Chapter 85: Full Disclosure, Revealing the Truth
Amegakure.
With Uchiha Yi's transformation of the perpetual rain into clear skies, the once-gloomy atmosphere of the village had given way to a burgeoning sense of hope. The villagers, now basking in sunlight, felt optimistic about their future.
At the orphanage, Konan was teaching a group of children ninjutsu. Among them were Haku, who had been brought from Kirigakure, and Uzumaki Karin, recently rescued from Kusagakure.
Their unique bloodline abilities had attracted the attention of Pain and Konan, who had taken it upon themselves to personally guide their development.
Particularly Karin, being of Uzumaki descent, held a special significance to Pain. Konan made sure to give her extra care.
"Angel-sama," Karin asked nervously, her crimson hair framing her shy face. "When will Elder Ah Huo return?"
"Soon," Konan replied with a gentle smile. "But have you mastered the ninjutsu I taught you earlier?"
"Really? That's great!" Karin beamed. "I need to thank him properly for rescuing me from that awful place."
Hearing this, Konan smiled but hesitated. She knew that the person Karin referred to as "Ah Huo" no longer existed—he had become "Ah Yan." Though they were the same person, Karin was unaware of this truth. Konan deliberated on whether to reveal this to her.
Just then, Konan sensed someone approaching. She turned to see Uchiha Yi standing a short distance away.
"Ah!" Karin exclaimed, immediately recognizing him despite the lack of a mask. Her exceptional sensory abilities left no doubt in her mind.
Her excitement turned to embarrassment, leaving her tongue-tied.
"You're back," Konan said, smiling warmly.
"Yeah," Uchiha Yi responded with a small nod. "Are you free? There's something important I need to discuss with you and Sensei Pain."
Sensing the seriousness in his tone, Konan agreed without hesitation. She made arrangements for Haku and Karin before leading Uchiha Yi to meet Pain.
---
"What's the matter?" Pain asked, sensing something unusual about the atmosphere as Konan and Uchiha Yi arrived together.
"There are truths I need to disclose," Uchiha Yi said solemnly.
With that, he activated his Mangekyō Sharingan and Fire Eye, entering Sage Mode to heighten his perception. He scanned the surroundings meticulously, ensuring they were not being spied upon by White Zetsu or any other entities.
Once certain they were alone, Uchiha Yi turned back to Pain and Konan, preparing to reveal the truths he had long kept hidden.
Pain and Konan could see the gravity in his expression and braced themselves for what was to come.
"Sensei Pain, do you know how your Rinnegan came to be?" Uchiha Yi began.
"What do you mean?" Pain asked, though a hint of unease flickered in his eyes.
"The origins of the Rinnegan are rooted in the bloodlines of the Uchiha and Senju clans. Without the union of these two powers, the Rinnegan cannot manifest.
"So tell me, why does someone who is neither Uchiha nor Senju possess the Rinnegan?"
Pain fell silent, unable to refute the logic. His Rinnegan had been a mystery even to him, but now he felt as though he was on the brink of understanding.
"Could it originally have belonged to Uchiha Madara?" Konan ventured, her sharp mind quickly piecing together the implications.
"Exactly," Uchiha Yi confirmed, a faint smile on his lips.
He continued: "The Rinnegan currently in Sensei Pain's possession was indeed Uchiha Madara's.
"After losing to Hashirama Senju at the Valley of the End, Madara faked his death using the forbidden Uchiha technique Izanagi.
"During their battle, he bit off a piece of Hashirama's flesh, which contained the Senju's Wood Release and bloodline powers.
"He used this piece to combine the Senju and Uchiha bloodlines within himself, eventually awakening the Rinnegan."
Uchiha Yi paused briefly, allowing his words to sink in before continuing.
"Unfortunately, by the time Madara awakened the Rinnegan, he was already old and near the end of his life.
"To regain his youth and strength, he transplanted his Rinnegan into a member of the Uzumaki clan, known for their exceptional vitality.
"This is where things take a darker turn. In secret, Madara manipulated various village leaders, orchestrating the attack on Uzushiogakure.
"Fueled by Sarutobi Hiruzen's own petty motives, the village was destroyed, leaving its people scattered.
"Among the survivors was a boy named Nagato, whom Madara chose to inherit his Rinnegan."
As Uchiha Yi finished, both Pain and Konan were visibly shaken.
Though they had never revealed Nagato's existence to Uchiha Yi, he had laid bare the truth of the Rinnegan and its origins, leaving them reeling.
---
This revelation brought a storm of emotions, as truths they had never dared to confront were now exposed. Konan clenched her fists, struggling to process what this meant for their cause, while Pain's stoic demeanor cracked under the weight of the implications.
How could they move forward, knowing that their power—and by extension, their mission—was rooted in the schemes of a long-dead man?
Above all, they couldn't help but wonder: if Uchiha Yi knew this much, what else did he know?
