive this war!' picking Chiba up, Hanbi started walking back to the outpost.
(Devil fruit users get weakened by any water type, not just salt water. I've been getting this comment so many times I have to explain here)
